I got my cat from this shelter. Since, we have found out that she has had 2 different types of worms and have outstanding medical bills. One of my friends also got a kitten from here, she also had worms. Steer clear of this place.

They make the adoption process EASY. But as far as I can tell they really don't test for stuff because we've had multiple problems including worms and ring worms.

Wonderful shelter. The Animal Control Officers are very nice and welcoming. The office is kept clean and organize. The best part: This is a no-kill shelter.

We found a stray kitten with no mother.Royse city animal shelter turned it away. That’s what you get for trying to be a good person I guess. They told us to leave it outside where we found it. What exactly is your job if it’s not to take care and take in animals?

My children rescued a kitten out of a storm drain, spent hours outside pulling every single flee off of it, bathing it and nursing it over night, then I brought it to the shelter, which I know for a fact is the one I'm meant to use for where I live/ found the animal. From the moment I walked in the door, the women was trying to find a reason to not take the kitten. First it was "oh it might be too young", then it was "we don't have a foster ", then "I looked it up on Google and it isn't our service area", then she threatened to fine me or call the police on me for animal abandonment if I didn't take it with me. Freaking pathetic. Obviously just doesn't want to do the job we all pay taxes for her to do, even though my family did half of it for her. I asked if I should have just left it in the drain and she said "Well you took control of the animal so it's your responsibility now". Wow. Just wow. I'm filling a complaint with the city.

We recently adopted a dog from Royse City Animal Shelter. I can’t say enough nice things about them! They made the adoption process very easy. They send us home with lots of goodies for our new pup. The adoption fees are very fair.

We went around 3 PM. The staff was not their, but an Animal Control Officer was just about to leave and seen us pull up. He advised that staff had to leave for business reasons. Asked if he could help. Wish I remembered his name, because he was great. We were coming to look at some of the dogs as we heard the shelter was full. The officer said he could show us whatever dog we wanted to see.He brought two over (one at a time) and let us spend some time with each. He was very informative. We advised we would discuss it over the weekend and return Monday. Unfortunately, we had a family emergency and have not made it back yet.Just wanted to give recognition to the officer for going out of his was to accommodate us.

They're all so sweet and helpful here. I loved that they didn't rush me when I called a few times (with multiple questions) and stayed a while seeing a prospective animal I wanted (and did) adopt.

I found a stray dog near my place of business and was told that because I am not in city limits I could take the dog to the commerce shelter. I advised the lady that I spoke with that I have been told by the Royse City fire chief that my business location is within the city limits and she said “well I just looked it up on Google maps and you’re right outside city limits,” honestly it just seems like she didn’t want to do her job.
