History Oriented Souvenir ShopThey're closing after this season; which is unfortunate, because there are plentiful activity souvenirs, reprints of old-timey books, figurines, clever history focused tshirts, and cute plushies. They're located in front of the Menger Hotel; and right now, everything is 50%, absolutely worth stopping in.

I had high hopes when I saw this gift shop on the way to The Alamo. Unfortunately it's just another low end souvenir shop, full of junk made in China.Nothing impressive honestly and the store owner was extremely rude. I'm not sure what his deal was but a little courtesy can go a long ways.To the store owner: If you don't want people sitting on the chest, that is in front of the stuffed animal, how about putting a sign or maybe some products there to deter people from sitting on it?There's a sign for the animal, not for the trunk. Obviously this has been an issue for you, based on how you thought you were going to talk to my son. Remove or rectify the situation and you solve your problem.Barking at paying customers is just bad business. Arguing with them when they politely asked for a little courtesy is even worse.Good luck with that business you're running.

As a huge Davy Crockett & Alamo buff, I LOVE this gift shop. The staff are super friendly and very knowledgeable. They have a great variety of historical narratives, clothing, toy soldiers, and other merch. I make sure to stop by every time I visit!

The chicken plush is the cutest thing!Atmosphere:Very cozy, it's like a log cabin on the inside with rustic furniture and merch. It is not the biggest store but definitely nails it's theme.Merchandise:I liked the variety. Some I thought who would buy this? But most of it was pretty coolVerdict:The store appeals the historical tourist I personally found the musket candy very cute, and a nice gift for my uncle who hunts.

Nice selection of Alamo-themed t-shirts, toys, and gifts. This is a must shop if you are in downtown San Antonio.

We were exploring the Menger Hotel and came across this little shop. The owner? was charming because I immediately noticed the Scottish voice telling a story on his sound system. Then it started playing Bagpipe music! Fantastic! It has some wonderful souvenirs. A nice variety. Unfortunately, nothing I was looking for that day but I walked by many times during my stay.

The person manning the store was unprofessional and rude. There was an item in the glass case with a price tag that I wanted to purchase. When he rang it up the price showed double. I informed him of the error and he said there was nothing he could do about it. I asked for a manager and he laughed, and said the manager isn’t here and won’t try to contact him. I tried to compromise to sell the item at 75% of the register price but again he insisted that he would do no such thing. Shame, but considering everything in the store can be bought at other shops in the area for half the price I’m not that surprised by the lack of integrity.

WONDERFUL shop full of interesting collectibles, tshirts, toys, and much more. The staff is knowledgeable and loves engaging with visitors. If you're not interested in making a purchase, that's ok! The store has info graphics all over the walls about Davy Crockett and his life and death during the Texas revolution. We had a blast reading the panels, listening to their music, and conversing with the staff, and their Davy Crockett re-enactor! This shop made our San Antonio trips much more interesting, and we can't wait to come back!
