Dr. Kirby is the best vet I've ever had the pleasure of using. After several of my local vets found nothing wrong with my pup, I took her to him because I had heard his weekend show on the radio. He found the problems immediately and fixed them. Now I drive all the way from Bastrop to his San Antonio office for visits.

Dr, Kirby was great, the leader of an equally great practice. My dog had pneumonia in March, and I had to go on a trip for business. I was very worried that he would pass on while I was away. I came back and he was nursed back to health and very happy to see me.

I wish I could give more stars. We have two very fearful dogs, one reactive fearful. Dr. Kirby came highly recommended from another family when we moved to San Antonio. It was recommended to us to seek vets with “fear friendly” practices for our dogs and Dr. Kirby and his office have been nothing but exceptional.
It can be very embarrassing and stressful taking your reactive dog to seek care but the staff have been so kind and understanding. I’ll be sad when we have to move again, but I truly cannot give enough praise to this practice.

Great folks, Dr Kirby is very communicative and you can tell he’s passionate about his work and cares about it his patients. Office staff is polite and efficient. Always know my pup is in good hands here.

Dr. Kirby is the best vet we have ever had. As English Bulldog owners, we’ve had a lot of vets for our rescues, and Dr. Kirby is one-of-a-kind. He diagnosed our late bulldog with a brain tumor when 4 other vets kept saying nothing was wrong with her (if we had come to him first, we would’ve had more time with her). He has also helped our current rescue dog. Her quality of life has improved tenfold from her unfortunate backyard breeder life. It is a drive for us to come here, but it is worth it.

Dr. Kirby really loves what he does and it shows. He takes the time to talk to you about your pet’s needs and make sure he answers all your questions. I felt much better about my kitten Mio’s care since I’ve switched him to AHPC because of it.
This clinic also has never tried to tack on unnecessary fees to make a profit. I got Mio neutered here for about $100 -$200. That included food and the boarding for two days to monitor his healing. What a great deal!
I’m very happy with this vet. I hope to bring him here for many years to come. (Unfortunately for them, as my boy is a biter. ?)

Dr. Kirby has been a God-send as I've navigated the health challenges of my 12 year old Catahoula. The whole staff has always been friendly and extremely helpful, and I've never felt like they try to push me into procedures or anything that are not necessary. I can't recommend them enough!

Their website says you can make an appointment but when you call the rude attendant said they only do drop offs at 7:30 in the morning. I have 2 older dogs and do not want to leave them caged all day just to get a heart worm test. Why have a website that says one thing and a staff that does another? I was put on several "brief" holds lasting over 12 minutes. Staff were rude and extremely unprofessional. Not giving my money or time to a place where this is the best they can do.

So the set up is a bit odd to get used to. You drop your pet off in the AM and you're not there during the exam and meet briefly with the doc afterwards. That being said, their proces are so beyond comparison, if you have questions they are extra responsive, and everyone is friendly and seems to care about your pet. Overall, love the staff, love the prices, love the experience.
