I have lived here over 8 years. During that time 5 bikes have been stolen. Now keep bike IN apt. Yesterday at noon my suv was impounded. It had the TroveParkingPermit hanging from front mirror. Had to take bus in heat and walk a lot with a painful leg as I am 71 and disabled. Paid $234.41 to get SUV back. This is second time it happens. First time my Jeep was parked in Handicapped parking space. Last week my sister visited and she was towed. My brother visited for Thanksgiving several years ago. He got towed. He hasn’t visited since. Other residents have been towed as well. It is outrageous. The expense & inconvenience is outrageous! Not right.

My husband and I have been living at this community for less than 6 months. There has been several instances of our packages being stolen from our front door. During the most recent instance, the package was at the door for less than an hour before someone stole it.
Management refuses to address the issue, even when we simply ask they release a community wide email to inform and educate the residents on how to safe guard their assets and that STEALING isn’t tolerated.
The only pro about Trove Southtown is the location. Other than that, management doesn’t care about the safety of their residents and is fine with fostering an environment that encourages stealing.

TLDR -- do not recommend living here unless you like roaches and filthy common spaces. Also the area is gentrified, so still have many wanderers and some random folks up to no good at night. Unfortunately, my partner's car was broken into twice, and too many stolen packages while I've lived here since August 2023. Can't wait to move on.
This apartment complex does a good job with pool maintainenance each week, fitness center is clean, and leasing office staff is friendly.
The list of poorly maintained is endless. Took about 5 weeks to get approved for a unit, that wasnt available to view at the application time bc it was still leased, and then the unit wasn't even clean or ready on the day of move in, so the complex had a cleaner cleaning while we moved in. Our bathrooms had mold buildup on Day 1 (pic) that went unaddressed from the move-in inspection list. On top of that, roaches were everywhere inside our apartment and we've had to apply our own roach treatment ourselves to address this issue in our unit. I've probably killed smaller roaches in every single room of this unit and certainly lots of big roaches in the resident hallways to and from the trash dumpsters/carports/fitness center. There is dog poop and trash all over and overflowing from the trash bins. I originally was paying for a garage parking spot, but my assigned spot was always taken and the office doesn't keep tenants compliant for parking in the proper designated spot. Dont get me started on the Towing here. The towing company is exploitative, and the office staff takes no accountability for the lack of towing signs not posted on the property. My partner's car was broken into twice while parked in the paid carports here. The leasing office supervisor, Nadia, told my partner to park in the garage and provided a designated enlcosed garage spot with a remote to safely park in the garage; there was a slug bug already parked in the assigned garage unit, so we had to go get the remote recoded at the office bc another tenant's remote was opening the assigned garage unit to us and parked their car in there, so again, there is no parking regulation or compliance at all. The security guard even shared once that the apartment complex management doesn't care who is parked anywhere as long as they have the red apartment parking permit.....so why am I paying for a paid spot?? Also, when i had called USPS about an insured package that was stolen, the postal service shared with me that they had made the management here aware that the Trove mailroom had been broken into and tenant's mail may have been stolen. And then I had to be the one to request via email that the apartment management make other tenants aware of this lack of security and safety. It's not been great.
Anyway, my rent is $1705/month, 2br/2.5ba. The location is fun, Rosa at the leasing office is great, and the tall ceilings are amazing, but overall, not worth it to live with the roaches, sketch neighborhood, disorganized corporate property management staff, and bare-minimum maintenance staff.

Current resident wanting to get out ASAP. There's been a plethora of issues, at least one or two a month since being here. There's been ROACH infestations, car break-ins including someone trying attempted THEFT on my car, UNMANAGED garage compliance, UNMANAGED carport compliance. Have had to contact office several times to have them ask tenants to get off of my paid parking spots. Mailboxes have been broken into, I've had atleast 3 packages stolen within minutes of receiving it at my door. Have seen dumpster divers gain access to the complex and walk the floors. Have left for work in the morning to discover people sleeping in the carports. Pet areas are unkept, and even their entrance area by the gym has filth building up since I've lived here. I reported mold in my bathrooms and mold growing from an exposed pipe that had no overflow and has flooded twice now with no solution offered to prevent it "it's an old building". They also referred to the mold on the maintenance request as 'organic matter' or mildew. What are they hiding? Doors are often propped open exposing tenants to non-residents. These non-residents also gain access to the pool on weekends and have large parties. I see them wait by doors and place a rock to keep them open.
Regardless of countless police reports, maintenance request, and office accomodations, this property management group has fostered stressful unsafe environment. For what I paid and expected, it turned out to be a complete waste of money and my personal safety and that of my property.
They do not notify tenants of any new changes such as amazon package machine never having worked, and not being intended on being fixed. Do not notify tenants of break-ins, reported stolen packages, any risks in the community or area. NOTHING. Oh wait, the valet trash you pay for that may or may not be picked up everyday, if you don't put your trashcan back in your house after they've retrieved the trash, you'll receive an endless amounts of reminders. I've lived all over San Antonio, and other cities up to 15+ apartments. This has to be the WORST one and most EXPENSIVE. Safety, security, communication, and management are not worth the exchange of the rent rate plus location. Wouldn't do this again or refer anybody here.
OH I forgot to mention their questionable relationship with the towing company who does not maintain their signs leaving people exposed to corrupt practices and the tow company moves your car to a storage facility. EVEN if they illegally tow you cannot dispute it with the facility you get your vehicle from. I attached a photo of their current sign still not having the tow sign and a night picture of me finding it discarded and putting it back and that photo was a week prior to the new one.
*if you lease here, don’t have expectations and be comfortable with non-residents accessing the grounds. The building has a funky smell, high crime, suspicious relationship with towing company, and poor management. Don’t say I didn’t tell you so.

Assistant manager very unprofessional. Ever since new management it’s been down hill and whole apartment smells like dog piss and trash.

THE Most noise I have ever been defenseless against due to landscape, tow trucks , Construction, any number of reasonable noice decibel level. Numerous nonobservant noise levels from surrounding and on property workers. inexcusable!
Management will say they can’t do anything, just plain unacceptable.
one lady/man working the trash is angry and rude. Raising her voice with an attitude to not touch the trash, while she sits on the truck bed. How are we supposed to know she worked there. Why is it not allowed to look for materials to repurpose. what’s going on here ??

UPDATE they called to apologize and make it right. Offered a new tour with community manager and an apology
They keep sending email each day about wanting you to visit but I have gone 2x on weekends to ask basic questions and have been told to come back on Monday. Nobody is really interested in seeing you.
I toured the apt last year and this year wanted to recheck options
. Went there and was not seen. Come back Monday. They must full no need to be excited about potential residents

Despite residing here for five years, my experience with the ongoing roach infestation has been frustrating. Despite multiple complaints to the office, the issue remains unaddressed. Pest control visits, including bombing treatments, have proven ineffective. I’ve specifically pointed out that the infestation likely stems from appliances like the stove and dishwasher, yet the office dismisses maintenance responsibility and ignores repair requests. Disappointing lack of action and accountability.

I’ve been living here for going on a year now and it’s by far one of the best places to live, all the girls in the office are professional and friendly, they are always willing to go above and beyond to make sure your needs are met. Great amenities, and a rockstar maintenance crew to keep everything running smoothly!
