I was in Texas for a week with my parents when my senior chihuahua suddenly stopped using his back legs. My parents bring their pups to Comal Pet Hospital so this was of course who we called - they were able to get my pup in within 2 hours. Being out of town, the office made it so easy for me during an extremely scary day - they reached out to my home vet (in Oregon), had all of records sent over and reviewed them before we got to the office to see Dr. Cruz. The entire staff were so caring and helpful from the second I called for an emergency appointment through the follow ups the days after. Dr. Cruz was very informative and took the time to make sure I understood the diagnosis and care plan. I was sent home with a recovering pup, all of the prescriptions we would need, and a detailed document of our visit for me to bring back to our vet back home.
I had some concerns with my pup's reactions to the medicine, called and left a voicemail on a Friday not expecting follow up given the weekend on the horizon. Dr. Barrera took the time to call me back late Friday and again go through all of my dog's history, diagnosis and current treatment plan. She gave me an updated dosage for some of his medicines and then sent a detailed email with all of the details of our discussion, which I sincerely appreciated!
I would highly recommend Comal Pet Hospital - and I cannot thank them enough for their care of my little guy!!!

I left a vet because it was taking 3 weeks to get an appointment and an hour to see the Doc once I got there. I have four dogs & CPH knows myself and each of them by name. All 3 female Dr.s we have worked with have been top 10 all stars. They all get right on the ground with me & they love & take the time needed to care for each of my dogs. Every single staff member is also a top 10. I only have a wait when there is a pet that is definitely more important at the moment than mine. Their response time & follow through is impecable by both the team & doctors. I get an appointment within 1-48 hrs. I dont want to let this little secret out, but they are the very best vet service I've ever experienced. My pack wouldn't go anywhere else. I am so thankful that I found them. I can't thank & each & every single one of you at Comal Pet Hospital enough for all you do for us. Love, Joni, Spooner,

Once again Dr. Barrera and Cheyenne took good care of my Ruger. They are great with my pets and respectful of my desire to keep costs down.

I take all my pets PLUS my parents pets here, I have never been to a more pleasant, professional, safe environment where I feel the staff genuinely cares for all our fur babies, my dog actually LOVES when i say the word “vet”. Highly recommend!

Updating my review after a very stressful week with this clinic. Called to have a prescription renewed for my 16 year old senior dog. For context, he has issues with throwing up occasionally after meals. We noticed when he had his ultrasound back in June that he has gastroparesis. She prescribed him metoclopramide and explained how she doesn’t want to have to have an animal on meds long term if possible but if it helps him, we’ll go that route.
Fast forward to this week and he finally ran out. It has been a lifesaver for him. He’s able to stomach his food, now has healthy bowel movements, and has even put on weight. I called Tuesday asking for a prescription renewal. Crickets, didn’t hear anything back. Finally today (Friday) I call at 8:30 AM asking about the prescription. They said they’ll get with the vet tech and call me back. 3:45 PM and I still haven’t heard anything.
I call back and am told that Dr. Barrera won’t give him the refill. I had explained to the vet tech that wasn’t the course of care that we had discussed and this medicine has helped this dog tremendously and we’ll be going out of town for a week. I don’t want him getting sick at someone’s house. Again, vet tech said they’d talk to Dr. Barrera and they’d call me back but it would be a little later since she had clients. Understandable and I said that’s fine.
Never heard anything back. They lost us as patients because it’s clear my pets wellbeing is not of importance in any way.
I felt like the staff here was very competent however, we unfortunately more than likely won’t return because they’re not within the CareCredit network. My dog had a $585 bill and I asked if they could put it on the promotional plan. The receptionist did. A few days later when the charge posted, I saw that the promotional plan was terminated. When I reached out to CareCredit, they said that Comal Pet Hospital was not within the CareCredit network therefor no purchases made there, regardless of amount, would be able to be on the 0% promotional period. Total bummer because vet bills can be expensive and CareCredit’s standard interest rates are insane.

TOOK MY KITTY FOR SECOND OPINION OF PROBLEMS, STAFF IS SUPER NICE AND SEEM VERY KNOWLEDGEABLE. YES, A LITTLE PRICEY, BUT FEEL PROBLEM IS BEING SOLVED AND TAKEN CARE OF, FOLLOWUP BY PHONECALL WITH PET IS NICE ALSO. DR. PENA IS THE BEST!

Dr. Pena did an amazing job taking care of my dog Weedoe. She couldnt make him look cuter but she did keep him healthy and happy! We will be back for his next round of shots. Thank you Dr. Pena!!!!

We’ve been very pleased with all care received. My pup was very much at ease with Dr. Cruz and staff. I was impressed with their knowledge, professionalism, communication, and care. Their prices are reasonable and service was great.

Wonderful vet! All of the staff genuinely care for your pets and want nothing but the best for them. They take the time to listen to your questions and concerns. They regularly check-in with you about your pet, even via text and after office hours.

I had the best experiences here! Had to bring my pup in for a senior wellness exam/ blood work and an ear infection, and both times Dr. Pena provided the BEST treatment and advice. The entire staff was incredible! The facility is clean, well decorated and welcoming, and they even gave my pup and I water bottles for the ride home. I drive in from San Antonio, and it is absolutely worth it. 10/10 recommend!

Sydney is awesome. She is super knowledgeable and loves all the animals that come through the door . Also a shout out to Dr Cruz super awesome as well . Our visit was a great experience all the way around .

I took my dog here recently because she wasn’t feeling well and I received the best service I have received in a long time. The staff were so nice and friendly. The next day they called to check up that my dog was doing okay. It was my first time here and I will be back.
