I'm a grandparent with grandchildren who attended the school. I have no idea who is on the school board and personally don't know any of the teachers. Before you make an EMOTIONAL judgement on what happened to the school you need to know all of the facts. Two facts both sides will agree to. Fact one, the issues between the school and it's teachers started last year. Seems to me both parties had time to work out the issues. Fact two, the teachers were not fired they all RESIGNED at the same time! I'm not going to state my opinion on why they all quit, because it doesn't matter now. The fact cannot not be rebutted. The teachers quit. This caught the pastor and school board by surprise since it was sudden. The school board had the budget to continue the school for several years. Future plans, according to the school board was to add more grades. When the teachers quit, the school board had no choice but to close the school since there wasn't enough time to find new faculty and teachers. Apparently, they did their best to get the word out as soon as possible in order to let parents know. It's sad to see both sides upset and crying about the situation. The children AND parents suffered the most, but the teachers apparently didn't think about that when they turned in their resignation letters.

The pastor just disbanded the school. The school was a great place and did awesome for my first child. Every teacher left and left due to the pastor. I can only guess a big portion of the churches income is that school. He is not concerned about the future of our children. He needs to be stopped and the truth needs to be told. He is a liar and a really evil individual. I hope this church fails after what he just did. I am so upset at what just happened that I can’t even put together the words. I will never hide behind a key board and say anything that is not true. But I am very upset at what this one person has done to this community and to the children of this school.

In regards to the school closure, there was a meeting held this evening and got a better understanding of what really happened. As I say there are two sides to every story. The pastor was not at fault or the school committee. I completely support them and stand by their side. The teachers and directors are the ones to be blamed. They walked out and left all the families including me hanging and abandoned just because they couldn't get their way. They voluntarily left. You need to know all the facts before you blame people.

What the Pastor C Ryan has done to the Mother’s Day out program by destroying it is disgraceful!!! This man should not be a pastor after the way he treated the teachers and directors. This was a safe place where kids could feel safe and learn to love God, a single man has taken this away from them. Parishioners are leaving because of this. Replace this man and reinstate the directors and teachers who are far better example of Christians.

The Mother's Day Out Program at First Baptist Church of Richmond is amazing! The classes are small which allows for these developing minds to get all the guidance they need. The project and activities have taught my little guy (2.5) more than I would have excepted in one school year. The leaders of the program are very active, attentive, and visible in the school! Everyone that we have encountered here from leadership to teacher to other parents have been friendly and welcoming! I highly recommend this program if you have a budding mind in your home!
