I know most reviews here speak about "how helpful, how courteous, how caring the staff is." How they helped "in spite of credit" and so forth... I am not taking away from any of that.
I purchased a vehicle in late March 2024... I have not purchased anything on credit for about 20 years, cash on hand or else don't buy.
However due to the economy this is the 1st thing since we are doing credit.
We did not come here because of the dealership itself, we came here because we found a vehicle through CarFax.
Once they sweet talked us into the office 3 different people came to tell us "Oh this is a great deal, oh you're getting a great financing rate, oh you got a nice low monthly payment". Now I see the tactic ?. We agreed on a price, monthly payment, no payments for 45-60 days, and the interest rate. Then right before signing the last documents the interest rate had gone up and instead of 45-60 days no payment, 1st payment would be due in 30 days.
We purchased the extended warranty "bumper to bumper" (hardly).
While test driving the SUV, the check engine light was on, the employee said "oh I'll make sure it is taken care of before you drive out the lot". They said it was old code for an O2 sensor.
We drove off, we had the vehicle for 2 days and the check engine light came back on, vehicle was shaking while on idle. We had rain that week and there was water coming through the lift gate. Brought it back to the dealer and the sales lady took the vehicle to the mechanic onsite, we waited about 2 hours and he brought it back stating he'd changed the O2 sensor and adjusted the lift gate to avoid leakage. Kool, we drove off and within a week, the check engine light cane back on. So I returned and dropped it off with the same sales person (I will not use her name). She said come back in the afternoon. We picked it up and they said they took care of the issue and should not arise again, I was not given a print out nor explainition of what was done because the people who worked on it were gone for the day.
Guess what happened after 3 days?!? Yup, the darn lift came back on. I went in but was told I needed to speak to the lady in charge of service department, but she was on vacation and would return next week. OK, I called next week and she was out for lunch, however I went in a different day and a different person helped me out after she called the lady in charge of service dept. but informed me I needed to take it to the Ford dealership and have them diagnose it and bring back the print out and they would be willing to work with me on the labor and parts.... "Wait, what?!?" I needed to pay Ford to have it diagnosed, and then pay for parts and labor for them to fix the preexisting issue that was never resolved....
In June the serpentine belt broke (of course warranty does not cover it) it is not part of the 'bumper to bumper ". Paid $500 out of pocket at a reputable repair shop. The following week, the AC went out. "OK kool, maybe the warranty we bought will pay for this!" Well not really, they did not cover the entire cost, we still dished out $800 out of pocket. We have receipts for everything. They diagnosed it for us and guess what came up regarding the check engine light? Yup, the darn O2 sensor.
I went to this dealership again, hoping they would be willing to work with me and make things right... well, nope. "Sir your extended warranty is almost run out, you need to pay Ford to diagnose it, and then bring the print out and we can work with you on the parts and labor costs, that's per my manager."
Moral of the story? I'll let you decide. Was I wrong for what I did? Hmm?
