We held our son’s Wedding Rehearsal Dinner at the Harborview Room at the Bentwater Yacht Club this past weekend. It was so beautiful! Working with Bentwater event coordinator, Andrea James was wonderful. She was polite, professional and made sure every detail was perfect! The staff that night at the rehearsal dinner were friendly and ready to help. Shane, Ashley and the others were great!We also had reservations for the Villas at the Bentwater Country Club. Renee, Chloe and everyone was friendly and helpful! The location was perfect not far from the Big Sky Barn. Love the the Bentwater Yacht & Country Club!

The start of our experience planning our wedding at Bentwaters yacht club was good. Cheryl was wonderful. Unfortunately she left midway through our planning and was replaced with Andrea. There were many communication failures on Bentwaters part. They were rude and would demand decisions in a few hours with no notice. Things we were promised such as passed wine at dinner never happened. They threw away our leftover cake before speaking with us then lied about it. Dinner was served cold and was not the same quality we had in our tasting. They served the wrong salad. After emails trying to address concerns I am being ignored. They also over charged us on many items that were not discussed prior. My advice do not plan your wedding here until they change coordinators and get everything they say in writing.

We got the chance of a life time to celebrate our union with Bentwater. Everyone who worked our event felt like family. Our event coordinator, Cheryl White (who is in the green), was SO amazing. She truly went above and beyond for my husband & me. If given the chance to use Bentwater again, I would book them in a heart beat!

If you want to live in a gated community where most of your neighbors are going to be over the age of 70, this may be the community for you. We are about 25 years younger and we don't want to live in a neighborhood where in the next 5-10 years our neighbors are going to either move closer to other family/grandchildren, and/or going to die. No sense in getting to be close friends with people that won't be around in 5-10 years. We moved here about a year ago ONLY because after looking for over 6 months, we finally found a newly built house with a floor plan that fit our needs. THE POSITIVES: The neighbors that we have met on our street have been very friendly. People take in each other's garbage and recycling cans after pick-up, get and hold delivered packages when someone is on vacation, and at times help with getting people to doctor's appointments and to get prescriptions and/or groceries. Overall, little to no crime. COSTS vs BENEFITS: You HAVE to MINIMALLY be a member of the Country Club (Which is separate from the Property Owners' Association- so you pay 2 separate dues.) The base, Social Membership for the Country Club and the Property Owners' Association dues add up to about $3,200/year currently.) That is a waste of money if you don't use the Country Club- and the base, "Social Membership" only allows you to eat at the Country Club, use the 2 pools (and there is no, "Adult swim" so adults can swim laps without dealing with children jumping in the pool), and schedule haircuts/nail appointments/facials at the salon. On Sunday: Breakfast/brunch ends at 11am. The last community we were members of also had 3 golf courses (which were MUCH less expensive [$70/month got you use of all three courses and facilities], and they were NICER than Bentwater). The big Sunday draw at the other community was after church brunch at the largest of the country club facilities. Most of the churches around here end their services between 10:30am and noon, so if you want to take your family out for brunch, you can't do it in Bentwater. Spend another $5,000 initiation fee on top of what you already had to pay, and about another $80/month and then you can use the gym. For that kind of money, I could buy people on half of my street gym memberships at one of the gyms in the Montgomery/Conroe area. When looking to purchase here, the General Manager of the country club and marina seemed to have little interest in giving us and our realtor a tour. And when mentioning possible interest in one of the golf level memberships, one would have thought that they would have offered at least one free round of golf to see if we even liked one of the 3 golf courses here. And traffic enforcement? There is no traffic enforcement- not by local law enforcement or by private security. The excuse is that because it is a private, gated community, traffic laws cannot be enforced. If the Property Owner's Association really wanted to have proper traffic laws enforced, under the Uniform Traffic Code Sections Sec. 542.007 and/or 542.008, they could petition for enforcement to occur. In the past few months: We've been almost run off the road by a reckless driver, and at last 4 times almost had our vehicle's hit by people driving that did not think that STOP signs applied to them. About the ONLY time the local Constable's office is in here is to block streets so that people that are having friend's come for the July 4th fireworks are not parking on certain streets. Our realtor used to live in Bentwater and she and her family moved out because of the country club fees, the lack of traffic enforcement, and the, "nit-picky" rules of the Property Owner's Association (I.E. Neighbors of ours wanted to put in a swing-set for their kids and they A. Had to pay $100 to the Architectural Committee, and then B. Go around to their neighbors and have the neighbors sign a form that said it was okay for them to install the swing-set. That is ridiculous. And last year: The Property Owners&

Went to an 80's party there. Great music and the outdoor fire pits were nice to sit by. Felt like I was back in high school in the 80's. Everyone in their own little clicks. Did not feel welcomed. Was going to attend the 70's party in May, but probably won't now.
