“Was referred to this location for physical therapy by my GMG PCP due to MRI results. Front office staff were very friendly and professional each visit. My health history was discussed with a physician & a treatment plan was created. Each PT session consisted of stretching & movement. A heat modality was applied as well. A few times it was applied prior to the session but the majority of time, it was applied at the conclusion. Within 3 PT sessions, improvement was noticeable. At the completion of all sessions, it was if the issues I was treating for had never existed. Thank you GMG PT!!”

“Been to this location twice in January 2024. An absolutely wonderful experience each time. Staff members greet you the minute you walk in the door with a smile on their face and IN their voice. After you're checked in, they'll direct you to the proper waiting area. One is for patients to see their doctor. Others are for labs, etc. These waiting areas are spacious and the "wait time" is not long at all. Multiple restrooms are located throughout the building. My physician created a treatment plan I am very comfortable with. I look forward to working with my new family at Gonzaba Medical Group on Bandera Road!!”

“Dr. Uzowulu Is very friendly, respectful, empathetic and knowledgeable. He put my son at ease just by engaging with him and listening to his concerns. The staff was also friendly and helpful. The wait time to see Dr. Uzowulu was less than 10 minutes. I highly recommend him.”

“I give Dr Jimmy 5 stars but he lost one due to his office staff. I want to start by saying how much I absolutely love Dr. Jimmy Baros. He’s the reason I continue to drive all the way to this office. His bedside manner is truly unmatched, he listens carefully, never rushes appointments, and genuinely seems to care not only about my health but about my life. That kind of attention and compassion is rare, and it’s exactly why I chose this practice in the first place. He makes you feel seen, heard, and valued as a person.

Unfortunately, the same can’t be said for my recent experience with the front office. I called today around 2:40 PM with a question about my husband’s prescription and was met with an incredibly rude response. The woman on the phone dismissed me and said, “I’m not going to play the guessing game.” I wasn’t trying to make anyone guess I was just asking for help.

It was a disappointing and frustrating moment that didn’t reflect the high standard of care Dr. Jimmy sets. Patients should be treated with courtesy and patience, especially when they’re reaching out for support. One rude interaction like this can really impact the trust and comfort we have in an office. DR Jimmy's previous staff was excellent I had never been treated like this before. I don’t know if its new energy but lately, the front office staff energy totally changed this year.

I truly hope this was a one-off, and I’m sharing this not out of anger, but in hopes that the same level of respect and kindness Dr. Jimmy shows can be upheld by the rest of the staff as well. He deserves a team that reflects his incredible care.”

“NP Russell Ross has been wonderful in treating me over the last few years. He listens and cares. After my original PCP moved out of state a few years ago, I spent time looking for a new practitioner who accepted my insurance, and I'm glad NP Ross' office does. He's under the guidance of Dr. David Sandercock (in case someone is looking for a new PCP). I'm also an Affordable Care Act & Medicare agent, so I understand the importance of finding trustworthy doctors. An added bonus is that there's a Labcorp for blood work and tests in the same building. I feel like I'm in good hands here.”

He treats the patent holistically by learning about their life and imparting wisdom, but he does this in a subtle way, by telling stories. Quaint stories which have nudged me to choose better and think happier. His nurse is also wise and kind. His staff is caring, efficient, and best of all. . . wait for it. . .available when you call! No phone tree to navigate then end in a voice mail! You are lucky if you get to be a patent in this beautiful clinic.”

“Had appt this morning at 7:45 for a follow up with bloodwork. Received a text as well as a personal call they will need to reschedule me since my provider was sick today. Thankyou for the proactive communication before I drove over, and then I received a call within ten minutes rescheduling my appointment to a different day. I see a lot of reviews saying poor service, long wait times etc. But I have been a patient over 20 years with this same practice even as it rebranded, and I try to empathize with the Office management staff AND Providers. In recent years there are WAY more patients with medical needs then providers available. The front office staff cannot control if a provider gets sick (Humans not robots, illness happens to Providers too), so they must scramble with their current massive workload to rebook a ton of appts quickly while servicing all patients who are seeing other providers concurrently. Was I disappointed I could not complete my appt., and have labs done today, yes. But, I am grateful the front office staff communicated, and were direct with expectations, and details. This IS a Monday, and an opportunity to show grace when things are not perfect. Thank you to this practice for all you do daily, because I am sure gratitude is rarely given as much as harsh criticism when ALL is not perfect. Sending good health, and light to all who may being having a cruddy Monday. Powering through the days until I can get answers during my next appointment.”

I have been a patient at Bandera Family Practice for over 8 years, and upon my return to San Antonio after a six-year absence, I was surprised to encounter negative reviews about this esteemed medical practice. Delving deeper into the issue, I discovered that the primary founder no longer owns the practice, but the legacy and quality of care are being continued under the stewardship of the new provider, Ronald Garcia.

It is unfortunate that some individuals feel entitled to a certain level of treatment and have expressed dissatisfaction in their reviews. I empathize with the desire for respectful and compassionate care, which should be a standard expectation in any medical setting. Personally, I have consistently received excellent care from Physician Assistant Dr. Brian Poliquin. He exemplifies respect, intelligence, and empathy towards his patients.

Despite now residing 15 miles away from the office, I continue to choose Bandera Family Practice now rename with new ownership Village Medical for my healthcare needs. I appreciate the efficiency and professionalism of the staff, including the nurses who diligently attend to each patient's needs. Understanding the complexities of medical practice, I am willing to wait my turn, recognizing the amount of paperwork and compliance requirements that these professionals manage.

It's important to consider the challenges faced by general practitioners who strive to maintain high standards amidst the pressures of administrative duties and patient demands. In my experience, the negative reviews do not reflect the exceptional care and positive outcomes I have witnessed at this practice. “I'm not sure when other patients will be notified about the new leadership and practice going on at this location, but I believe it is extremely important that they at least know the new place is an amazing experience. Despite having a mix-up in information for my appointment, all of the employees and the nurse-practitioner herself were very friendly and helpful. I had a great time conversing with them during my appointment and learned a lot of new things. I even thought it wonderful that I was able to make a connection with the check-out personnel as she was very kind and thoughtful!
