Took Dad to breakfast at RGV Tacos del Guero. Pulling up to the park, I immediately noticed a long line of cars in the drive-thru.Walking in, I see that it's full of patrons and patrol officers. (I saw the parking lot). Anyways, we get in line headed towards a steam table behind glass. Once there, you have a True South Texas breakfast taco selection to choose from. The line moves fast here because you get your food right away, sit down, and then they come by and write the ticket. An attendant took our drink order, and a waitress brought the drinks and left our ticket. I noticed the prices on the ticket to more than reasonable. Dad ordered achorizo and egg taco. I ordered Pappas a la Mexicana, chorizo and egg, and a Gordita filled with cheese in a light tomato sauce. Everything was very tasty, I like that the Pappas Ala Mexicana were somewhat saucy and not dry like I've had at other places. The Gordita was the star of my breakfast, I hit it with their jalapeño salsa to kick it up a bit. It was super crispy, fresh, light, and had that fresh off the grill taste. I absolutely loved it. There was a traditional red taco sauce as well, which I enjoyed on my other tacos. Lastly, Dad ordered these mini, sweet, empanadas filled with Carmel and coated in chopped pecans. I should have gotten a shot of them, sorry. I plan on going back to try some lunch plates. Walking out, people are still walking in, and there are four cars in the drive-thru.

The staff is so friendly. We told them it was our 1st visit, so they gave us huge samples of their most popular dishes and any others we wanted to try. We loved their carne deshebrada and carne guisada the most. We'll definitely be back.

Got there a little late so there weren't some food items that we wanted. It was packed, so I knew it was going to be good. I will say it is a bit pricey, for 3 people we spent $50. Don't have any complaints.

More accurate would be 3.5 stars. The food was pretty good, not a lot of spice, but some of the choices were rich in flavor. The service is odd: a bit like a cafeteria and sit down and a meat market. No one really explains where to start or what to do. Theres pictures of different plates you can get, but there's nothing to indicate what's what when you order at the hot box unless you ask multiple questions. There are no prices listed in plain sight either. They do have a drive thru, but I did not use that service at this time. I'll give their service a bump up in that the servers were accomidating to handicapped customers. They don't pass though very often so make sure to ask what you need on the first run. Hence, the lower scores in those areas. Otherwise a quick bite and go on our merry way. I personally liked the tinga(carne deshebrada???) and nopal with meat.
