This has got to be one of the worst experiences I have received from a doctors office. Being new to SA I found this office online. Every time you need a med refill you have to go in and pay a copay. I had an X-ray done and never received a call from the doctor. After a week, I called to ask about my results. I couldn't reach anyone at the office and when I hung up I received a text message asking if I wanted a call back. When I replied yes, I received a text message 5 hours later asking "have you been helped". As the conversation continues, I replied no and got a txt asking "how can I help you." Once I explained my issue, I received a text back saying you have mild arthritis. WHAT?! So I call to speak to a live person and the person on the phone says the exact same thing. When I asked to speak to the nurse or doctor they just explained that the chart says that I have mild arthritis. I can come in to see the doctor. AND PAY ANOTHER COPAY!! for X-ray results! This doctors office is very impersonal and will copay you to death. I DO NOT recommend this office. You are welcome to not believe me and try if for yourself but don't say you were not warned!

opinion about treatment options for endometriosis. The Dr. kept insisting that I get my thyroid checked, ordered a ton of expensive texts and requested that I get my blood drawn before leaving. The phlebotomist was extremely rude when she saw me wincing at the needle she gives me a stone face and says “it shouldn’t be hurting you that bad.”I let her finish and told front desk staff and my complaint wasn’t even acknowledged. Then I’m asked to schedule a follow up appt to get my results. It was scheduled for 5:15 pm. I did not get a link until 6:45 pm. There was no call or text to inform me during that time that the Dr. was behind schedule until I started making a fuss about it at 6:00 pm.The staff is rude and will over bill you every chance they get. I will be changing PCP’s. This is so sad because I was so excited to have a black primary Doctor as it is rare to see in San Antonio. But her office and staff are cold and money hungry. All they want to do is waste time and money and you will never get an apology for it.Additional reasons I will no longer go to Dr. Cobbinah:1. Rude staff2. Lost money that I paid for future cosmetic work.3. Poor communication4. Lack of cost transparency5. Unable to reach the by phone.6. Long wait times (2 hours +) for telehealth visits7. Rushed services8. Not addressing the reason for my appointment9. Delayed prescriptionsThey also treated my husband poorly. I found a different dr and will get my services there don’t be fooled by the office paying for good SEO. They do not care about their patients only your money. I recommend not going here unless you have money and time to waste.

Billing issues with this practice. Purchased trusculpt 2 visits for $2500, ended up being too painful for me (everyone has a different reaction) I asked to be reimbursed for the unused visit. The staff sent me a txt informing me I could indeed get reimbursed unused $$$. Never received. Reached out again and then was told, doctor changed her mind and I wasn’t going to be reimbursed. The $2500 was only for 1 visit. A few weeks later charged a no show fee although I tried calling over the weekend as I was traveling internationally but was told it wasn’t a business day. Reached out several times to try and resolve with doctor. Requested telehealth appt and was told that it wasn’t available or even an option. I would have to make appt in person. Was given two days and times and asked for the earliest available. I was then told that same day it was no longer available and the next appt was in January 2024. Unacceptable! Unprofessional team & provider. When you try and try and the provider doesn’t take the time for even a phone call or telehealth something is very wrong. Disappointed.

Nurse Practitioner was excellent but the unnecessary fees are astronomical. A fee to discuss normal lab results that are located within the portal for free. This has never been an issue at my last PCM. Also, requires a referral for a bi annual pap. Excessive fees are a huge red flag for me as I have always been very healthy.

Update: I have updated my review due to improvements I have seen. The Staff has gotten better and there is still work to be done here.Maude is a good PA, and a keeper. She needs to slow down and listen more. Happens when you been doing her job a long time. Her knowledge and experience is golden!Dr Cobbinah is a good doctor with a lot of good energy. The practice has grown. She needs to advocate more for the patient with the insurance companies instead of having someone else do it and produce terrible results on appeals. Put more effort there as much as in the pricing of all the ascetics and with getting in that copay from patients.

If I could give zero stars I would. And as a POC & a military wive I really wanted to like this place. They look the part, but they are very unorganized, and they LOVE love looooooove to charge patients for random fees after they have paid for services (even with good health insurance & confirming that all services have been paid). They'll contact you out the blue a year later requesting payment for that very same service (in hopes you forgot about it). Then when you ask about what the charges are for, they'll act like they don't know. Plus, they'll try to keep contacting you to request additional services that you don't need in order to milk you & your health insurance company. So, I would HIGHLY NOT RECOMMEND this place to ANYBODY!

Dr. Cobbinah is my general practitioner here at Essential Med Clinic. She is amazing and has helped me understand a little more about keeping myself healthy.She suggested cutting down on my consumption of red meat to lower my cholesterol. I was also at risk of hypothyroidism at the time in January of this year. Six months later I get my blood work done and I’m back to normal! She is kind, informative and caring of your needs and concerns. I’ve never had a long wait time and her and her staff are efficient in their care of patients. I highly recommend their practice to anyone needing new and amazing doctor.

I have been a patient here since October 2022. I started after almost dying in the hospital for medical reasons and both NP Maude and Dr. Cobbinah have helped me in my health journey since then. They actually listen and care about their patients and want us to get better and will try their best to help and guide us. The staff are all nice and try their best to give us the best service possible. I feel so taken care of when coming here and will continue to do so for as long as possible.

Where are the negative stars??? OmG... JUST NO. Many things, starting with ordering unnecessary tests just to charge me $340 additional to the rest, for a yearly check up. Freda barely looked at me, busy filling out surveys on her laptop. Lab lady took forever, appointment was at 11am and I was fasting. By the time they actually took my blood samples it was almost 1pm and I was about to faint and nauseous. Lab lady arguing with me because I refused the test they wanted to overcharge me for. They "don't email for security" but will text and call. "Paperless" but overall just not what I'm looking for in a provider AT ALL. Additionally, after having gone to pick up a paper and wasn't charged for it, they now claim I owe $3.37. That is literally a write off, but they want it paid. So they can take my money, give me my medical files and lose a patient for good. Will never recommend this place at all.

After searching for a primary care doctor and seeing such great reviews about Dr. Cobbinah, I am so glad I made an appointment with her to find these reviews to be true! Her level of care is amazing, and I truly appreciate how she genuinely listened to my concerns and addressed each one thoroughly. It truly feels great to know she has my best interest in mind!Totally recommend!

It was important to me to find a doctor who would hear me and I found exactly that with Essential Med Clinic. Since I have been coming to this clinic, I have been able to address my health and find actual solutions that help. Thank you to the entire staff for treating me with respect and patience.

first of all, the wait time is super long, despite having appointments. it seems like there is no urgency within any of the employees. average waiting appointment time is around 30-40 min (this includes the time you walk in to the time dr. cobbinah comes in the room). even when she does come in the room, she talks with you for 5 min, makes you feel rushed & not heard, & then you leave. i feel like i am being judged when i come to discuss my eating habits, & it's all in all not a very good place to visit. it's clean & workers are average. nothing special abt this place at all.
