The gymnastics program is excellent here. The coaches are amazing and care about their athletes. They teach them about life skills, discipline and how to motivate themselves and each other as teammates. My daughter has the honor of being coached by the best coaches here (my daughters words) the dynamic duo Coach Mandy and Coach Caleb. My daughter originally started with Coach Caleb at a different gym but once he left it wasn’t the same and we found him coincidentally when we’re looking for another gym here at AHGA. Coach Mandy and him are a great coaching combination. Coach Mandy is excellent at teaching her athletes hardwork and dedication pays off, she teaches them life skills and wants them to succeed to the best of their abilities. My daughter was apprehensive about the beam but throughout the season she was able to overcome the challenges and accomplished her goal during competition season. Coach Mandy and Caleb had a lot to do with her success, they help your athlete to overcome fears and challenges in a positive way, this is what makes these gymnasts at AHGA stronger because they have a stronger mindset to overcome these type of challenges and have an “I can do it attitude”.When it comes to teams, I was a little scared of what to expect because I have heard it could be a lot. In comparison to the last gym we were at when we originally thinking of joining teams it seemed that all the competitions were out of state and consisted of long travel. I liked that AHGA kept it economically friendly for parents. The farthest we traveled was to Corpus and Houston, which is not very far at all. They also let you know of the competition schedule in advance before you sign the contract. At the other gym we were told they weren’t sure where all the competitions would be but we would have to sign the contract to commit to teams even though we weren’t aware of the locations. I prefer knowing what I am signing up for especially if there is a contract involved.Communication was great with our team and coaches. The only thing is that you have make sure to read the communications notifications in the team app. Yes it can be a lot but at least it’s all communicated in one place if you should ever need to go back. The coaches were friendly and approachable and were also very responsive in the app if you needed to message them.I have to add that the wonderful lady at the front desk “front desk “Jess”” is amazing, she’s so helpful and so knowledgeable about AHGA and if she doesn’t know the answer she can tell you who to ask. She is super friendly and just amazing!Coach Jenny the owner is amazing, she cares about her staff/coaches and recognizes all their hardwork in building the program. She talks to the athletes when she walks around during practice and she engages with them. All in all, if you’re looking to join a gymnastics team, I would recommend AHGA. They have the best gymnastics coaches and they are friendly and caring.

AHG has been a wonderful experience for us. My daughter started with their gymnastics program some time ago. From there, she moved to power tumbling then decided to attend their cheer camp.Since, she’s been enjoying their All-Star Cheer program and absolutely loves it!Their cheer program has been a life changer for my daughter. Her confidence, team building skills and athleticism have all grown tremendously in a short period of time. The coaches are wonderful, dedicated and extremely communicative on a weekly basis. This is a very structured program with a lot of commitment. We have our planned practices, extra practices and blackout weeks before comp if needed. All of this was presented from the very beginning so the expectations are clear. One of our favorite things about AHG/AAC is the family atmosphere. From the very beginning my daughter told me “this place feels like home”. Over the years, I’ve felt it too. The owner is the reason for that as she set the precedent for her business. She is warm, friendly, present and spends a lot of time on the gym floor engaging with her staff and the athletes. When the owner is present, a positive work ethic is presented and it shows.Overall, we’re extremely happy to be a special part of the AHG/AAC family! We won’t be leaving anytime soon!!

So to be clear, the gymnastics program is great. Compared to other gyms, your child will learn a great deal there.I would not recommend the cheer program. The program is unorganized, communication is poor, and the owner and coach are unprofessional.I was told that most gyms will give you a week’s notice for extra practices before competition. Our current gym announced all extra practices in advance first the season. This program is also not NCA if that’s what you’re looking for. There are other cheer programs out there that are better organized, professional, and have better communication. Our child did develop some foundational skills, but some movements did not align with NCA.If you can get past the cons, it may be a good fit if you’re getting into cheer.

My child looks forward to her gymnastics class each week. Coach Bri is amazing and so is the rest of the staff. Fun place for kids, but it seems to get more serious as they get older, they have tons of trophies to show their success. Great pick up/after school program for kids. Great place for kids to grow, great place to meet other parents!

This is such a great place for our little ones to learn gymnastics! The coach was really good and patient, and the space has tons of fun ways to explore. Highly recommend!

If you have open gym, do not have a gymnastics lesson going on at the same time! I really wanted to like this place, but it was straight up chaotic! We showed up for open gym (6 years old and younger) a few minutes early and got to see the previous class finishing up a lesson. When open gym started the kids began playing in the open areas...until that previous lesson took up 1/2 the floor for tumbling and vault practice. I can tell you with multiple children trying to play, it was hindering to watch kids run in front of the older girls still in practice. The girls were very respectful and watchful, but I fault the facility for allowing a practice to take up more than 1/2 the gym...inhibiting practice and certainly restricting the young children.

My daughters love going to Alamo Heights Gymnastics! The coaches are knowledgeable and engaged, and the environment is fun and high-energy. I highly recommend recreational classes and teams. They also have (the AAC) Alamo All-Star Cheer. My daughter has been a part of it since she was 5. Thank you, Coach Ashley, for believing in her. She loves you.

Unorganized, unprepared, unprofessional. I showed up for a class today and the assigned instructor was too busy teaching a different class. 10 minutes into the scheduled class and still no instructor available to teach. Extremely disappointing.

We are HUGE fans of this gym! Our daughter started summer camp there at age 4 then joined their first Competition Cheer team the following year. She is now 11, we had to move away last year and we miss them so much! It's really something special to have an amazing staff and the kids and families still keep in touch! HIGHLY recommend them to EVERYONE! HANDS DOWN THE BEST!

This gym is the best! We were new to San Antonio, and my daughter has been coming here for over a year now and absolutely loves it! My favorite thing about the staff is how encouraging they are with her. Coach Amanda goes above and beyond to keep her encouraged and confidence up !

AHGA is not only an awesome foundation for kids and young athletes ... it's an amazing atmosphere! It begins to feel like a second home and like you and your child matters. Many gyms are just about the money and business but Alamo Heights is very personable and close. I'm so happy we chose this gym!

When you charge $50 a day plus whatever ridiculous registration fee (I think it was $120), you'd think the employees could smile and say good morning when you drop off your rug rats. This doesn't apply to coach Amanda, though. She's great.
