Great aesthetics and creative menu. Drove an hour for brunch and were less that impressed. Our appetizer came at the same time as our meal and our meal was cold. The wait staff was also inattentive. Overall a lackluster experience.

For the price I paid, I thought I would have had a better room. There were ants in the bathroom. As I was packing up to check out, a huge roach ran across the bedroom carpet. Also didn't realize I booked a room outside of the hotel. Had to walk around the building outside late at night to get to my room. Staff was not at the front desk to check people in. Same thing when I checked out - Had to wait for staff. Very disappointed for the price.

Staff not at desk to check people in, doesn't know hotel. Rooms outside a small fortune. What a rip off.

We had brunch outside next to the pool. It has a very retro rat pack type of feel to it. The breakfast burrito I got was incredibly salty!!!!! I couldn't even finish it, and believe me, folks...I finish my meals! But, I'm he other people in my group loved their food, so order anything EXCEPT the breakfast burrito with chorizo. The holiday decorations are beautiful, by the way!

Great stay, good food, prices for rooms way toooooo high for the lack of. Amenities! When I asked why the prices were so high it was because they were fully booked. That literally makes no sense to me for senior citizens to pay close to $500 for less than 24 hours was ridiculous. We will reconsider our stay here again.

Vintage style hotel. Seems to be one of the nicer places in Nacogdoches. Steakhouse got rave reviews, but we never were able to try it. Rooms are small but nice and comfortable. If I have to return to Nacogdoches, I will book at the Fredonia Hotel again.

Really neat how they returned it to the retro look. Classy accommodations. A little pricey but will stay there again.

The hotel is nice and quaint. My only issue is the lack of parking for paying customers when they host events.

Agree with all of the rave reviews below. We stayed in a Tower suite as well as moving over to a Tower room when we added an extra night. Everyone at the front desk was courteous and welcoming, the rooms were absolutely immaculate, plenty of towels and amenities in the bathroom, and the beds and pillows were seriously comfortable. The suite was very spacious with large windows and great views; having a kitchen area with a good frig and freezer was a real bonus. It is clear that the management and staff take great pains to maintain a quality hotel experience for their guests. Food at City Cafe and drinks from the bar were great (try the Pepino and the candied jalapeno spread!) A few comments and suggestions: The centrally located pool is lovely to look at, but its location with lots of folks dining and drinking right next to it makes it a bit intimidating for swimming with an audience! Maybe that is why we never saw anyone swim there all weekend. The sinks in the bathroom are really challenging. They are low and include a shelf right above the sink that basically makes it impossible to lean down without smacking your forehead, even more so if you are a large person. There were no full length mirrors. Given how nicely designed these rooms are, we found that quite surprising. In the suite, there is a bar with wire barstools that are functional, but not very comfortable. The suite is wonderfully large with lots of empty space - maybe they could add a regular size table and chairs in one of the corners for more comfortable eating in the room. We enjoyed our stay; it was nice to spend time relaxing in such a lovely hotel.

I love the retro 50/60 type vibe you get from their hotel, it reminds me of the Hotel Belmont in Dallas when it was around that I really enjoyed! The hotel service overall was fantastic with prompt attention and super clean rooms. If you combine that with price it is an absolute gem in the rough. The steakhouse that is attached to it as well was a very pleasant surprise as I have been all over the world and to find a place like this in a smaller town in rural Texas was an incredible find. Trust me you won't be disappointed for the trip here whether it's a short business trip, or a weekend trip with the wife it will be worth it!

We stayed here during a trip this weekend and it was better than most hotels I've been in and we had brunch the next evening, which was great. The food took a bit to get to us but it was worth it.

What a great place! The hotel has a great retro vibe with restaurants, great bar serving creative cocktails, and an adorable pool. They have suite rooms, tower rooms, and cabana rooms near the pool. All the staff was welcoming and friendly. Service was top notch! Both bar and City Cafe restaurants were well worth it! They also have meeting space as well. Local historic downtown area, with plenty of shops go wander in while you are here. You can also go to the Fredonia brewery a few steps from the hotel. Will definitely return to stay.

WOW one of the best bed and pillows I have ever experienced! The shower was amazing as well. They supply you with GOOD shampoo and conditioner which is a rarity these days. Also a rarity, a Keurig in your room. Watching a movie from our balcony was such a cute experience. And their beautiful downtown area is only a SAFE few mins walk.

As others have mentioned, this place is like a wonderful step back into a time long, long ago. It's beautiful, well appointed, and has some absolutely fantastic decor. Our first visit was in in 2020, just for brunch, but we recently stayed as a hotel guest, and that's what this review will focus on. First of all: Be very careful what you book here. There's a "tower" which has traditional rooms inside of a multistory building, but there are also the "terrace" rooms that are at ground level or second floor, that open to the outside like a motel, around the two pools on the property. Some of those terrace rooms actually have a view of a brick wall (literally). From an outside façade experience, they're just like a motel. Having said that, on the inside, they are very well appointed, like you'd expect from a nice hotel, with nice fixtures, artwork, overall decor etc. So, it's an interesting contrast; a hotel room inside of a motel "shell". Just be aware of this when you book. Our room was very comfortable and nice once we were inside, and since we were only staying one night, it was fine. We had a view of the heated pool, which literally had steam coming off of it and was in good use, even in late November, so I imagine it felt wonderful. The following morning, we again headed to the cafe for brunch, and it was excellent. While my chosen crabcake Benedict was very delicious, a purloined bit of biscuit and pancake from my girlfriend's and her granddaughter's plates turned out to be some of the best of those items I've ever experienced. The pancake, in particular, was a soft, basic buttermilk disc with merely a smear of butter and a little syrup, but the texture and delicate flavor were incredible. It was a super delicious meal, in a wonderful throwback environment. Overall, this is a beautiful place to stay or dine, just make sure you choose wisely when booking a room, and check out the gift shop, it's nicely upscale and has some cool items in it.
