I took a Craftsman Ratchet as a lifetime warrantied item,to see if they d fix it or like Sears used to do,exchange it,no questions asked,that was the beauty of Craftsman/Sears,but Cust service said I needed a receipt,I don't keep receipts that long,this is probably 25+ yrs,so I was turned away with my defectice ratchet,I figured it wouldn t be difficult to fix.
Ratchet is an easy fix: remove the front ring to access the ball bearing and spring inside,remove and reposition the ball bearing in it s cavity to make the directional switch work again,I placed a little bit of grease and now I have a ratchet that will outlive me.
It took me less than 5 minutes to fix it,no new parts were needed.

Craftsman was a nice brand due to it s unconditional warranty,hand tools only,mind you,under Lowe's ownership is not a brand I would buy,H.D. and other brands do not require receipt to honor a lifetime warranty.
Once you open and see the inside of the ratchet,you will understand why not to use it as a hammer,even as tempting and easy as that is.

Cleaning and repairing toilets at my rental. A few minutes at HEB for ammonia and bleach. About the same for toilet parts at Lowe's.

Customer service at Lowe's was lousy. I waited 20 minutes and no one came to help me out. Seven different employees walked by and not one of them asked me "can I help you, sir" and not one of them looked me. To busy to help a old man out. So I walked out.
The pathetic thing is that customer service has gotten lousy across the board, I guess it's the sign of the times.
A lot of people want money but they don't want to work for it. DOWNRIGHT PATHETIC. I'LL NEVER WALK INTO A LOWE'S AGAIN.
