Very caring and will take time to understand your pet’s situation and then make a recommendation rather than speed through and rush. I’m very grateful for the team members here!

Booked an appointment for my puppy. Called to verify pricing and wellness check information. I was told they wouldn’t tell me pricing for a heartworm test unless I paid $97 just to have my pet seen. I explained I wanted to make sure I could afford the test, as the appointment is only to get her on prevention, (the rescue is providing all her vaccines). Front desk restated, they only give out pricing once a visit is paid for. I will take my pet elsewhere.Update: Based on the response, they charge whatever they see fit for a standard heartworm test. Gross practice. I have chosen a vet that is upfront and honest about their pricing. Thanks

Saginaw VCA Hospital receptionist are the worst ever I’m gonna start with they have zero customer service skills. They are rude and angry all the time so I decided to take my dog to T-CAP they neuter cats and dogs for less than $60. You can get your rabies shot shots for five dollars and teeth cleaning for dogs for $100 and all the other shots that are necessary for animals are 75% cheaper than the vet and yes I was willing to pay full price for everything here until the receptionist yesterday was the biggest Karen ever first she put me on hold for 15 minutes then she comes back and says give me a second put me on hold again then she’s rude when I ask a question, but do you know what I realize she did me a favor by being mean and rude, because I took my dogs to T-CAP Fort Worth and I got my dogs spayed. They got his rabies shots Bordetella about four different shots and chip and also got heartworm medication for three months all for the low price of $350…. So thank you so much receptionist for being mean and cruel, and thank you for making it easy for me to go to T-CAP because I paid so much less .. and I hope you realize receptionists what you did was take business and money out of your doctors pockets by being rude so again thank you so much I will never take my animals to the Saginaw VCA until they get better help if I have to drive far away, I will so for those of you who ask why do they have bad ratings now you know why! So to the doctors at the VCA I hope you know these ladies are rude. They’re not doing their job and it is not the first time that I hear that people will not take their pets there because of the receptionists are unprofessional .being kind that’s how the whole transaction works and starts with the conversation but if you can’t even hold a conversation because people are rude to you then you don’t have a choice but to go somewhere else . I will not leave my money there, thanks … I also have to thank my friend for telling me about T-CAP…. Like I said, I didn’t want to go there cause I was afraid I don’t know anything about that business that’s why I was trying to go to the VCA to take my two dogs to get spayed, neutered, chipped, rabies shots, heartworm medication, the works I couldn’t do it after the receptionist was cruel to me, but after taking my pets to T-CAP they have an appointment to get the teeth cleaned next week.. it makes me sad because I used to only trust the VCA … i use them in Washington state and in Hawaii and they were awesome but they’re not all the same. I realize this when I called the Saginaw VCA. So my update is that my dogs have been taken care of and they’re so happy thank you VCA receptionist for saving me about $2000 but you know the saddest part is that the doctors always believe the receptionist, and they keep their jobs which doesn’t bother me because it’s not my business and I’m not the one losing money but that’s why they need to reevaluate their staff because if you’re losing $2000 a pop that’s kind of scary especially during these hard times if I had a business, I would have fired them ages ago. I will not put up with a person that is unprofessional, not to mention the way they made me feel I was already having a very hard time and a very bad day. I didn’t need for them to make it worse for me, so good luck ladies. I hope you change your tune . you have lost a loyal customer as I have multiple dogs and they mean the world to me and if I have to spend thousands I will and I always have because I love them and they’re my family but I will not leave it here at the VCA , of Saginaw, not while those people are still there. Sorry that also reflects on leadership VCA doctors, you need to reevaluate staff or at least have a conversation with them about professionalism because they’re in desperate need of one. I will move on to greener pastures with my beautiful dogs. I will no longer take them to the VCA. One bad experience could be life altering, and this was mine.

We chose VCA Saginaw when we moved to the neighborhood this past year. We have had good experience with VCA pet hospitals in the past. So far we are very happy with the vets and staff. They treat our 8 yo rescue dog and 11year old cat like they are their own. We are very aware of what it costs to take care of aging pets and appreciate good service we have been given.

ZERO STARS - I used VCA in Bedford for many years. I loved the staff and the way they cared for my animals. Having relocated to the area I used VCA in Saginaw. I had my dog neutered and a small lymphoma the size of a marble removed from a front paw. $1200. They told me if the stitches in the paw came out to come back any time and they would fix it. My dog managed to chew or tear his stitches out the first night. I went in at 12:30, I was told the vet was at lunch and come back at 2:20. I come back at 2:20, without having seen my dog, a lady comes over and tells me that it will be $260 more dollars to clean and prepare my dog’s paw. First off, when I was there at 12:30, you don’t have a vet tech capable of putting two or three staples in my dog’s paw? Secondly, you want me to pay another $260 because you didn’t use staples in the first place. There is nothing worse than health related business that is driven by production. You didn’t do it right the first time, so I am expected to pay, and drive back and forth two more times during the day? If you cared about the animal, you would have used staples in a paw, they are less likely to chew on metal, if you cared about your customer you would have corrected YOUR mistake without the $260 charge. Bedford VCA, absolutely, Saginaw VCA absolutely NEVER.

