The owner, Beverly, has been a tremendous help with me figuring everything out for my pup as a first time dog dad. Thank you Barks A Lot!

I never write reviews, but this is well deserved. I called Barks A Lot a few weeks ago to inquire about boarding my cats for a few days. I had some questions about the vaccination requirements, boarding options, care provided, etc. I had the unfortunate happenstance of having this conversation with Beverly Philips, the owner. I worked in customer service many moons ago, so I've got a thick skin when it comes to difficult people. But this woman takes the cake. She almost immediately became increasingly irate at the simple questions I was asking (with a friendly demeanor on my part) and started screaming at me. This woman is clearly unhinged. She yelled profanities, then started asking my name and at that point, after I tried to deescalate the conversation, I just hung up. I would never trust my pets with such an unhinged personality. You'd think a pet resort would be owned by someone who loves animals and by extension is a good person, but you'd think wrong in this case. My recommendation - steer clear. This conversation so stuck with me that I felt compelled to write this review, even weeks later.

I took a 10 year old female German Shephard with hip dysplasia. Let instructions to limit play with 4-5 ball throws. When I picked her up she could barely walk. The food I brought was stored on a wet surface so the bag dumped on the ground when I picked it up.

Great staff, friendly, great price for the value, the location is not the best (next to some trucking company) but they seem to manage it well

I called multiple times in 1 day within business hours (calls were spaced out, not all at once) and left multiple voice-mails. Never got an answer or a call back. I was referred to this place, but they clearly didn't seem to care. I couldn't use their website to schedule anything, contact an employee, or to get an idea of pricing. I ended up using Rover. It was so much easier and cheaper.

I called to inquire about boarding. The person who answered immediately asked whether my dog was a pitbull mix for some reason (answer: no) and then told me she would call my vet to get vaccine info and would call me back - she then disconnected the call. If she hadn't, I could've told her I already had my dogs vaccine records.I waited several days for that callback - I never heard from them again and neither did my vet. Don't let them waste your time like they did mine.EDIT for the owner's response: Never at any point was I told that there was no availability nor did I get told that I had been waitlisted. As I originally stated, I was told that my vet would be contacted and I would recieved a follow up phone call. If your reservation coordinator told you otherwise, Amanda, I regret to inform you that they are a liar.I did not call again because the amount of time for me to leave for my trip had elapsed. The person who answered told me i needed to do an evaluation prior to the actual stay and I didn't have time to both so I found other arrangements. Thanks for your response.

We use to board our dogs here and they enjoyed there stays. They both passed away a few years ago. We finally took in a rescue and went back to Beverly when we needed to board again. Our rescue went through her initial visit today and appears as though she enjoyed her stay.

I met with the owner of this kennel today and she was very helpful in answering my questions. The employees offer curbside dog pick up and are quick to bring each dog out to their owner’s vehicle. This staff is experienced and I would trust them with my pets.

Avoid this place at all cost. If you want animals lovers taking care of your babies while you're away, this is not the right business. I used to like this place. We've boarded our dog there a few times. The last time we boarded our dog there they lost both her harness and her food. I only got it back after calling and following up and insisting that I left plenty of food (I always leave a full bag). They suddenly found both her harness and food. I brushed it off as an honest mistake, but after this visit I'm really unsure. I picked my dog up today and the employees came out and charged me, brought out her dry food, and then brought out my dog. As I was taking her to the other side of the truck the owners' dogs got out of their fence (the owners' house is next door to the pet resort) and ran after us. 3 of them were small dogs but one was a doberman (or something similiar looking) and was growling and snapping at us. I hurried and got my dog in the truck and stood there with her while the employees got the dogs back in the fence. I was obviously upset and wanted to speak with someone about what just happened. As I was waiting for one of the employees to call the owners I noticed a patch of missing fur from my dogs leg. No idea if it happened just then or if it was from earlier in the week but it definitely wasn't like that when I dropped her off. The employee had to call the owners twice. The first time he was asking them to come outside and it sounded like they hung up on him. I insisted I wanted to speak with someone and he called again and said they were coming. I had to ask him to grab my dog's canned food that they had forgotten while we were waiting for the owner. At this point I would have been completely happy with someone seeming like they cared even a little. You would think the OWNER of a pet boarding place would care about animals. She made absolutely no attempt at coming to see me or my dog and check on things. She was obviously very upset that she had to get up and come address a situation. When I told this woman about her dogs running after us she kept claiming they were in the fence. I tried explaining they were only in there because her employees put them back. I mentioned there was a patch of missing fur on my dog's leg and clarified that I don't know if it was from this incident or from earlier in the week and her only response was to ask "is she bleeding?" and follow up with "well there's nothing I can do then". You're the OWNER. There is plenty you can do. A simple apology would be a great start. Mostly I just kept getting her saying "I hope you have the day you deserve" since apparently my day should suck for interrupting her relaxing to speak with a customer. Now that we're home and looking more closely at our dog we see a missing patch of fur on her leg, her ID tag that we made for her is gone off of her collar, she has what looks like some kind of sore in her mouth, and she's scratching at her eyes a lot. We're going to get her checked out by a vet because we are not experts in dog healthcare, but we're concerned about several things we're seeing on her that definitely were not there when we dropped her off. All we can do at this moment is document everything and get a professional opinion. A few things are concerning to us here but honestly most of it would have been assumed to be stress on our dog being away from home if it hadn't been for the way the owner behaved. I am so baffled by the fact that the owner of a pet boarding company seems to not care at all about the pets or the customers for that matter. I'm trying to wrap my head around how someone can get paid to board others' pets and then have so little concern when their own get out and run after a customer and their pet. Who do you want watching your fur babies? Someone that cares deeply for animals or someone that cares deeply for a paycheck? Edit: I disagree with quite a few of the 'facts' that Beverly
