For the last 5 years my wife as been a patient of MD Anderson and has to go there every 3 weeks. We contacted the Mays clinic to consider transferring her treatment to San Antonio. They transferred me to the OB clinic in the MARC bldg and we had all pt records transferred and met with one of the Oncologist about 3 weeks later. They scheduled my wife’s infusion at University Hospital which was confusing. Why not at the May’s Clinic? My wife did her immunotherapy there and unfortunately it’s not the same level of service as MD Anderson Houston so I contacted the OB department and said we want her treatment at the Mays, M D Anderson building. They provide infusion services. The Oncologist said they do not have contracts to do any services at the Mays Clinic and operate independently from the Mays Clinic. So The Mays Clinic does not have any OB oncologist associated ”directly” with Mays clinic. It’s a clinic without OB cancer care. It’s in name only. All their websites refer to them being associated with MD Anderson which they are not!! It appears like false advertising. They are also extremely under staffed and very poor communication and response. I’ve tried to get a contact with UT upper management because no one can make decisions. If I were the May’s family I’d ask why OB Oncology services are not provider on site in their building!!! We have rescheduled back in Houston even though we live in Boerne. The organization is so disorganized even the employees aren’t sure what they provide.

I am very frustrated and disappointed with the service. I am a cancer patient and I have been treating myself since 2017 with the doctors there. But this year since February 2023 I was wanting to make an appointment for my doctor to see me because I am having very bad pain and she did not want to give me an appointment. I had to go to my internist and explain everything that was happening. They came to make an appointment for me on July 5 and because my internist helped me, I called upset because they didn't want to see me. When I went in July they found a tumor in my right kidney, the doctor told me that she would send me an appointment with the urologist to have a biopsy done. Two weeks go by and nothing, my husband and I called me because I feel very bad and they didn't help me. I have many symptoms. One day in my case I had a fall, I could hardly urinate, I was dizzy, vomiting and even blood, I started vomiting and had a strong smell when I urinated. My husband had to take me to the emergency room at the Methodist hospital, there they treated me very quickly, they wanted to transfer me to UT Health because that's where I have my doctors and when they called they said everything was full and they couldn't treat me. I, crying from the pain, asked them to treat me at the Methodist hospital. They operated on me, they placed a stent because the kidney tumor is blocking the urethra and that is why I couldn't urinate. They told me that this is temporary but that they should operate on me to remove the tumor. They didn't do it because they are not my doctors.I went to a urologist who sent me to the oncologist. It was very frustrating. I left that place worse because she didn't know why I was there and why they sent me. My husband explained to her and she said let me consult with the doctor who knows more than me right now, he is on vacation when he arrives we will be in contact with you. Now that urologist gave me an appointment for November. How can that be possible??? I am in a lot of pain, frustrated and disappointed by the terrible service. Aren't doctors supposed to be there to help???? Don't feel sorry for the pain you feel. And so expensive are the visits. I need help and it is now! Please have that tumor removed, I don't want to feel more pain. I definitely don't recommend them. I have had to go to the emergency room at the Methodist hospital on two occasions.

Very unprofessional and unorganized facility. We walked out of the appointment after the rude Hindu doctor made heartless comments about the tumors. He had not read any of the medical records provided to him. Kept talking over us (females). Was a waste of time. DO NOT GO TO THIS LOCATION. TRY THE REAL MD ANDERSON IN HOUSTON.

don’t waste you time or money at MD Anderson. they can careless about you and are interested only in youInsurance or money they say the best way to communicate with them is through the Portal. well they may get back to you in a month. it’s been the worst experience for me. your better off finding someone close to where you live that really cares about you as a patient and who really wants to help. Oncology of San Antonio has given me and my family just that. they care about and treat you like some looking for help. from the receptionist to all the staff and Doctors. nurses who really care about you. not the same at MD Anderson. Your just a number to Nurses and Doctors.

As a cancer survivor I do fear when there is unexplainable pain. I visited Mays in February because I was scared with a pain in my side that would not go away. Alexis McKinney behaved in a very flippant manner regarding my pain and even suggested that I was making it up! In front of my husband she recommended that I see a therapist for anxiety. The pain continued and got worse so I visited the women's gynecological oncology department where I was told I had a tear in my muscle and given muscle relaxers. When the pain would still not go away, I went to the Pavilion urgent care where I was found to have two kidney stones, 4mm + 2mm and a kidney infection. Because of neglect by Alexis McKinney it took a month to get diagnosed properly and had to take antibiotics for the infection. Alexis McKinney has terrible and very poor bedside manner. The disgusting way she treated me will not be forgotten and should in fact be looked at further by her superiors at Mays Cancer Center. You also have my contact details to reach me.

I have had nothing but positive experiences with the Surgical Oncology and Endocrine Surgery division at MD Anderson. I feel grateful that I was able to be under the care of Dr. Colin Court and his team. I was extremely nervous going in, but Dr. Court made me feel at ease immediately. His nurse, Demetria, has been awesome as well answering any questions I had and staying in contact with me over the phone. The whole office is well organized and welcoming. As far as my procedure, again, Dr. Court and his team were exceptional on informing me of all details of the surgery. I knew I was in good care and the surgery was successful. Highly recommend the Surgical Oncology and Endocrine Surgery department. I wish I could address everyone by name, but the receptionists and nurses have all been wonderful.

I am currently a patient here I would say the care is minimal at best don't expect much. I have stage 4 GIST cancer and get zero help with side effects. I'm told that my cancer medication doesn't cause that side effect and that's the end of it. I can't tell you anything about the nurses that work for my doctor they've never introduced themselves or done anything but answer an email .My doctor seems like a very nice guy but I just don't feel like I'm getting very good care. Feel pretty hopeless in my two-year battle with GIST cancer and this place doesn't really seem to care or help a bit. They just run you through the routine when you walk in the door and send you on you way. It's a shame a city the size of San Antonio does not have any other options for GIST cancer patients. You're only good option for GIST cancer is to drive to Houston to MD Anderson. The only good thing I can say is I do have a plan of attack after my last appointment I am going to see a surgeon hopefully in the next few months and the doctor told me I am stable thats the first time I've ever heard that. I tried to stay positive I hate leaving a bad review but that's my feelings about this Cancer Center.

They are the best, treat everyone with respect. They take the time on each appointment to answer questions, explain everything clearly and help you understand your options. When you reach out over the mychart app they respond very quickly, usually in an hour or so. I highly recommend using them.

Doctor and Nurse are awesome. I can write a book about the schedulers for Chemo visits. They assume that your life is available for when they want to schedule you for chemo visit, they never call you to tell you are being scheduled, they don’t call to confirmed if the date or time is okay for when they schedule you for chemo visit. You request a call back to talk about their scheduling process, I never got a call back.

Just because we're poor and don't have money, my father says that the doctors here don't want him to get healed. We need a better way to help Cancer patients. 9 years with and I ask the spirit to heal everyone.

My appt was at 930, its 1130 and still waiting. This is one of the slowest places outside of the emergency room i have ever been to within the univ system. Although, they are ALL usually slow AF. The only good thing i can say is the staff is nice and courteous.
