07_25_24Save yourself time and just don't even consider visiting this location for any deli or bakery needs. I'm saddened to say that I have been a loyal tom thumb customer my entire adult life andoving back to plano I couldn't wait to visit my local TT after tirelessly living next to a horrible kroger in my past two years I was delighted to actually have a tom thumb so close to me. Fast forward two months of this being my neighborhood store and it's always a hassle. The starbucks baristas don't know how to make any drinks taste like the actual chain. The deli department is NEVER available in store or over the phone and lord forbid you may want to pickup a deli sandwich tray because those are so unheard of at this store that the employees that do work there can't even tell you the difference in platters or prices. Bakery would be amazing if the ladies who worked behind the counter had the opportunity to work instead of chat about their day to day lives as if the entire produce department and customers would like to know. The manager does her best to keep customers happy but her staff is consistently failing to provide customer service as descripted in the job titles. It's only 8:30am and as of now I have called the deli twice in a row for the 3rd time this week and still am unable to reach them although I'm standing in front of the deli counter watching as not one soul cares to attend to their customers. Highly disappointed in this behavior.
I'd like to come here update my review as i have recently come to understand the reason beyond the problem.
All great things are to be said about Kendal the store manager. He has gone above and beyond his way to make sure that I was tended to in the proper manner as well as checking in on the issue stated prior to the update. Mr.Kendall is the prime example of what people with customer service titles should be. He is the reason i will continue to visit this location and change my review.

Went there intending to spend $100 so as to get $20 off. Ask about several digital items and general sale items and was told "we sold out". So had to give up the idea. Parking lot man was fantastic, they should make him store manager.

This Tom Thumb rarely has more than one cashier and o self check outs. Usually about 6 people waiting in line behind the 1 cashier. This is the case even on a Saturday morning, which is one of the busiest days to grocery shop. Unless I need just 1 item, I drive 15 minutes to HEB . SMH doesn't this Tom Thumb care about how much money it is loosing? Wish I would've taken a picture of the line this morning.

This store has gone down hill. Expired products on shelf. Expired coupons attached to merchandise. Sale prices from prior weeks still attached next to product. I talked to the manager about this before but have seen no improvement.

This is a nice Tom Thumb in an underserved area and is much better than the nearest Kroger.

The pharmacy at this Tom Thumb has some great people working there. Some of the younger employees are not so great. SO SO many times they don’t pay attention to detail and only run one of my medical insurances. I have to ASK EVERY TIME if they ran it thru both insurances. Today that was a difference between 29$ allergy med or 5$ allergy med when it was run correctly with other insurances. It gets old asking someone to do their job.

The staff is nice and the store is close by and neat. As a customer, you 100% need to CHECK EXPIRATION DATES.
They have a problem with expired items. I've had a few issues with expired food. All of these pepperonis for example, were expired in February-April. Picture is from June.
Other items that are expired, cake mix, salamis, ham, etc.
Just a heads up

The drive thru is SO much faster than picking up at the counter for prescriptions. The young lady who served me was friendly, However, my total was $3.34. I paid using a $5, a nickel, and four pennies, expecting to get back a dollar and 3 quarters. When I dug my change out of the large paper bag, I found one dollar, and seventy four cents! I know she put my money into the register because the four pennies I got back were all new. Everyone should be able to easily make change, even when us "boomers" add extra coinage to make the change simpler. I realize younger people often just don't seem to get it when we add coins, but even if she replied on a cash register telling her how much to return, it's still wrong. All I can figure is she keyed in the incorrect amount tendered. Yes, it's only a penny, and I'm happy with having shiny coins, but the issue is that everyone who handles money should understand very clearly how to calculate the extra coinage, and it shouldn't require much thinking at all. Being quick and accurate with cash register transactions will prevent criminals from trying to shortchange unwitting cashiers.
Tom Thumb, train your cashiers better! I'm not convinced she even realized what happened. Likely, as I've seen so many times with other young cashiers, she just stared at the amount, confused, and let the register do the math.
But she was very friendly and professional. It would be easier for this younger generation to just let us boomers walk around with more coins in our purses than we need. Or ma
ybe we should do like today's kids and just throw the coins on the ground, LOL.

I purchased $800 in gift cards from this location for different merchants for family members. On December 23rd and December 30th. And all the gift cards end up having zero balance on them. Which means that some kind of way the cards there are all compromised. They were all activated. But when my family members tried to use them they had zero balance. And the cards were for Ulta, Sephora PlayStation and Amazon. So if you buy them from here someone's going to scam the money off of them some type of way. Or their scam them right there at the store which I doubt that because I had different cashiers each time I purchased them. My advice is DO NOT BUY any gift cards from this Tom thumb location because they're compromised. And when someone tries to use them you will look bad because they will have a zero balance. Because all the money has been scammed off of them. So there's nothing I can do and I'm out of not only the $800 I paid for them but I have to reimburse everyone $800 as well in my family for the bad gift cards I gave them So I'm out of $1,600

I had to stop here to pick up my registration. That was fine. The store seems clean enough and the staff I encountered all seemed nice.
The issue is that I thought that while I was here, I might do a bit of grocery shopping.
Holy Cow!
Everything I looked at was anywhere from $1.50 to $2.00 more per item than anywhere else I shop!
I don't even think using the card/phone number would save you enough from that jacked-up increase to make it worth spending your monthly income on what would amount to be one week of groceries.
I did purchase a few things because I just didn't feel like going a little further away to actually buy my stuff because of severe allergies but I can say that I won't plan on making too many shopping trips here in the future no matter how nice the employees seemed to be this morning.
Heck, even the cooler Pepsi that I bought at the front was nearly the same cost as a 6 pack!
My Lord, people actually do their weekly grocery shopping here?
Where the heck do they work that they can actually afford shopping here?
