I appreciated the thoughtfulness and compassion of everyone who assisted Athena. The doctor was great with explaining everything in detail what our issues were and addressed our concerns. Thank you all so much.

My fiance and I just moved to Josephine from Rockwall and was looking for a vet closer to home, I found Country Friends on google and saw all the great reviews and ratings so I went ahead to schedule a puppy checkup & booster shot appointment with them. Scheduling was simple and easy, all the paperwork hassle was easy as I could do it on my phone before the appointment. I put all my concerns about my puppy on there, and they were all addressed during the appointment and left me feeling satisfied with the advice given. We brought our puppy in a crate as he hasn’t had all his parvo shots yet and I didn’t want him roaming around, and he did very well waiting until we got to our room. In the room, we let him out of his crate and he was a curious little baby sniffing around. He had never been to the vet before, so he was a little shaky and scared, but we were using constant praise and lovins to try and make this a good first experience for him so he’s not fearful for the next appointment. The vet tech came in, and barely acknowledged our puppy. Said a few words to him, but never went to love on him or pet him. Our puppy was very eager to make a new friend, was being very friendly and sweet but was not given any attention until it was time for him to go to the back to check temperature, weight, and do a fecal sample. I knew he would be uncomfortable with the fecal sample, and I had never heard him cry the way he did so it caught me off guard. He came back into the room and we gave him treats for being so brave and made sure to love on him. The vet tech talked to me about my concerns for his weight, and because we got him from Canton and he’s a “canton puppy” (it was not planned, we didn’t get him from a breeder) they were using words that made us feel ashamed for getting him from the Canton market. We already know the stigma of Canton puppies and what they can be prone to, which is why I wanted to get him checked and make sure he’s healthy. The vet came in to do the exam and administer shots/medicine, so the vet tech put puppy on the exam table. She immediately grabbed him and pinned him to her chest while vet was doing the ear check and tummy check - neither of them showed any kind of affection to him, no pets or praise or baby talk to calm him down, just said “you’re fine you’re fine it’s okay” in a monotone voice while our puppy was clearly very uncomfortable. He ended up snapping at them, which he rarely does at home - he’s only done it to us twice when we picked him up in a way that hurt him. The tech immediately scolded him and held him tighter which he didn’t like at all, and the vet said “this is aggression, you need to fix this immediately before it gets worse”. I did not have a good feeling at this point and alarm bells were going off in my head. We have 2 adult dogs, a 9yo and 4yo both males who have always done so well at the vets and are very well mannered - we usually take them to a vet closer to Rockwall where they absolutely adore them and receive so many lovins and praises. This was not done at Country Friends. Our puppy was basically ignored until it was time to do actual tests/shots and was handled so poorly by the tech and his reaction was absolutely FEAR based, not aggression. They did nothing to calm his nerves, make him feel comfortable, nothing. So go figure he snapped, he was terrified and not being comforted at all. The tech said to me, closer to us leaving, “I saw the way you were looking at me hold him, I know you didn’t like that” and I was so caught off guard I didn’t know what to say. Just the snarkiness of the comment and the way she looked at me when she said it was uncalled for and unprofessional. So what was already a scary experience for him being his first time at a vet, now he has an even worse experience. We will not be bringing our puppy or any of our dogs back here. I contacted our regular vet and explained our situation and what happened to our puppy, and the lady on the phone literally goes “….oh my god??? That is not okay”.

What a great first experience we had with them. We took our cat because he had kidney stones and they took the time to check him up and explain us all the things. I feel we learned a lot on this first visit. They are so nice with us and our cat.
We will definitely be back for everything vet.
I highly recommend this clinic. They will love and care for your pet!

Overpriced services and poor communication. Will charge you and not tell you and mail you a bill.. then when you call to pay you are stuck paying late fees for a bill you had no idea you owed! Will be taking my pets elsewhere.

Super friendly when I called and made my first appointment and was easy to schedule. The techs were extremely nice and informative. The doctor took her time to make sure she knew the history of our dog and went through all the best treatment options and made sure we were comfortable.
