Dishonest, misleading thieves.Rented a car here through my AAA membership. I knew the price going in. The rep asked if I wanted to add insurance. He said it was $18. I said okay. A few days later i return the vehicle to find that it was $18 per day. The rep never said it was PER DAY. I was under the impression that it was $18 FLAT since he didn't say otherwise.to Dollar Rental CarI want a refund on all the insurance charges OVER 1day's worth.I sent an email to customer service and got an auto-reply that said I'd hear back in 72 hours. I didn't hear back so I tried again. Still never heard back.I received an automated "how was your experience?" request and when I filled it out and shared my experience there was a question "would you like to be contacted about your experience?" so I said yes. Then I recieved another automated response with a "case number" saying they're sorry I wasn't happy and they want to ensure that the problem gets resolved. So I reply, that's great, when can I expect the refund? No reply. I follow up again....several days later and still no reply.I finally find a number to call so I call it and i end up at a call service center in frickin India and the guy who I can barely understand tells me there's nothing he can do and I should try calling the location I rented from. Fine. Do you have that number? He gives me that number and it just goes to some unbranded voicemail. I'm not leaving my information there. So I look it up myself and all I can find is this Yelp listing and I tried calling the phone number associated with it. Guess where I end up? Back in frickin India.Just a runaround bunch of BS. Use my experience as a lesson....make sure you know EVERY PENNY you're being charged ahead of time. Make the rep speak clearly and slowly and give you all the details.Also.....if you're renting a vehicle through your AAA membership, guess what? YOU DONT EVEN NEED TO ADD MORE INSURANCE!Dollar Rental Car can SUCK IT..

Every time you call customer service for the local office, you cannot reach anyone! My flight lands at 10:40 but they close at 11pm. I am trying to call to make sure someone will still be in the office for me to pick up car but cannot reach anyone! So far horrible service and I do not want to rent with this company!

Read the agreement before you sign, even if you verbally decline fees. They will charge you anyway. They charge astronomical fees for roadside assistance & damage insurance even if you already have it through insurance & other services.

This place is a joke. I've been waiting for over 2 hours for a car I rented and paid for weeks ago. The line is out the door and the 2 attendants they have working have exactly zero sense of urgency. Take my advice. Rent elsewhere

THIS IS A TERRIBLE LOCATION!!! I go by my middle name, but my driver's license and credit cards clearly show my full name. An idiot named Genesis denied my reservation because Expedia refers to me by my middle name, not my first. Genesis said Expedia had to fix it and send the reservation back to Dollar. Expedia said they can't fix it because the reservation is now in Dollar's computer system. I tried just making a new reservation, but it was $200 more. Ended up using National and paid $160 more than my original Dollar reservation. I'll be visiting this location to talk to Genesis's boss very soon.

It was really easy and the vehicle was clean and brand new (minivan). Returning the vehicle was miraculously simple and fast. Not kidding.

Looks like many are having the same issue here regarding the insurance offered. I have also decided to deny the insurance offered however still got billed for it. When renting be aware of your rights to deny and make sure you do not get billed. As far as the rental process it runs pretty smooth unless you run into certain counter representative one in particular to look out for is Tryphena she is terribly rude, And is not helpful at all. If you get her wait and ask for another rep. Frank is awesome and so is Emerald they are quick and helpful !

There's one guy running the counter/Kiosk, there was one person at the check in counter downstairs (San Antonio airport) people have been waiting nearly an hour. This is ridiculous. I could understand if it was a holiday or a weekend but it's Thursday night.. Last time I will ever use Dollar again!

Great experience today at the airport car rental location! I was able to pick up early and the person who helped me at the front desk, Ivan, was pleasant, very helpful and remarkably handsome. Ivan gave me some interesting leads of how to get my day started and I couldn't be more pleased! Also, when I was allowed to go pick my rental vehicle, Penny, was patient and polite.

