I topped the car off at the station right next to the airport and they gigged me $24.00 for .4 gallons of gas. I have photos of the dash before I took the car and when I returned it. Also too far to way to walk from the rental drop off to the terminal.UPDATE: 11/8/2023 Thrifty did reach out to me and after I was able to show them proof that I topped the car up on fuel prior to returning the vehicle, they did reimburse the fuel that they charged me for. I appreciate their quick response and correction to my issue. I will look to use Thrifty again in the future.

DO NOT RENT FROM HERE. I returned my Vehicle 2 days ago. I am still getting CHARGED. ITs been a nightmare. There are no direct numbers. Even the pick up process was painful. 1 person at the counter and 30 people waiting. LISTEN TO THE OTHER REVIEWS

Do not, under any conditions, rent a car from this Thrifty San Antonio airport location. There is no one managing the rental counter, and I have been here for an hour. Calling Thrifty will send you to a call center with no knowledge of the conditions here in San Antonio. Repeat, do NOT rent a car from Thrifty in San Antonio.

It took a long time to get to the front of the line when picking up my car. The lady behind the desk began up selling us on a different car from what we signed up for. They then sent us to get our vehicle only to find out that it needed servicing. No one seemed to know what was going on. It was very frustrating just trying to pick up our vehicle while on vacation. We then finally found a vehicle and were able to leave the airport. I would not recommend this company as they are slow and very confusing completing a simple task of getting you into a vehicle.

Crooks. There was no agent available when I returned my car, so I couldn't get a receipt. Then, I get an updated invoice informing me of a fuel charge and airport concession fee plus tax totaling $144. I prepaid for my car, including all taxes when I reserved the rental, so how am i being charged additional fees? I filled up my gas tank before returning the car. I suppose they were banking on me not taking a picture of my dash when i returned it, but I did. The picture shows a full tank of gas at the mileage they checked it in at. I had to wait next morning to call bc they were closed. When I called, I told the agent how unethical their business is, deliberately charging me for a full tank of gas, knowing the car was full. I expressed my displeasure with them and their shady process. I received a refund of the gas charge totaling $128, but I still need to contest these additional charges of tax and airport concession fee totaling $16. I can name plenty of faults the business has, but this paragraph is enough, and it would take another hour that I don't have right now. So rent with caution, and document everything. Take recordings of the rental at the beginning and at drop off to protect yourself. Bunch of crooks.

This was the worst customer service experience of my life and the only negative review I’ve ever written on anything. My husband and I are in our honeymoon and had a rental car reserved. Because he has a JR in his name it automatically made that to his last name. They told us there’s no way to change it or get the car. We had prepaid so now we’re stuck in San Antonio and out $200. I would sooner get all of my teeth pulled, rinse my contacts with lemon juice and wear wet socks for the rest of my life then ever use thrifty again.

Absolutely horrible experience, the vehicle had a bad battery, my family and I were stranded at a beach. We followed the prompts and directions that road side assistance gave us. Four hours later, we still lacked any type of help. Initial call to road side was 8:15pm and at 12:00 AM, road side didn't know what to do. I had to pay $50 out of pocket for a boost from a tow company I hired. Thrifty road side assistance was lack luster and below standards. To make things worse, manager at Thrifty SA Airport tells us that they are giving us a $75 voucher for our next rental, out of those $75, $50 I already paid for, so in reality, all they're giving me back is a $25 voucher. This is so unprofessional and I will never recommend this rental company again. Update (9-06-23) Not only Thrifty Rental did not reimburse me my $50 they owe me, now they charged me a $200 car cleaning fee that I didn't authorize.

Would give zero stars if I could. The terrible experience started from the beginning. Reserved a Camry “like” vehicle thinking that would get us a 4-door. My wife arrived and was told she would have to upgrade in order to get a 4-door ($176). They added insurance after she told them not too and when I called today to dispute they said there is nothing they can do since she signed it (over $400 for insurance). What was supposed to be around $480 rental ended up being about $1200. I’d stay away from this place.

We NEVER said we wanted to upgrade our vehicle, but they charged us and aren’t helping at all! on the receipt it says you MAY be upgraded with NO extra cost cus sometimes they don’t have the car u booked, AND the guy even said “not extra, u wont be charged”, yet they charged us!! They said they would do an “investigation” and call us, but never got back to us. As most of the comments said, SCAMMERS and unprofessional, avoid them.

Would give negative stars if possible. I have rented cars many times from San Antonio Airport, but this experience with Thrifty was horrible and quite shocking. When picking up my vehicle I was asked if I wanted to do prepaid fuel for $3.10 per gallon and I said sure that’s fine. After returning my rental a few days later I didn’t bother filling up the tank because I had prepaid for the fuel. Upon dropping off my car I was told they would email me the receipt (which they never did). Then I see my credit card charged double of what I was expecting.I was charged $139 for fuel surcharge ($9.99 per gallon). Obviously no one at Thrifty cares. They won’t acknowledge I did the prepaid fuel and won’t accept their mistake is costing me $139. All my years on this planet, I have never seen a company fail to do the simplest thing like accept a mistake they made and make things right.I guess it was easier for them to do nothing and lose a customer for life and earn this well deserved review. These guys are cheap for a reason. Nightmare.

This was the biggest car rental rip off I've ever experienced. I booked an “unknown” car and prepaid $300. Then i was given the lowest level vehicle at the counter -which i could have originally booked for the cheapest price. Then i was told that to be able to use bluetooth GPS, id have to upgrade to the next level for $90 more dollars. I also opted for the cheapest insurance which i was told was $18/day however, i was billed $34.99/day for insurance and ended up with a balance of $304 at the counter. Over $600 total for a small car- total rip off!!! They also said it would have a full tank of gas (meaning id have to return it with a full tank) and it actually had less than 3/4 of a tank. Had i not made sure that was known by staff and returned it with an equal amount of gas, they would have charged me $9.99/gallon. AVOID THIS COMPANY AT ALL COSTS and check receipts or you’ll be ripped off as well. Terrible customer service and an overall wretched experience. WILL NEVER USE “THIEFTY” AGAIN!!!

Evil, fraudulent company. Should you still rent here get the Pre-Rental Vehicle Inspection Form and walk around and LOOK for and REMARK ALL DAMAGE with the representative before leaving the garage. Thankfully I did this and saved my copy. A month later they contacted me saying I owed $1600 for damage to the car which I had noted as already existing on the form. I promptly sent a photo of the Pre-Rental Vehicle Inspection Form back to them and they backed off however still refusing to answer my emails asking for an explanation of why they tried to defraud me. They deserve to go out of business.

If I had one minute to live, I'd spend it waiting in line at thrifty because it would feel like an eternity. There was one person at the counter, then she left, and I'm we're waiting for the employee at the DOLLAR rental counter top check me out.

They had 2 people handling customers from 3 different rental car companies. Sat in line for almost an hour. Customer service was pretty good when we finally got our turn.

This was the absolute worst experience I have ever had, in my entire life, with a business. To use a debit card to rent a vehicle you have to put up a $500 deposit plus pass a credit check. I am not interested in having rental car businesses put a hit on my credit score and a $500 hold to borrow a Toyota for a few days. I did not have my credit card with me because I was traveling and I don’t take my credit cards with me because my debit card has better theft protections than my other card. They refused to let me change the reservation to my friend’s name so they could use their credit card, and they have not refunded the money that I paid for the rental despite never getting to pick it up. The customer service here was absolutely appalling and it is clear that the employees don’t care about their job at all, which is a reflection on the larger company. I’ll never use this company again, total rip-off and humiliating experience.