I took my cat here because she was sticking her tongue out and drooling. The vet said she had stomatitis, and he said the only treatment was to take all of her teeth out. He pried open her mouth and wiggled around a loose tooth as proof that the decay was irreversible. The estimated cost was $3,000. I took her to another clinic in Alvarado to get a second opinion. The vet looked carefully in her mouth and said she did indeed have stomatitis. She pointed to a loose tooth and said, "You can see here that this one is loose. I could wiggle it around, but I won't, because that would be very painful for her, and I don't want to hurt her." (The Saginaw VCA vet didn't seem to mind hurting her by wiggling around her tooth.) This second vet's recommendation was to do a dental cleaning and to only extract the affected teeth, as she said that extracting healthy teeth can cause more problems- even a cracked jaw. She got her in that same day, and said only a few teeth needed to be pulled. The total was $300.I now know, after getting such great care at the second clinic, how little the vet here in Saginaw knew about caring for cats. He could barely open her mouth, while the vet in Alvarado opened her mouth with ease. When we had asked him what we would feed her if all her teeth were pulled out, he had said that dogs have a special food that's easy to chew, so he guessed cats should have something similar. I don't want a vet who guesses at treatment plans and follow up care. I don't want a vet who over-treats to the point of potentially harming my cat. Not to mention the exorbitant cost. Needless to say, we won't be coming back.

I think it just depends on the day. One visit you go and have a great experience The next visit there is a lack of professionalism and customer service. I will say the bad out weighs the good.

I don’t understand these bad reviews. We’ve been here several times for my cat and dog. My cat was severely hurt in a fight, and my dog has eye issues and needed some masses removed. We love Dr. Lanier, and all of the staff. We’re more of a natural remedy, wait and watch family, and feed our dog homemade dog food. Dr. Lanier is kind, compassionate, understanding and respectful. We’ve had nothing but good experiences here. I recommend VCA to everyone.

Staff are decent, but the clinic's billing practices are unfriendly and expensive. I was charged $62.50 for them rinsing my dog's paw in a bowl of plain warm water, in order for the doctor to actually carry out the examination I had already paid an $86.50 office visit fee for. No warning, no notice that a bowl of warm water would be so expensive. On top of that, pressured us into taking an anti-inflammatory for my dog as a just in case that was completely excessive. A trivial pad split turned into a $300 visit.Friendly staff but money had better be no object for you if you come here.

They told me they were running a promotion… $25 for the visit but I ended up paying $400 for a dog’s ear infection. Medicine at other veterinary places does not cost this much. They are lying thieves. Don’t go here!

This Vet is the best we have ever had. They are always ready to help us as quickly as possible. I have always been able to have my babies seen within a couple days of when I call. They always greet us with smiles, concern and care! Even when I am being an over-bearing pet parent. I really appreciate their patience and the way they go above and beyond for my babies, bc they mean the world to me. Thank you!!

I am also a long time client of this vet clinic but no more. I am an over the road truck driver and never know when I will be in. This clinic has worked with me on scheduling since 2004. This has stopped and the lady at the front desk is rude and will not do anything to try to work you in. What's sad is that I really liked the vet. Guess its time to remind them they're not the only vet clinic in town.

I was an existing customer and recently got a new puppy and took him in to VCA in Saginaw for his second set of shots. I haven’t had a puppy in a really long time so I didn’t know what was required and absolutely necessary so I told them I didn’t want a bunch of extra stuff just the normal pup vaccines but then I left with a $200 bill. I figured that was normal until my sister who has my puppies brother told me that her bill was only $60 from her veterinarian. Her vet did not charge her another new Patient fee because she has another dog that already goes there, I guess that’s a thank you for being a customer discount lol which mine did not give me, VCA charged me $86.50 and I too already use them for my other dog. So I called my sisters veterinarian and told them the shots that my vet gave to my new puppy and two of the vaccinations were not necessary they were just suggested and I excepted trusting that they were only having me do what was necessary. I just feel taken advantage of I guess and I am currently looking for a new veterinarian.

Avoid this vet. VCA is a terrible system in general. Every single time I go just to get heartworm/flea medication for my dog they claim he doesn't have a recent heartworm test and try to make me buy one, EVERY SINGLE TIME, and every single time I have to show them records from THEIR system showing he has had a heartworm test within the last year, yet they never update their stupid system every time I do their work for them. I've had enough. I've asked for my dog's records and will be finding a new vet, even if I do have to travel a little further. I'll never give VCA my money ever again.
