The Bel Air apartments are great!! Starting with great staff the whole experience is wonderful! They help you find an apartment that is right for you! The maintenance team is very responsive and are good at their trade! Trust me!! These two teams can make or break your experience!! The garage, pool and other amenities are top of the line!! Their location in Downtown Plano is amazing. The stores, restaurants and entertainment is non-stop!

I had a few concerns and the regional Manager was kind and quick about addressing them. I got a call immediately after calling the communities to address any issues I had regarding the broken elevator and gates to the buildings. It has been a while since they were broken, but I appreciate the proactiveness to follow up with tenants and the update. Thank you for the communication! The property is beautiful and it is surrounded by amazing restaurants. I personally really love the access to the garage and the pool.
The apartments are mostly sound proof.
The property is clean. I see them check the garage every once in a while. I feel safe walking around the property.

Garage makes the apartments easily accessible, location is great, I really love my apartment and it’s very affordable for the area. Pool looks really cool too! Thank you to Hailey for being so accommodating and sweet with us when moving in!

I still have Roaches after several exterminating attempts, White Appliances (Not stainless steel), secure gate stays unlocked, Elevator smells and is never cleaned

I was not going to leave a review until I received this post move out bill!
DO NOT MOVE HERE!
This was the worst renting experience I have ever had. I lived in these apartment for 5 years. Within that time frame there were so many changes within management that I could not keep up. The more years that went by the worse it got! At first the experience was great. But please believe ALL of the reviews posted. All gates are always broken! The trash is always piled up! Packages are stolen! Your car will be towed! Maintenance is lazy! The grounds are alway dirty! The top floor where visitors have to park and the stair well leading there always had used condoms, empty liquor/beer bottles, and drug baggies!
1. I had an issue where my toilet broke. When maintence came and looked the resolve was for them to give me a key to an empty apartment on another floor. It took them about 3 days to fix it.
2. I experienced issues with my AC for a good 6 months before they came to the conclusion that something needed to be replaced and handled it. Which means my apartment was always hot.
3. I received a post move out bill where they are charging me for additional days that I did NOT reside. Which means I have to pay extra fees that I should not have to pay!
4. They have no knowledge of the DOUBLE DEPOSIT that I paid when I moved in. Which means I don’t get ANY of my money back!
I had pictures that I previously had take. But deleted because of how nice they were when I moved out. But I am definitely regretting it. Don’t move here! You’ll regret it!

This review focuses on the security and maintenance of the complex.
The gates have been broken for months despite multiple requests to the office. They keep saying they're working on it, but it's been a year with no improvement.
The doors to the building through multiple floors slam shut and many handles are broken when you pull to open. They do not even have locks at this point. The entryways from the garage are worn out and dirty. The stairwells are also dirty with paint peeling off and moldy walls. Poorly maintained.
The trash chutes are a nice feature, but they often have piles of trash and grease, making it difficult to use them properly.

I want to think my complaint 2 times so far as a New Tenant so early in my stay at Bel Air isn't going Ignored, due to my neighbor above me, has been a "Monitoring Spirit" tracking me all day from room to room, I can hear whoever he or she is trotting into areas they hear me in my apt into and start banging right over my head. I can't pee, talk on my phone, cook in my kitchen with the monitoring me all day and night like some predator stalking me in this 700 sq ft apartment. It's CREEPY and Harrassing! I came to the office again 2/16 @3:45 to let the Office here the recording of their Insanity towards me.
So, my stay has been uncomfortable thus far.

Before typing this review I want to be very clear that I’ve been extremely forgiving and patient on this apartment’s shortcomings for these last 12 months, but at this point I feel anyone looking to lease here is owed some transparency to avoid the myriad of serious issues that comes with signing a lease here.
I’ve included the good and bad below. If you want the tl;dr it is: bad management, poorly trained staff, theft, mold, lack of accountability from management.
List of Issues:
Incorrect move-out charges
My final move out charges are not only wrong (double charged for rent) but were posted a full week AFTER the due date. I’ve contacted the main office and the corporate office with no success (very common experience as you'll see) and after a very poor 12 months of living here I’ve finally lost any patience left and have to resort to posting a google review to get any movement on this.
Move-in - Unprepared staff, no one at the office for over two hours, given wrong information, given wrong gate opener, given lease with wrong information on it, not given mail key. The maintenance guy was the most helpful person on my move-in which was a bizarre experience.
No communication - Nearly towed due to the apartment not communicating extended move-out date to the towing company. Generally you’ll have to talk to 3 different people to get anything done. I want to be very clear and point out that these are not complicated issues, the front end staff did not know where the keys or gate openers were during move-in for example. There have been countless examples of office staff giving me completely wrong information on important issues like setting up parking - and unfortunately, they will just tell you anything to get you off the phone.
Theft
Porch piracy is rampant. We had 3 packages stolen in 12 months of living here despite extra caution on our end. No cameras in the hallways. Regional manager said that mag-locks were starting to be installed on all exterior metal doors on March 5, 2024. As of May 16, 2024, any new mag locks that were installed (not every door got one) were not maintained. The only one that worked was the parking garage gate which is the only one that does not directly restrict access to the hallways. Even if this door was important you could just get around it anyways by entering the hallway doors… because they weren’t locked.
Everything external is broken
The parking garage gate is constantly broken, the exterior doors are constantly broken (locks will be broken and lying on the floor half the time), and the elevator was broken during my last 2-3ish months of living here. No it wasn't fixed when I left. And no, accommodation was not offered. If you’re ADA (like we are) then I highly recommend avoiding this one for this reason.
Black Mold
I did not realize this apartment had a black mold problem until our neighbor informed us that she was moving out early due to having black mold. We were never notified of this by management.
No USPS Package Deliveries
USPS will not deliver packages to your door. Yes you will have to make time to get to USPS physically during the work week to pick up your package. This isn’t the apartment's fault but is still very annoying.
Trash Rooms and Grounds
If you like stepping in dog feces and climbing over a mountain of trash to throw your garbage away then this is the perfect apartment complex for you. And no - they don’t have the ability to enforce these rules as there are no cameras anywhere.
Bugs
Water roaches will come out of the pipes from time to time. Not a rampant problem but it does exist.
The good - Yes there are good things and I will give credit where it is due.

I loved my time at Bel Air Downtown! I stayed here for 3 months while completing an internship in Plano with Bank of America. Being from out of town and it my first time in Texas, I was nervous. All of those fears were stomped out when I got there. Everyone at the apartment was so helpful and attentive! They made my stay so much more comfortable! I only stayed for the month of August for 11 days and my rent was waived for only 11 days. I only have good things to say about Bel Air Downtown!
