Booked a rental car weeks in advance of my arrival for my daughters wedding. I did book through a 3rd party but recieved a Hertz Confirmation. 45 minutes prior to scheduled pick-up Hertz called to tell me they do not have vehicle. No assistance, no compensation in getting another, basically I was politely told tough luck, "big weekend in town" and they were short over 100 vehicles. How does the largest rental car company in the world overbook by that many cars. Tried to call but there is no option for those who got dump. If airlines have to compensate for overbooking its time to have DOT start monitoring rental car company on behalf of consumers
BOTTOMLINE DO NOT TRUST HERTZ!!

Very difficult because they say the will get you a car for the truck and don't communicate their inability to do what they say.

If I could give this place 0 stars I would. I made a reservation weeks in advance for a road trip I was going on. When it came time to pick up the car I was informed there's no cars available. When I asked the guy at the desk what's the point in accepting reservations when you don't have the inventory to back it up he said " well there's 3 others ahead of you and they prepaid who are waiting for cars" which isn't an answer to the question I asked. They never notified me by phone or email to make other arrangements & let me know they didn't have a car. I had to ask if they could take down my name & number and notify me when something comes available. I looked for other options and was able to find a car with Avis rental. By the time Hertz contacted me back (which was 5 hours later) I was already about to cross state lines from Texas to Louisiana on my road trip in my new rental from Avis. I definitely wouldn't recommend Hertz or even try them again. This was the first & last time.

Was one of the most rudest experiences I have ever had with rental car company ever! Getting insurance work done through BB collision from hail damage on my car? The insurance was spose to pay $35.00 per day, which should cover taxes and everything included? But not hertz they wanted me to cover the tax?

Do not ever attempt to rent a car from this location. Had a reservation 6 days in advance and come time to pick up the car they call me and state they have no cars to rent me. I went to the location and as I stood there they rented a white guy a vehicle while I was standing there with no reservation and they had 4 cars in the lot waited to be rented and they would still not acknowledge me or my reservation. The girl is the absolute worst. Be warned do not attempt to rent from this location.

After being bounced around from department to department I finally landed on customer service for this location and everything was solved and the man helping me was so nice and professional.

I wouldn’t even bother reserving any vehicles. Made an important trip/vacation and decided to reserve a vehicle with this hertz location a month in advance. That same day I was supposed to pick up the vehicle I get a call from a sales rep telling me they have no vehicles. Ruining my plans I had made. How are they going to call me last minute to tell me there are no vehicles. Absolutely unprofessional. As i said no point in reserving if they can't actually reserve when they have no cars available. Will never do business with hertz again.

Take forever to answer the phone, then put me on hold for 20 minutes. They gave me a truck that had an expired license plate sticker, and no gas. Went and traded the truck and got another truck that had vomit stains in back seats, and tail light was out. Later down the road check engine light and change oil came on.

Sadly the performance of the New Braunfels facility was not good. On arrival 30mins before the scheduled time we were told that there were no cars available. After telling them we had a 4hr drive to Houston to catch a plane they miraculously found one that they had to prepare for hire. Well done to them on the ground for getting a vehicle ready in a short time frame but the administrators need to get organised properly. It could have been a disaster!

There is no one at this location that cares. I made a reservation online and when I arrived to pick up the car, they were closed. (Day after 4th of July). If they were closed, why did they make the reservation? When I arrived today, the following day, they wanted me to wait an hour for someone to go pick up a car for me at another location rather than renting me the exact car I reserved which was on their lot (see pictures) because someone else was coming to rent that car later today. So why not give the later reservation the car you're going to pick up? I have never felt like a more worthless customer than I did here today. Needless to say, I walked out and will never be back. Two trips to pick up my reserved car due to their error and they want me to wait another hour rather than get me on the road.

If you are looking for it and can't find it, that's because it's located inside the collision center. When I got there to pick up the vehicle it was filthy with huge spots that they missed when they washed it. I told the girl that rented it to me and she said "oh that's because they hand wash them." She wasn't willing to have it cleaned and said it was the only one they had. The back didn't look like it had been vacuumed either. Her answer was that it had been "disinfected." I prepaid for gas and when I got in it only had 3/4 of a tank. When I went to return the vehicle I had to wait for about 1/2 an hour because nobody was at the desk. When a guy finally showed up he wanted to wait on the last guy in line first because he was returning a car...and if you want a printed receipt be prepared to wait even longer.

The absolute worst experience I’ve ever had. I was running late so I called Hertz to let them know. They told me no worries, my car is reserved and it is there. We arrive and the man behind the desk wants to know why we were late to determine if our being late was worthy of his concern. He gave our car out and told me he didn’t have anything for me.He had 4 keys in his desk so I asked if there was a car I could have. He told me no. I asked why I didn’t get a call when my car was given out and he told me “I don’t hold cars and I don’t call customers “. I asked when his reservations were for, he told me 4pm. At 4:10 I asked him if I can now have my reserved car. He said “no, I have reservations “ I reminded him that he doesn’t hold cars. He then called one of his 4pm reservations to ask if she was still coming in and promised to hold the car until 5. (Even though he said he doesn’t call or hold cars). He had an issue with us the second we walked in. We paid for a reservation, we called hertz to let them know we were running late. Our car was still given out, and he chose to keep 3 cars over night for other guests who never showed, instead of giving us a car. I rent cars often, and own a company that rents cars weekly. I understand how rentals work, I understand the shortage going on now. This is not a shortage issue, this is a man who decided we are not worth his car issue.

Worst experience I ban Hertz from my thoughts for all eternity. We were driving from San Antonio to Dallas to catch a flight to Florida for family vacation.I preserved a van a month in advance only to learn the night before they had sold out of all cars leaving the area. The only option was to drive 40 minutes away to New Braunfels to rent from that site. I made the reservation online which explained the $200 deposit on all debit cards. This was the exact amount the previous rental had said so it was in the budget. Kind of steep for a one day rental but whatever. I get a ride for my entire family plus luggage make it to the Hertz location in NB and waited almost 45 minutes at the counter for the two employees to come back from God knows where. Only to be told my new deposit amount is $500 the policy has changed a week prior and they haven’t updated the online portal I should have called not reserved online. There was nothing that could be done I needed to pay the cost of rental plus a $500 deposit for a day rental! I left in tears and without my rental. The employees were just following policies which I get but they were rude and condescending. She even rolled her eyes at me when I explained we would miss our flight without a rental to get to Dallas.
