My mom needed an extremely firm mattress that included wood inside of it. Noticeable smell of fumes that made her, my brother, and me nauseous. Was told to air out the mattress for the day. They do not know how the plywood was treated. Luckily they still had the mattress we wanted to dispose of and returned it. The mattress we bought is now being sent back to be inspected. Documenting this now because of health concerns because my mom is now sick.
Will update this review if things improve, and if they can solve the horrible wood smell. Was not worth having my mom get sick from the smell of the mattress.

In May I was having spinal surgery and needed to replace my old mattress to help my recovery so I went to the Cantwell showroom the week before. They normally build mattresses to order, but were happy to sell me a lightly used floor model and an adjustable base. It turns out that the wrong floor model was brought out to me, but the folks at Cantwell brought the correct one out my home the very next day while I was still recovering in the hospital.
The mattress itself is top notch, very good workmanship and some of the latest features like locally-sourced cotton, latex layers and microcoils, all for half the price of a top of the line mattress at a big box store. If for some reason I need another mattress I'll definitely be returning. I would have written this review sooner but I had another surgery just 3 weeks ago, and I'm really glad I got this mattress to help my recovery!

We had previously purchased our mattress from Cantwell, and just absolutely loved it.
After building our forever home, we knew there was no reason to look elsewhere for our kids beds.
This company has my respect ?!
When I say it was the smoothest, friendliest, and down right best experience we had with any company, I mean that!
My daughter’s bed frame ended up being higher than standard, Cantwell without hesitation scheduled a follow up for them to change out the box spring, so it would be a better option for her.
We will forever refer anyone to them!
P.S. if you are worried about the cost being “higher” than regular mattress stores, I would compare their warranties, not to mention customer set. It pays for itself!

We came here 10 years ago, and when we needed a new mattress we decided we needed to get it from Reuben again. Cantwell has a great product and great service, along with a satisfaction guarantee that lets you have the bed softener or firmed up in the first year if it's not what you were expecting.

A few weeks ago, I called Ruben to order a new mattress for my friend who had severe back pain to the point that he could not sit for long periods or sleep through the night. In 2007, he had a similar episode and was told he would need back surgery. Instead, he bought a firm Cantwell mattress and the pain went away. Ruben looked up his order from 2007 and he and Mr. Cantwell had the same mattress constructed even though it was no longer offered. Fast forward several weeks -- his back pain has diminished to the point that he is exercising, sleeping well and almost pain free. Thanks Cantwell and Ruben!

Love a family-owned businesses that cares for their customers and provides excellent service and products!! Their mattresses are just PERFECT!! We asked for extra firmness and now that we've been sleeping on it for couple months, we love it more and more. Our next mattress will be a Cantwell. Thank you Cantwell!

This is the second mattress from the Cantwell mattress store in San Antonio. They have wonderful service prices are good and they stand behind their product, great warranty that you just don't see everywhere. When they tell you something ,they do what they say.

We bought our cantwell mattresses two years ago. Unfortunately, my husband developed some physical issues and getting in to bed became very difficult. We talked with Ruben about getting a different bed. My husband was thinking memory foam but Ruben suggested coming in first and discussing different options. Ruben patiently worked with us and had my husband try the memory foam which for him would not have been good. We told him the sides of the current mattress were too soft and made sitting on the bed and scooting back very difficult. I have wrist issues and was having some difficulty changing sheets even with raising the bed.Ruben had his guys shore up the sides and made the mattress a little lighter. His suggestions worked great!!!He saved us from buying a new bed that would not have helped.The delivery guys were prompt and very nice. Kudos all the way around.

5 stars only because it wont allow me to go any higher!One week ago today we walked into the showroom and were greeted by Reuben Martinez. He was so undertsanding and helpful, He didnt pressure us or try to persuade us to buy any certain mattress but instead showed us all the options so we could decide.We told him exactly what we wanted and he took it from there, He has the knowledge and patience to be such a great help.6 days later our custom made mattress arrived and we couldnt be happier. Cantwell Matress Co. has NO peers. My wife and I were discouraged in our efforts to find a firm queen mattress. Most vendors gave us a hard sell but had no products to match their blustery sales maneuvers. Then we pulled into Cantwell on McCullough and met Reuben, who did not try to coerce us, yet instead showed us three exceptionally firm mattresses. Furthermore, he promised that if within a year the mattress did not meet our needs, Cantwell would pick up the mattress, rework it, and reinstall it at no charge. I will NEVER shop for a mattress anywhere else.