Won't ever rent a car thru these guys again..I rented a standard suv and they tried to get me to pay more to up grade to the vehicle I had already paid for. I returned it on the day I was supposed to then I get a bill 7 days later that I got Chatham an additional 6 days at $90.45 a day ... it's been weeks and I still haven't had the money returned to my bank account...customer service is a call center in India... so I wouldn't recommend dollar rent a car to anyone

Rented a car from Dollar Car Rental. Had booked via Orbitiz. Was going pretty smoothly at pickup, but apparently they like to change the information after you leave the counter. We declined the insurance coverage and the agent asked for the name of our insurance company "for the record". We gave that to her. We finished up the transaction and signed the tiny terminal screen. She sent the receipt to email and we thought all was ok until we got the charge on our credit card. She charged us for insurance even though we declined it. Numerous phone calls and emails, but Dollar Car Rental stands by their agent. Fortunately, American Express considered it a fraudulent charge and gave us a credit. My husband was there as a witness and even remembered me telling them we also had coverage via American Express.

This is the worst rental car company, I rented a car online to visit my grandson at basic training graduation. My confirmation paperwork indicated I owed 85.00 at pickup only to find out I owed 285.00 so no car , no refund , no apology , no help and no response so I only hope you enjoy my 500.00 dollars you stole from someone on a fixed income, I’ll wait till my next social security check comes to buy groceries, thank you CEO.

I was on military orders and had originally reserved a compact car. The agent kept insisting that I upgrade. I informed her that I would not be reimbursed for any additional charges. She insisted that there would be no additional charges because there was a current promotion for military and government employees. I eventually agreed at her persistence. I'll admit I should have looked at the contract that included an additional charge, buti was in a hurry and trusted that everything was in order. When I turned the car in, I noticed the additional charges. When I brought it to the attention of the agent at the counter, she questioned my integrity stating that the agent who helped me had been with the company for 15 years and would never make a mistake. I assured her that I was very clear with the initial agent that additional charges would not be reimbursed and was promised that the upgrade was free. She raised her voice and said that she had a hard time believing that. I asked if there was someone else who I could speak to. She told me to go wait at the end of the counter and her manager would assist me. Eventually the manager came to speak with me and took my information and said that only a director can overide the charges. She assured me that I would recieved a return call, but 3 days later I have heard nothing. At this point I would not recommend this specific Dollar Rental to anyone. I hope they will do the right thing, but based off of how I was treated, I have low expectations.

This place was garbage. We rented a car about 5 weeks prior to arrival at San Antonio airport. We arrive on time and walked up to the rental car counter to handle our reservation and get the keys to the car we reserved. The counter staff were prompt and quick, however the service quickly turned to garbage when we walked up to he 4th level garage to retrieve our car. First, there wasn't any signs or Dollar employees directing us where to go. The area was covered in "Hertz" signs and Hertz colors. Second, there was a lot of people standing around in the cold and all of them confused about how to retrieve their vehicles. One guy had been waiting over an hour for his "reservation." What is the point of reserving a car if you have to stand around in the cold for 90 minutes while the staff try to figure out where you vehicle is? Completely unsatisfactory. We finally retrieved our vehicle after 1 hour wait in the cold. I felt horrible for the families with small children and babies that were standing around in cold. I feel Dollar needs to step up their game. Treat their customers better and have the cars ready when the customers arrive!!! That's the whole idea of making reservations. If you can't honor this, than get out of the business!

I rented a car and paid for the convenience of not having to Uber anywhere. I forgot a bag of souvenirs in the car. I immediately called and reported what I had forgotten and exactly where it was so that the employees could retrieve my items and I could pay to have them sent to me. I was directed to the website lost and found. I filled out the proper forms which were confusing to complete properly, but I eventually managed to do so. And all of this for nothing because Dollar rent A car will not return my emails and nothing has become of the claim I submitted. Very disappointed. I will not endorse a company that does not value their customers. My next trip out of town will definitely not include a rental from Hertz or Dollar. (Same company)
