I have been visiting here regularly, every 3-4 months, for years now. The transformation from 2019 to the present has been remarkable and positive in many aspects. The environment is now cleaner, more pleasant, and significantly more welcoming. Renovations have improved the layout, making it easier to find what you need. However, I am saddened by the absence of the art section, which used to inspire my storytelling. Recently, I have struggled to find even a fraction of the artistic resources that were once available.

Great store. Discovered many new books that I put on my list to read. I try to limit myself to two purchases a visit, one for me and one for my son.

I don't have a bookstore in my town, so occasionally we drive to Midland to go here. They keep it clean and organized. Personally, I find the customer service is hit or miss, people in the morning seem like a friendlier crew than the closing crew, but this bookstore is still enjoyable. They have a Starbucks Café inside as well.

Used to be a fun chill spot with an easy to navigate layout. Now it seems they've collaborated with David Bowie and are creating their own Labyrinth. Instead of flowing smoothly across shelves, sections will completely flip to the back side of the shelf you're looking at or jump multiple shelves THEN jump to the outer wall. Not the easiest to navigate.
The coffee is always okay at best. I can't say I've had it in recent time and went "wow this is great!" At most it's "I'll toss this after being halfway because it tastes burnt / tastes mid."
I swing in every once in a while but normally leave empty-handed.

Good selection of books and games, including a sizeable manga and light novel section. Friendly and helpful cafe employees. Some seating dispersed throughout the store if you want to sit down and think about getting a book without going all the way to the cafe. I really enjoyed sipping the oat milk lavender latte while enjoying my new books. ?
The parking lot is a bit on the small side though.
