I have a child in the Summer Camp and she likes her class so much that we can't get her to leave in the evenings. She gets mad when we interrupt an activity she is engaged in. I take that as a good sign!

My grandchild currently goes to Smallville Learning Center and I just want to say that our family has noticed some positive changes and upgrades here recently. We look forward to see what all is to come!

Such a cute little school. When I took a tour today I felt extremely welcomed by the Director & her assistant. They were able to answer all of my questions and some!

My 6 month old currently attends Smallville and we LOVE it. Her teachers are amazing and make it so much easier to leave her all day. I would not be able to work if I had any question about her safety while away. Thank you Infant teachers for being the best!

0 stars. Negligence and excuses. Please do not take your children here.My 2 boys cried every morning when I dropped them off before going to work. This has never been a problem anywhere else (we’ve always gone to Christian based schools and developmental centers). This place was different. I’ve caught teachers in the 3 year old class yelling at children, not knowing I was turning the corner. My kids wouldn’t look at or address the teachers when I picked them up.Yes they provide before and after school care for the Pre-schools in the area, but it is not worth it. The risk is too high. The issue that made us withdraw our kids was when they dropped of my 4 year old in the bus lane at school and drove off, leaving him unsupervised and unattended. The teachers at the school had not come back out after walking a previous bus group in. This was caught on camera. I demanded an apology and action be taken against the bus driver but Lisa defended the driver. Lisa was/is an awful communicator. Any excuse you could imagine, she used. We are pursuing legal action. My kid was left in bus lane alone and no one apologized. How mad would you be? Don’t do that to yourself and more importantly to your children. I’m ashamed. Inexcusable. Please close your doors. You do not serve the community.

Im probably going to report this building for neglect multiple days my son has returned home with new scratches on his face. The daycare has yet to remove the problem child or given any incident reports.

I was recently working at this daycare and prior to me getting hired I informed the director Ms. Lisa that I am a full time college student and I would also be working another job in addition to working at this daycare on my application I made sure that she knew and it was also on my application that it says I wanted to be part time she didn’t seem to have a problem with that I also informed her that I would like to have a least one day off because I am a full time college student working two jobs she also did not seem to have a problem with that a week goes by and I start my first day I work 7 hours no lunch break just a bathroom break I thought that maybe I didn’t have anyone to relieve me due to being short staff so I just brushed it off by the end of my work shift I went to the office to confirm my one day off during the week and Ms. Lisa Maranda proceeded to tell me that I couldn’t have it off because she was under the impression that I could work all week I was kind of upset by this because in the interview if she would have told me this up front I would not have taken the job she also proceeded to say “Well if I would have on that I would have never even hired you “ so the next day was my second day on the job I had seen more staff this day so I was under the impression that ok more staff maybe I will be able to at least go on a 30 minute lunch break but no that day I got no break at all once again a 7 hour shift so I asked one of my fellow coworkers and they said the management say that since I am technically part time because I work 7 hours 5 days out of the week I don’t get a break that just didn’t make since to me then I realized that instead of me getting a day off as I requested due to being a part time employee they just took one hour off my shift I was upset and felt like they were trying to get one over on me after my shift I left contemplating on quitting because I soon realized that even if I put my two week notice in I couldn’t go 2 weeks working a 7:00am to 2:00pm shift without not one break and then having to go straight to my other job right after I am not the only person that worked there that’s feels like the management is not having consideration for the employees because with me only being there for a short amount of time I was informed that many people have quit prior to me due to management

I love this daycare and so does my son! He is now 19 months and has been going here for a year now! The staff are always friendly and I’ve never had an issue with them being rude! It’s clean and they have lots of toys for the kids to play with! My son waves at everyone and blows them kisses which shows me he loves them and loves being at daycare! They do quarterly school pictures and have parties for special holidays!

