I do not even know where to start. Maybe at the conclusion. There is no surprise that very few shelter animals are getting adopted out and it overflowing with the way this place is run. It needs a complete management overhaul from top to bottom. It is shameful. The city of San Angelo can surely do better than this. My suggestion is to put together a committee of concerned citizens and research how a well run effective shelter works.

Adopted kitten in 2017. Developed FIP. Supposedly nokill by 2020 but hasn't happened yet .Just called about a lost chipped cat but they have nothing on their phone tree regarding that. Critter Shack is a viable opportunity for adoption.

I find it absolutely disgusting that I was approved to work at the shelter and care for the dogs there but when I put in an application to adopt I was denied because of a assault charge from 2008 that was dismissed against an abusive ex. You would rather stick a needle in a dog and kill them than to give them a chance to have a family and a happy life. Those poor animals!!! Sleep well at night knowing your about to kill 14 dogs rather than let people adopt them then you want to pitch sob stories to the public. You euthanize dogs because you want too! There is other options!!

I love that the shelter if helping with animals and need and i would love to support it but my last experience was just shameful. Recently my last cat sprout went missing and has been missing for about two weeks. We’re convinced someone stole him or sadly he passed away. Mourning my loss i went back to the shelter inquiring about adopting another cat. I was told about their policy of waiting 3-6 months before adopting out again. That’s perfectly fine! I respect and understand the policy and I have no quarrels with it. But the staff that I talked to was so rude to me. She talked to me and my friend with condescension and acted as if Sprout still being lost was on us. She talked over us anytime she could, and said very rudely that we need to flag his chip and file a police report. I tried telling her that I did flag his chip and i tried filing a report but there wasn’t enough information. I continued to get talked over and judged. There are ways of informing people about your policies without being completely and utterly rude and disrespectful. I was and still am mourning my lost cat, and after that interaction I didn’t even want to try and adopt again. Your staff needs to watch how they talk to people.

wanted to adopt a cat so my current cat has a friend. people here do not follow up and do not answer calls. disappointing considering those animals are sitting in there, waiting for their moment to go home. it truly is a shame.

The staff was super helpful and kind! It was a super simple process, we saw a pupper we wanted to meet on the website, drive ivervto their facility, filled out an application, met said pupper, they allowed our dog to meet said pupper and after passing the application process we had a new member of the family!

Always says "sold out" check back next month for spay/ nueter vouchers. Still nothing when you check back on date it tells you to. No wonder there are so many animals reproducing all over town.

Wow... I honestly wish this place was ran by different people to be honest. We got our puppy here a couple months ago from here flea infested and had tics, over 50 fleas... Let's get started with Concho Paws and their staff, more importantly, their manager. Not gonna name any names but I will say, she is by far the worst possible person to run this place, the attitude and rudeness from this lady is honestly kinda outlandish. The conversations I've had with this lady has been nothing but disrespectful and rude, giving short answers and avoiding questions that I legitimately had for our puppy. Now onto the rest of their staff. There is two different buildings for Concho Paws, one where they keep all the older doggies at that are in the rows, and the other where they keep all of the puppies and really cute doggies to make sure they get picked up right away because, oh also, you HAVE to go to the other building if you really want to look at any other puppies because they keep them in the very back and have to have authorization to look at them. The staff that are at the actual animal shelter are beyond sweet an amazing, but honestly it doesn't really mean anything. Unfortunately, we did have to rehome our puppy due to us being too busy and our puppy having serious separation anxiety issues, hence being to Concho Valley Paws separating her and her mother right when they came into the shelter together at 9 weeks old, make that make sense. When we were trying to find places to rehome her we couldn't find anywhere in the area and the last thing that I wanted to do was bring her to this horrible place. My wife ended up calling them anyways, one of the girls that has always had attitude with us answered the phone and gave my wife nothing but horrible answers and rudeness, and she also said, "If you bring her back here we're gonna euthanize her" interesting that you really would put down a 16 week old puppy that could go to a much better home but they wouldn't even attempt. Overall, I think adopting from this place is fine, it is an animal shelter and every dog deserves to be in an amazing home, but all this place really cares about is money and making sure they can get by by making euthanizing lists. If you really want to adopt an animal, where you aren't going to have issues with paperwork, or getting their shot, or literally anything at all, go to Abilene which is about an hour away. As well as their website still states that they are a NON-euthanizing shelter, yeah that bs too. Hope this helps all the people that are animal lovers and wants better for this shelter.

We are new to San Angelo and we love Concho Valley Paws!! We are adopting our first dog from them(: Rescue a pet, visit CVP!!!! And volunteer!!! There are so many wonderful animals that need loving homes and also need support during their time at the shelter.
