DONT TAKE YOUR DOGS HERE!!! I wish I could give this place zero stars, but yelp doesnt let you post a review without putting at least one star. I have been going to Mels for 10+ years now and the quality and customer service has severely declined. Today when my grandma picked up Bruno he was scared and shaking, which is not like him at all. His hair cut was awful and not finished at all. The side of his neck was shaved off and red irritation has shown up. He keeps wining and trying to scratch the side of his neck. His nails where not trimmed. His tail was not trimmed. Another thing that was weird is that they made my grandma pay first before bringing out Bruno, which has never happened. Usually when I pick him up she brings him out first and then makes me pay. My grandma was trying to get it fixed in person but she said that the only thing that she could do is come back tomorrow and get him fixed, but the only thing that she can do to "fix him" is to shave him and risk him getting cut which I do not agree with. Then I tried to call her and and ask what we could do about this and she didn't even try to help me she just ended up yelling at me and hung up the phone. The way they treat animals if God awful, if you really care about your pets PLEASE don'tt take them here. I dont know how this place is still running even after all of the pet incidents that have been reported. Please take care of your pets and DONT take them here. *Side Note*- If anyone has any recommendations on how to treat irritation on dogs, I would really appreciate the help!

I've been using Mel's for 17 years. I trust then with our 2 Boxers and 1 cat for boarding and grooming. Never dealt with kennel cough or the usual issues when picking up your pets. Small family owned business that treat your pets as their own.

Beware of this place. I boarded my 2 dogs there for 12 days. I was out of the country. When I picked them up after my trip, my dogs did not recognize, nor were they excited or happy to see me. There were several signs of neglect and abuse on the part of the caretaker. She did not call the emergency contact and ignored my dogs' suffering. Zoey died hours later after I brought her home from Mel's . She could not stand or walk, she couldn't eat or drink water. She had caked vomit under her chin, both Owen and Zoey smelled bad. Owen was diagnosed with extreme dehydration and a UTI. This was reported to the RR Police Dept. The police issued Mel's a citation based on the neglect to render aid to a suffering animal who was under their care.Negative reviews seem to be buried.

This place is HORRIFIC. They are abusing and neglecting animals and were just cited for such neglect and failure to render aid to dogs boarded there, resulting in one of them dying. They were severely dehydrated and left to sit in their own waste for 12 days. I personally took my cat there to be groomed a few years ago and he was returned to me with a huge cut on his arm, down to the bone with a huge flap of skin hanging off it. It smells horrible in there too. Do your research, so many horror stories, this place needs to be shut down!

Family run business. Prices are good and grooming is excellent. Have been going there for over 5 years.

Avoid this business at ALL cost. They abuse animals and dogs have DIED after being in their care for boarding. If you care about your animals you will not bring them here.

We’ve been taking our dogs to Mel’s for both grooming and boarding for 10+ years and have always had a great experience. We’ve taken our dogs there in every stage of their lives (from puppies to seniors) and have always known they’ve been in great hands. We can see how much the ladies love animals and have always shown a tremendous amount of care towards our dogs. Mel, Jessie and Jennifer are always very responsive, responsible and I know I can always count on them to provide a safe and loving environment for our dogs.Honestly, there’s nobody else that we’d want to watch our pups!

I boarded my 2 chihuahuas at ***************** in **********; ********************************* for 12 days. I was out of the country. When I returned, I picked my dogs up from ****** I was taken aback by their condition. They showed no signs of recognizing me. They were neither excited or happy to see me like they always are.I brought them home and discovered the abuse and pain they had suffered while being boarded there. My dog **** died several hours later in my arms. She could not walk or support herself. The caretaker told me she had not eaten in 2 days. They smelled bad. I let them soak in a tub of warm water. **** had caked discharge under her chin. Their bedding was urinated and stained with discharge. I made a vet appointment for the next day. I never expected my **** to die. When the vet examined ****, she said he was extremely dehydrated and had a UTI, which is not common in male dogs. They both had lost weight. **** was wobbly, but he did drink water and ate. **** could not. After her DOA examination , it was determined **** had ulcerations in her mouth. This would have made it painful for her to eat.I initiated a police investigation. The caretaker was given a citation: failure to carry out basic care of animals.I left an emergency contact phone number for the caretaker to call . That was my daughter. She would have picked my dogs up and taken them to a vet. The caretaker failed to take such action, allowing my dogs to suffer in pain. A phone call would have saved my ****.

I also had my dog groomed at Mel's a few years ago once and only once. The vet bill was $150 after I picked her up from Mel's. They traumatized my pet. I don't see how they can still be in business?

I boarded my two chihuahuas at Mel's Pet Parlour for 12 days. I was out of the country. I dropped off 2 happy and healthy dogs. One is 17 years old and the other is 18. I have taken excellent care of my dogs. Halfway into my trip, I texted Mel's to inquire for my dogs' well-being. I got no response. I was shocked when I picked up my dogs. They didn't seem to recognize me. They were not joyful or excited to see me. I was told by the caretaker that Zoey had not eaten in 2 days and was having trouble walking. My dogs smelled awful so I soaked them in warm water. Zoey had caked vomit or discharge under her chin. She could not support herself to stand up. She could not walk! I had to hold her up by her belly to offer her food and water. She couldn't eat or drink water. Her gums were irritated so it was painful for her to eat. I had both dogs examined by vets. Their bed returned with dried discharge stains. The pee pad had not been changed in 12 days. It had urine stains. All the pads I left for them were returned. Not one was used.Nor were they given the snacks I left for them. Their blankets smelled of urine. Zoey looked disoriented. She finally took a nap, never to wake up again. She died in my arms the same day I brought her home.Owen was extremely dehydrated and had a UTI, which is uncommon for male dogs. The Round Rock Police Dept. carried out an investigation of Mel's and issued a citation. The caretaker made no effort to intervene in the suffering of my dogs. She was left with an emergency contact that she was to call . She never bothered to call . My daughter would have picked up Zoey and taken her to the vet. The caretaker reported that Owen was having seizures everyday; again she made no contact to a vet or my daughter. The caretaker was neglectful and cruel to my Zoey and Owen. She failed to render aid to these innocent and dependent creatures. When asked why she hadn't called emergency contacts, she said,"Well, they were going to go home soon." My Zoey was slowly dying in this place!! The people entrusted with their care were irresponsible and uncaring. I am so heartbroken and long for my Zoey everyday. Owen is recovering and doing well.

We have been going to Mel's for years. They always do a great job and the dogs come back so cute!.) Drop off & pick up are always so easy. Now that my dogs are seniors they are taking extra good care of them to make sure they are comfortable.

We kennel our dog there and the people are all great. Our dog has been weary at other kennels before, but not at Mel’s.
