I had a great experience with Cody and Top Teer Strength until I tried to cancel my membership.
I called Cody in October 2023, asking him to place my membership on indefinite hold as I was going out of town for a couple months. Over the next couple months, my dad and I contacted him multiple times asking to cancel as I would not be returning, and reminding him that I had asked to place it on hold in October. Each time he was apologetic and said he would get on it ASAP.
In early 2024 we started disputing charges, as we weren't getting anywhere on the cancellation. Unsurprisingly, the dispute notice finally motivated Cody to get moving on something.
I received a text from him today, asking me to call him to "talk about a refund." I gave him a call, and we did not talk about a refund as expected. Instead I received a lecture about how "that's not how business works" and how cancellation requests had to be in writing (I was not informed of this on any of my phone calls with him). He conveniently has no recollection of our phone calls. He told he me would be denying the disputes and reporting it to the credit bureaus.
It's not the money thats the issue. I joined his gym when I was 16 and genuinely looked up to him, and I feel like he took advantage of the fact that I trusted him.

Meeting Cody at Top Teer is like the first time you see the Grand Canyon in person. You can’t really put the feeling into words, just one of those things that you have to experience it to understand it. He’s built an amazing community that is more than just a place to lift heavy things. Come to Top Teer for the brigadier and stay for the beer.

Awesome gym but better bar! the atmosphere and service here is phenomenal. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a good workout a great drink and everything in between.

Hard-core gym with very helpful trainers. It's a close-knit welcoming community. I'm glad I left Das Rec for Top Teer.

As a college student who is out of town most of the time, it's nice to visit New Braunfels and have a place to lift. Not only is this a great gym, but a gym built from a great foundation of support, strength training, and accessibility. Cody (Owner) is a great person and will attend to your needs if needed! I would reccomend stopping by if you're looking for a lift.

Went to a Meetup at this location. The owner Cody was nice and Christina and her husband who coordinated the event was nice as well. Very cosy and out of the way place to chill and relax.

I noticed this new hangout on my daily commute and just wanted to share my experience. Me and my husband live less than a mile away and really enjoy supporting local businesses but the unprofessionalism of this establishment stood out enough for me to give the second bad review of my life. Last Friday I’ve never seen such a lack of class behind the bar from what I’m guessing was the girl that was running the place that was obviously drunk. If you enjoy a cramped daycare type experience with screaming kids and poor amenities this might be your place but I think I’ll just drive a few more miles to the our local spots.

If you are looking for a great gym, with a great atmosphere, and everything you could possibly need, your search has ended. But don't take my word on it...stop by and see for yourself. I have been to the big box gyms, the family friendly gyms, and Top Teer is in a league of its own. If you are looking to just do traditional weightlifting, you will love it here. If you are looking to strong man or powerlifting, you will love it here. If you are looking to do Olympic lifts and MetCons, you will love it here. They truly have it all. Bonus, you can access the gym 24/7. Since I have started going here, I have not had to wait for any equipment to open up as there is plenty of it and it is never all that busy when I go.On top of all of that, the owner is an amazing down to Earth guy who is trying to build community by putting on great events which include feats of strength, music, and food trucks.I could go on, but you may have already stopped reading. Just come in and check it out already.
