We ate here twice over the weekend! My wife and I were in town for a wedding and someone recommended that we try Pharm Table. We got to town early on Friday and arrived right after opening. Thankfully, we didn't need a reservation and we were seated inside by a lovely hostess who gave us the option of also sitting outside in their covered patio which looked like a great alternative if we hadn't wanted air conditioning. Our Server was attentive and knowledgeable and she helped us navigate the menu as well as explained the restaurant's general philosophy of not just creating thoughtful menu items but a total holistic experience from where and how ingredients are sourced all the way to how they are disposed of. I think the attention to these kinds of details are important and my wife and I are willing to spend more to help places like this make a difference in the well being of our planet that also results in delicious food. The menu itself gives a brief description of this approach along with explaining the 3% added cost to financially compensate the staff which I believe is another part of the same philosophy. The menu states that this fee will be removed if asked. The cocktails we ordered were delicious and creative. Our favorite from the two visits was the Micro Flora with the chamomile infused mezcal. For meals, on our first visit we tried the Peruvian Nikkei Ceviche with Faroe Isle Salmon, Sweet Potato Waffles, and some Pasture Raised Chicken Thighs. On the second visit, we shared the Salmon Gravlax Board and the Antojitos Board with one of each taco. We also had the Oysters with a mezcal bean infused mignonette sauce. What a treat! After each meal we had the Sweet Potato Chocolate Brownie with a mesquite bean gelato. This is a flourless brownie so it's much lighter and more delicate than a traditional brownie but the flavors are so good and it works so well with the gelato! We couldn't pick a dish we liked more than any other which, after two meals, tells us that we'd probably like most everything on the menu. If only we lived closer we'd be here all the time. Overall, service was great, drinks were great, food was great, and ambiance was great. For those who mentioned having to pay to park, the menu does say that they validate up to 90 minutes of parking. Thank you for the great meals, we look forward to our next trip to San Antonio!

We had an all-around great experience at Pharm Table in Southtown San Antonio last night. It was a gorgeous evening and the open-air patio was open for service. Starting with drinks at the bar, we tried the Nuevo Vida and the Micro Flora, two botanical cocktails with Mezcal. We enjoyed watching the bartender torch the cinnamon stick and rosemary sprigs he added to our beverages. (The rosemary was harvested fresh from the PT garden.) The Micro Flora is served in a jícara - a hand-carved gourd - which made it especially fun to drink. We moved to a table for two and split the Peruvian Nikkei Ceviche with Faroe Isle Salmon (Turmeric leche de tigre, toasted sesame, and sweet potato) and Beet Chia Hummus (Hemp almond cream, heirloom beets, super seeds, cilantro oil served with heirloom corn tortillas). Then we ordered the Chapuline Glazed Salmon (Oaxacan chapuline oil, guacamole, radish slaw, blistered tomato, heirloom corn tortillas). The meal was filling without making us feel like we'd overeaten, so we ordered dessert: Pecan Almond Shortcake (Seasonal Texas fruit compote, tonka bean, coconut cream) and Avocado Chocolate Mousse (Peruvian cacao, raw sugar syrup, raw cacao nibs, berries). I am not usually much into dessert, but the shortcake was out-of-this-world tasty. As for service, it was a busy night but the staff was very attentive and it was evident that everyone enjoyed their workplace. Chef Elizabeth Johnson stopped by our table to ensure we were enjoying our meal (and to share information about how the desserts were prepared). One note about parking. Pharm Table validates for 90 minutes, but we thought we might be longer and parked on the street adjacent to the restaurant, where there were plenty of spots.

The Good: Food quality, service and atmosphere were outstanding. The Bad: Menu selection, portion size and prices were ridiculous. The Ugly: A 3% tax is added to your bill for the kitchen. You must pay to park. For a meal that consisted of zucchini the size of a side salad and huevos rancheros, $60 US dollars. This amount included the tip and parking. We left hungry, disappointed and amazed this place was in business in Texas. We will not be returning. Furthermore, we plan to ensure our family and friends are informed.

We had an exceptional dinner at this restaurant. They use ultra-fresh ingredients - combined in some truly creative preparations - every bite was to tasty! Our party of six started with some shareable appetizers, including ceviche, guacamole (with some unique ingredients), and a vegetable tray. All were superb. Oh and we had some outstanding cocktails. A friend had a unique mezcal cocktail served in a bowl, with yummy infused botanicals. Other folks had interesting variations on gin-and-tonic, paloma, and caribbean-ish drinks. All wonderful! The restaurant encourages sharing, but I hogged my salmon entree - outstanding fish seared to perfection. Others in our group had vegetarian mains. ... And we shared amazing desserts. The menu is very plant-forward, so "steak and potatoes" folks may not be into it. (Although the short rib entree looked good.) Anyway: We'll definitely go back next time we're in San Antonio.

Boring food and pretentious atmosphere. The flavors are awful. Ice tea tasted like it was water with a teaspoon of dry dirt. It’s like they just threw various foods and odd spices together. Worst meal I’ve ever had! Who eats this stuff?

Let me preface by saying the people who work here are exceptionally nice, albeit in a fake way. Everything about this place was fake and bombastic. The food was snobby hinging on pretentious. For the amount you pay per plate, you would expect more food. I am used to European portions - small, but nevertheless filling and price-appropriate. The dishes here are pricey, but you do not get bang for your buck. Jesus, there was hardly any food on the plate! I remember thinking, "This is it?" We left here starving!

It was overall the worst dining experience I have ever had. The service was poor. I had to ask multiple servers to check on the bottle of wine we ordered, and it still took over 40 minutes to arrive. The appetizer was a shared dish, but we had no plates. When I called our server over, she apologized and said they do this all the time and laughed. She walked away to get them, but never returned. I had to ask a second server 10 minutes later who brought it immediately our server never ended up coming back. . We ordered three dishes. The first was ok, but did not come out as requested. The second was the green goddess salad . It was supposed to have roasted vegetables, but the okra was raw and inedible. The last was the sweet potato kitchari. There was a spice in it, I believe nutmeg, that was not thoroughly mixed in. Some bites were bland and others so pungent it was difficult to swallow. At no time did our server check on us or ask about our food.

I attended the San Antonio film festival here tonight to support a film and we enjoyed it, clean, wish the venue was colder. I couldn't find the bathrooms but overall we enjoyed our time there. Felt safe with a security guard presence.