My daughter attended Smallvile Learning Center just shy of 1.5 years. At first, loved the daycare, prices, and teachers. Here over the last few months (since my daughter moved up classes), I have had multiple issues with lack of communication in which I tried speaking with the teachers directly and have expressed to the director multiple times. About 3 weeks ago, my husband went to get our daughter and she was up front in the "office" with Lisa Miranda the director, he said she was not nice nor happy and told him our daughter had been acting up. Concerned and wanting to discuss the situation, I immediately gave her a call, she wasnt very polite with me either and told me it was an "ongoing issue" with her. One that we have never been made aware of and I told her as much. I reminded her we have had consistent issues with communication since switching classes and I understood why she might be frustrated, but it wasnt fair because we hadnt been informed of any of this, she brushed off what I sais about communication and basically stated, if we did not get it under control, she would be kicked out. since that day, EVERY morning I have asked the teachers when dropping her off how she was the previous day and was always told good. Today, I had a message when i logged in regarding meeting with her about my daughters behavior. I called at 8 am and advised I would be calling on my lunch break to discuss, even made a list of my ideas for improvement (not know exactly what she had done). I did, first two calls, they didnt answer, third call, they did and the receptionist wasnt very polite and advised she was busy, I was trying to figure out how to coordinate a time to speak with the director, she kept putting me on hold to speak with the director because she wouldnt talk to me directly. FINALLY, she got on the phone, was completely rude from the beginning. Basically called me a bad mother based on her comments about being tired of me not willing to help take care of my daughters behavioral issues, obviously my response was how am I suppsed to help when I am not being told what is going on and when. I am then mid sentence and she told me to be quiet. I am not a child in the daycare and have real concerns with what you are insinuating, you will not tell me to be quiet. she tells me I will not downgrade her or her staff and I advised, I had never until that moment disrespected anyone on her facility. She then told me my daughter was being kicked out of her daycare. I asked for the owners information and was told no. She said she was hanging up now so I said I am leaving work and will see you soon. She then tried to say no, my response was she would not tell me I could not come pick up my daughter. Lack of communication with me was pretty terrible, even worse that I asked and asked for months what we could do to make it better since my daughter switched classes so much every day and saw so many different teachers and I was trying very hard for this, she spoke with my 3 year old daughter without my permission about the fact that she didnt need to have donuts for breakfast. It was absolutely inappropriate of her, if she had an issue with what I fed my daughter, she should have brought it to me, but again that would require communication. Needless to say my feeling are this: My daughter has been being mistreated, my concerns were never addressed and I do not feel like it was too much to ask, and lastly, I was not given the opportunity to try to make things better and was mistreated by this absolutely UNPROFESSIONAL individual. I sure hope that people read this and think twice before selecting this daycare soley based on a director that does not belong there.

This place should be closed down, their mission statement is a joke. The director doesn't communicate with the parents issues that are going on with their children. Calls parents when she is frustrated and tells the parents their child is "kicked out", really that is professional language to speak to a parent. This lady wouldn't keep any children if I have any say, she is in the wrong business, and she also refused to give the owners information when asked. BIG RED FLAG.... Investigation should be done, interviews with staff a must, something is seriously wrong with this daycare.

We moved from Mesquite to Royse City last year and were determined to find a daycare that was reasonably priced without sacrificing the care they take in providing a safe, welcoming, and nurturing environment for my kids. To say that I’ve had a good experience here is an understatement. Smallville has worked with me on every level when it comes to their flexibility with my PK aged daughter and her on/off covid school schedule. They have very graciously listened to our needs as parents and have done everything they can to make sure they are met. As wonderful as they have been regarding the logistics of scheduling, payment, and keeping us informed as parents; we all know that what really matters is how we feel leaving our children in their care. Very recently, an amazing and observant staff member noticed that my son(19 months) was alarming hot in the abdomen area, she wasted no time in alerting the other staff members; a decision I will be forever thankful for. Smallville was able to recognize the medical necessity for immediate action, they immediately called us, explained what was happening in detail, provided us with second by second updates, and ultimately erred on the side of safety and called paramedics, an action I will always 100% prefer versus waiting until it’s too late. Luckily, all things worked out and my son is fine, thanks in very large part to the wonderful teacher who recognized something wasn’t right, and the management staff who took every step they could to care for my baby and keep him safe while also making sure to keep us informed the entire time. I cannot say enough good things about this place. Hopefully no one will ever be in the position I was a week ago, but rest assured that if you are, you and your children are in the best hands with everyone who works at Smallville Learning Center.
