They wanted 600 for an ultrasound I never heard of a price like that in my life instead of helping people,, they are out robbing the community of there hard earned money

One star because I had a good visit ONCE but this second and last time was horrific.
I brought my senior kitty in for vomiting once a day to every other day. The vet seemed very nice, however she began suggesting multiple things at once—bloodwork, urinalysis, X-rays, vomiting shot, etc. I asked what would a xray show? Essentially it would only catch a large mass which apparently we’d be able to feel on her anyway because she is so skinny, according to the vet. What will the $80 shot do? Stop her from vomiting for 24 hours (so perhaps one vomit instance for $80?). None of these made sense at ALL so I asked to start with one thing at a time, the most probable one—bloodwork and urinalysis, and if it doesn’t show anything, then next. Seems like the logical thing to do, no? Rather than have me pay several hundred dollars for things we don’t even know we need yet.
So they take her back and then tell me how they weren’t able to draw urine from her because one, her fur needed to be shaved and two, she wouldn’t let them draw it. I thought it was weird because she’s elderly so she does get mats which I very easily shave on a regular basis with no fuss from her or assistance from anybody else. They suggested they sedate her. Extra fee. I said, fine, she’s probably uncomfortable there.
When I get a call to let me know she’s ready before the call is ended the vet goes “oh just to let you know she was nicked a small bit but she’s totally fine, we sutured and glued it. I’m so sorry, I will apply a discount to your bill.” EXCUSE ME. You had my cat SEDATED and needed to shave what, 1-2 square inches and somehow CUT her? HOW incompetent are you guys? I said, ok I will want to see that cut before I take her home.
I get there and let the front desk know. I also tell them, in case they weren’t informed, I would like to be shown the cut and suture on my cat before I take her home. I wait at the front desk 5 min, and all of a sudden they come set her crate down next to me and walk away. I had to get someone’s attention to tell them, hey hello no show me what happened, I want to make sure it was taken care of properly before I walk out of here. The way the vet handled this was so careless, she took 2 seconds and I kept asking how did this happen, because the cut was an INCH LONG. She gave me excuses, said “again, sorry about that” like my cat isn’t a living being, and walked out. The discount they gave me was $50 off a $400+ service. Imagine what the bill would have been had I let them do all of the unnecessary procedures (by the way, the bloodwork did detect thyroid & kidney, rendering the rest of the services useless anyway).
I had just taken my dog to an ER vet (unrelated location) and they had been so kind and compassionate to us both so to get this treatment at Pets First was such a slap in the face for me. This is my fur baby of 14 years and absolutely horrific experience. I will never return and all my friends know.

I have a very energetic German Shepherd rescued during the pandemic who is quite uncooperative when it comes to exams (not aggressive, just strongly protests by wriggling free). Dr. Emshoff is super patient with her and has accurately diagnosed and successfully treated her for a UTI, resistant hookworms and an allergic reaction. My girl can be wild in the lobby, and the front desk employees all pitch in to help me without being asked. I appreciate their dedication to the care and well being of animals.

My chihuahua was sick throughout the night (nausea, stomach issues, mild dehydration) and was desperately trying to find a vet that was open (this was around 7am). After leaving all the information and medical notes with the lovely receptionist, not only did I manage to get an appointment the same day, they called back and said the doctor was concerned and asking if I could bring her in earlier to start monitoring. I was super anxious about waiting several hours for my puppy to be seen since the appointment was at 2, (as most pet owners are) but for them to call and ask to bring her earlier (8:30) brought me peace and comfort.
Not only did they take great care of my dog, but they called consistently to give me all the details and information, and were willing to answer any and all questions I had.
I truly have never felt such ease at a vets office like I have here. The staff, the communication, the pricing and resources available to pet owners are absolutely out of this world. 10/10 in my book.
My wonderful puppy is now doing so much better and while the circumstances of finding this place wasn’t the greatest, I am VERY thankful and grateful that I did. We will 100% be coming back for all future needs.

Best service and value for your pets. I inherited a pup last fall and called her original vet clinic about vaccines and prices. They were outrageous. Called Pets First and my quote and visit was $130 less. Very caring and understanding of my pets needs. All my fur babies are Pets First clients.

What a great experience! Being a new resident to San Antonio, it was necessary to find a veterinarian clinic that both my Vizsla Jackson and I felt comfortable with. After checking around, I made the decision to go to Pet's First Veterinary Center & I'm so happy I did! My boy can be very anxious during his vet visits, but the staff was very caring & skilled in how they handled him. Our vet tech Destiny was incredibly kind & understanding & Dr Salinas was friendly and thorough during her exam & diagnosis. They took the time required & expected during these types of visits, & the entire staff was very friendly. Highly recommended!!

I cannot say enough good things about Pets First Vet clinic here in San Antonio. I was fortunate enough to become a new client over a year ago. During that time, they have assisted me with the health maintenance of my three dogs and two cats. They even trim one of my cats nails, regularly. Who does that? They do :-) My cat needs it, trust me. Unfortunately, this last week, I needed the assistance with my oldest little terrier, as her health seriously declined. I had to make the painstaking decision to put her down. Emotionally, I am ill equipped for this task. The Physicians and staff at Pets first took all efforts to make this step, as comforting as possible for me and my pup. They literally rolled out the red carpet when I arrived and handled us both with such sincere loving, respect and genuine kindness. I feel so fortunate to have become their client a year ago. Not that this matters but the cost of this procedure was so gentle and affordable. I have heard other stories from my peers. I have suffered the loss of a long time canine best friend but I have the support of my professional team to remind me why a group like this, is so important in the all around Health and wellness for my pets and my peace of mind. I highly recommend anyone, looking for a Veterinarian clinic for their pets to consider this wonderful group of Doctors, technicians and office staff. Thank you, very, very much Pets First.

Very professional and quick. They're great with my puppy who's a pit bull Lab mix. I will say they are a bit pricey but that's to be expected.
