The wait was a little long but I also went around the time most vets close so I think it was just their rush. This is the second time I’ve been there and staff are always friendly and kind.

The best doctors and staff! Dr. Pilkington is thorough, intelligent and kind. Our dog had a small surgery last year and has done wonderful ever since! I Would highly recommend the doctors here. The assistants and staff are also kind and know how to calm nervous pets. Everyone is incredibly wonderful! ?

We have been going to McDermott for over 10 years. Dr Pilkington would treat our dogs. No issues. But recently I feel like my dogs have been neglected our their care and it more about money than anything else. I have 2 dogs Luke has a surgery a couple of weeks ago. He got discharged after surgery with Rimadyl!!! This poor dog was crying in pain. It was breaking my heart. Of course it Friday after hours so I call the emergency clinic to ask if I could give her any other medications that are used for humans. The lady tells me that she cannot give me any information over the phone and I need to come with the dog and pay for emergency visit. I ended up giving him expired oxycodone and gabapentin that I had left from previous visits.
Fast forward to today, my Weimaraner had ear hematoma. I tried to drain it but it came back, told my husband to take her to the vet to get surgery done. He saw Dr Brewer, she sends the dog home on Prednisone and head wrapping for 3 weeks when it’s 110 degrees outside. The dog was miserable for days, we looked at the ear and of course did not help. A few hundred dollars later another visit for surgery. We were told that the surgery will be scheduled in 2 weeks. This dog was miserable. When my husband mention pain medication Dr Brewer stated that it doesn’t hurt. Obviously I know my dog and I can see that she is very uncomfortable by the way she is breathing and behaving. Ok whatever she is the vet, we will wait for the surgery.
Today Luna had surgery. I called the clinic to make sure that she gets the pain management that my other dog didn’t get. I come home and this dog is struggling to breathe!!!! She tries to drink water and she can’t drink it. She drools so obviously we all know that this is not good. Critical care 101. She shouldn’t be discharged if she cannot protect her own airway. Are yall serious? Unbelievable! Now im sitting with her all night long to make sure she won’t suffocate.
I would like to know what caused the trauma? Then, my husband tells me that her back tooth was removed too during the surgery!!!! Who gave you the permission to remove her teeth or do X-rays? I don’t remember anyone calling me asking me about it.

I have been taking my pups to CMAH for the past 18 years. During that time I have never received anything but top quality care through to the rainbow bridge for 2 of our “babies.” You guys are the best & I would trust no one else to care for our pack.

I have been going to Custer McDermott Animal Hospital for 20+ years. The staff is wonderful. Doctors, techs, office have always been helpful and caring. My only complaint is that their prices have skyrocketed. One example: $34.29 for a nail trim - that seems quite excessive. If only reviewing the people, I would have given 5 stars.

Almost all of the front office staff is polite, friendly, and courteous. However, there is one woman who works up front who is very short, rude, and unprofessional. We called in and asked if there was a slot for our dog to have his glands expressed and we were told, “Ew…we’re just so full”. We HAD to ask her to look, and wouldn’t you know it, there was an open appointment. This isn’t the first, “Ew” we were met with either from this individual. Joana and Francis are fantastic otherwise. Vet staff is fine. This vet office overall WAY overcharges for basic tech appointments. $60 for a gland expression here when we’ve found it for $15, average for this area is about $30. Go for the staff, not for your wallet.

We have gone to CMAH since 2001 when we moved to Plano.
In May we had a particularly scary situation with Tessa, our 9 yr old Newfoundland. Tessa was on a new medication to address inflammation of her pancreas. On May 22nd, after only a few days on the new med, Tessa was showing signs of mild side effects. We contacted Dr. Cinclair by phone and, after describing her symptoms, Dr. C advised us to begin weaning her off of the new medication.Dr. C told us that he was leaving town on vacation the following day but encouraged us to contact the clinic if Tessa didn’t improve. The following day, WHILE HE WAS ON VACATION Dr. C called us to check on Tessa. We told him that she was not improving. Dr. C prescribed meds to address her upset tummy and lack of appetite. On May 24th, WHILE STILL ON VACATION, Dr. C again called us to check on Tessa. We advised him that she was getting worse. Dr. C contacted his partner, Dr. Pilkington, and scheduled an appointment for us to meet with him the following day, Saturday, May 25th, at 11:00 am. On Saturdays the clinic closes at noon. This was the Saturday before Memorial Day. Dr. P advised us that he had spoken at length with Dr. C about Tessa so that he could be as informed as possible. Dr. P thoroughly examined Tessa, did a chest x-ray, and drew blood. Dr. P contacted the on call radiologist and arranged to have Tessa’s chest x-ray results while we waited. We were at the clinic until 1:30pm, ONE AND A HALF HOURS AFTER CLOSING ON A HOLIDAY WEEKEND! Dr. P’s vet tech, Tiffany, was also there as well as a few other vet techs. In case you aren’t familiar with Newfies, they are a giant breed, Tessa weighs 115 pounds. It requires several techs to take x-rays and an additional tech was running the blood work. Tessa was diagnosed with severe pneumonia and acute pancreatitis. Dr. P gave us an antibiotic for the pneumonia and special canned food for the pancreatitis. AT NO TIME did Dr. P, Tiffany, or any of the other members of staff make us feel like we were an imposition or like they were in a hurry to begin their three day weekend. We were treated with kindness and compassion. Dr. C contacted us by phone later in the day and the following day, yes STILL on his vacation, to check on Tessa. Tessa eventually rallied and overcame both the pneumonia and the acute pancreatitis. It is easy for a vet to say that they care or to say that they will always do whatever they can for your pet but it is an entirely different matter to actually do it when the time arises. We will forever be grateful to Dr. Cinclair, Dr. Pilkington, Tiffany, and the other members of staff who selflessly did all they did to make sure that Tessa received the medical care and treatment that she needed.
We must also say that we were not surprised by how we were treated. When we moved to Plano in 2001 my husband thoroughly researched vets in the area, visiting several, and ultimately choosing CMAH.At the time they were in a small office in a strip mall across the street from their current state of the art clinic. There were other newer, flashier practices in the area but my husband said he just got a good feeling from CMAH. That “good feeling” has been reinforced so many times during the past 23 years and three dogs that they have treated. It should also be noted that the same people that my husband met in 2001, Dr. Cinclair, Dr. Pilkington, Frances, and Vickie are all still there, such a rarity these days to find that kind of continuity of care and longevity at the same practice. While the doctors in a veterinary practice are obviously important, a good practice needs a solid staff to make the whole practice run smoothly. CMAH has a phenomenal support staff. Techs Madison and Bailey are kind and gentle. Fantasia, Vickie, Frances, Joanna, & Stephanie at the front desk handle the phones, prescription refills, food orders, all the behind the scene challenging logistics of a large practice.
We can’t recommend CMAH highly enough. If you are looking for a professional, competent

We took our dogs to Dr. Pilkington and he couldn't have been more thorough in his exam of them. We recently moved from out of state and finding a vet you can trust is not easy. Dr.Pilkington & his staff were so welcoming and ensured that we received a nice Texas welcome. He also recommended a few treatments that are new to us, as in our former state were not needed (heart-worm therapy, etc.) They also carry all of their food at the clinic which is really convenient. Thank you to all!
