The vibes are great, the food is okay, the coffee is good. My main complaint is the book curation. Half the time they hardly have any books, and the selection is never very good. I keep going back hoping it has changed, but over several several months it hasn’t. This place has so much potential. PLEASE get a better book curator. ?

Great local place in the heart of Downtown Rockwall. Met a friend for lunch and loved the variety of menu items. Food was delicious. Prices are pretty comparable to other restaurants in the area.

My guest and I decide to give this place a go since we had heard excellent things about it. The moment we arrived no one greeted us and we had to ask for service. We were informed by the barista at the coffee bar (after asking) that we would need to go over to the hostess area (which was confusing to figure out where it was in itself). No hostess was present for about 10-15 minutes and the guests in front of us were informed that they themselves would be waiting about an 1 and 15 minutes for a table (after waiting almost 10 minutes themselves). I can understand wait times for a popular restaurant but what I draw the line at is the lack of customer service. My guest and I left the establishment. Hopefully next time we’ll receive better service about the wait times and how the restaurant operates; and of course better attentive service from the staff. Very disappointing first visit.

Good bourbon selection and great bartender and servers. Had a quick cocktail before dinner but we will be sure to try this place for dinner in the near future!

Food was awesome! The Riccotta was delicious! Smoked Salmon Begal was to die for, and my wife loved the crab cake eggs Benedict. As fantastic as the food was, the coffee was even better. ?

Tried this place for the first time today with my family and it was amazing!! The portions are big and we loved the taste of everything. The muscles and Brussel sprouts specifically were a 10/10!!! When we came it was $4 wine for happy hour, such a steal!! The staff is so kind and made us feel so welcomed. We ended the meal with a german chocolate cake that was so rich and tasty. Definitely recommend this place, great food and environment.

Today was my first time there and it was the cutest place. Our waiter(I didn’t get his name) was the sweetest guy and he was very attentive to checking on us and making sure we were well taken care of. I got one of their seasonal lates and it was very good and he recommended it to me:) great experience all the way around but definitely was impressed with him!

2024 update: I am going to try the coffee cafe section and maybe I can edit my review for the better. Willing to give it another try since a lot of people like this place. I see how it would be a good work cafe or coffee hang out place. :)Initial 2023 review: Inormally don’t leave bad reviews but this place was very disappointing. We had a couples date so 4 adults and 1 baby.Hot inside: We dined in where they had two fans blowing but they didn’t reach us. I’m not sure if the AC broke or the unit just couldn’t keep up but it was dang hot inside. All of us were hot as soon as we sat down and sweated the rest of the night so we were all wet when we paid the checks.Poor tasting food: The food was atrocious and the manager was appalling. We were excited about trying a new place and having a sit down evening with each other. We ordered a variety of things (matcha tea, 2 lobster bisques, 1 charcuterie board, brussels sprouts, filet steak, and 2 roasted chickens) and none of it was enjoyable nor worth the money. Tea was too dirty tasting, lobster bisque soup tasted heavily of tomato soup like they were trying to cut costs hoping no one would notice the flavor, charcuterie board had about 3 bites of cheese 3 bites of fruit etc but was definitely not worth a whopping $22 for the size, Brussels sprouts had a very light glaze so they were not very flavorful (I ended up adding pepper and salt and seasoning when I got home), $58 filet was over cooked and burnt black not medium rare, and to top it off the chicken was pink!Reheating pink chicken: So the manager comes over and literally says “I’m sorry here let me take it back to the kitchen and reheat it to cook the chicken through for you” um no not pink chicken. The bacteria is already there and you can’t play with raw meat especially salmonella. I’m surprised it was not a health code violation or something with it being chicken. We were all shocked and looked at each other in disbelief that he was going to take the touched food back to the kitchen and recook the pink chicken instead of bring out a new plate. The second chicken dish tried next was pink as well and the second round the manager did not even bother to come back but took it off the tab since the waitress told him we wanted to speak with him again. The service was slow and the manager did not really take care of the situation well.Dissatisfied: Nothing we ordered was worth eating and it was not worth the big bucks. We left hot and displeased.Overly hot baby: Another element was that our baby was crying the whole time because he was too hot in the building. My husband and I literally had to strip him down to his diaper and take turns sitting in front of the fan to keep him cool. It was across the room from our booth and we could not enjoy our night out with our friends. People were staring at us like they do and the man at the next booth beside us asked what we fed our baby to which I replied breast milk. I tried giving him the benefit of the doubt and not to be rude. It wasn’t our baby’s stomach, he does not have digestive issues, he was just overly hot and uncomfortable. Because as soon as we held him in front of the fan then he stopped screaming.Spend elsewhere: The desserts up front looked good but with the poor experience we had we did not want to risk another tasteless food. I hope they change some things or get a better cook. Anyways thanks for reading. Hope you don’t have such a crappy experience as we did. Save your money for a fancy dinner somewhere you know you will enjoy!Looks nice: I will say that the visual aspect of the place was nice, Pinterest worthy almost, and the barn doors for the bathrooms were a nice touch even if they were heavy. Take your aesthetic pictures maybe with a small item like tea or dessert but their menu ain’t worth it.Also want to note that the staff other than management seemed decently nice. Mainly the waitresses asked if I was okay or needed anything while I sat with my baby at the fan to cool down. They said they understood since they had kids too.

They have a wide selection of coffees and teas, along with to go pastries for a quick morning stop. Browsing the book selection is nostalgic. Love the exposed beams and time they took to show off the old building. I’ve always had attentive and polite staff. Any item on the menu I have tried is quality, fresh and made to order. It’s good for a quick stop, but better to stay and visit soaking up the atmosphere.
