I received a pet kitty from this shelter and told them I was looking for a companion for my other kitty, since his current one at the time, had run out the door and hadn’t returned. I found a sweet and affectionate cat that I couldn’t wait to get home. Unfortunately, her sweet and affectionate disposition didn’t show itself with my feline. She hissed and spat at him whenever she saw him and they both were getting traumatized , To make matters worse, she was not litter box trained and pooped a total of seven times (diarrhea) in the short period I had her. I brought her back the same day and that’s when the trouble started. I explained the situation but, I believe it was the supervisor that told me I couldn’t bring it back, I don’t know what he expected me to do since I couldn’t bring her back home. I wasn’t going to just let her go in a random place, which I told him. She He, apparently didn’t care and insisted I take the cat away in a bullying manner, and I then just left, Shortly afterwards, I received a letter in the mail that told me a court date had been scheduled because I was being cited for inhumane treatment of an animal with a fine of $280. I went and requested a trial before a judge but didn’t request a jury because of the waste of time and money,During the hearing, the representative of the shelter, after being asked to be more specific of the charge, said I didn’t follow the protocol that was in place for the return of an animal. Maybe not, but that isn’t inhumane treatment, it would have been inhumane to take the cat and put her in an adverse situation. It was apparently more important to follow protocol than caring about the welfare of the poor animal, My trial date was moved until March and I’m looking forward to my day in court. Know what you’re getting into before adopting, Btw my little runaway returned so there’s a happy ending,

They are very despotic and rude. I adopted my unsterilized cats and when I had the appointment my car broke down they called me threatening that they were going to send me to court and then they said if I don't have time to adopt them. Poor people think they are more than they are.

Got there around 12 to get permit to trap cats the gentleman at the front was very helpful even as he’s just getting clock in ready to go after a couple jokes and small talk I had my permit he also brought out another dog I was interested in everything took less then 20 minutes very good customer service also came here 8 years ago on free adoption day we got there late so every single dog had fortunately been adopted out except one he was labeled with a Red card a dog that was known to be super aggressive towards other animals his name was Cody the employee said he was the only dog they’d ever seen tip over his bowl when he didn’t like the food they were giving we ended up taking him home a very rough 3 year old plott hound/red healer mix he turned out to be one of the strongest smartest loving dogs we’d ever owned the aggression he had shown was due to his bread and the natural instinct of hunting as well as protecting his owner not because he was just a dumb aggressive dog we also introduced a lab into the family about a year after getting him they became best friends until his passing earlier this week he lived a long happy life all the way until the end I want thank the shelter for making it possible

I have to agree with all the Zero star reviews. I watched them turn away three or more stray animals and interrogate multiple folks. Management was looking up stray dogs phone numbers and making jokes about the owners not paying their water bills. Zero heart or compassion for animals or people.

Try to report a hurt dog, and the lady acts like she doesn’t even care. Why work there if you have no feelings whatsoever for these animals! Very frustrating when you try to help a poor innocent animal out and can’t get any help from the animal control!!!

This place is full of what feel like wannabe police officers who have no real authority in there life, so they wanna play big bad officer being interagators to anyone trying to help lost dogs reunite with owners. Even the most basic questions are filled with petty comments and accusations. Anything they could do to not take a dog in or help in identifying an owner seemed to be there main priority. Even the most simple things such as understanding how to read a map seemed difficult for these people. Eastfield college is in Mesquite you pathetic incompetent waste of space. We went to this place hoping for help and guidance for these lost dogs and you made us feel wrong for even trying to help. I implore who ever reads this do not do business with this shelter it is a for profit facility that does not care about animals the facility was disgusting and you could visibly see animals sitting in squalor while employees are sitting around on there phones.

I’d give 0 if I could. These people will do anything to get out of saving dogs that were found down the street. Which is insane considering the profession they chose. Don’t waste your money here supporting people that “claim” they care about animals well being.

If I could do negative stars I would give them -5, we try to be a good people we found a dog( we couldn't keep it we have 2 already) worst personal ever, they treat you like you did something wrong instead of helping, rudest comment ever " if you like to pick up dogs from the street we are hiring" are freaking serious??If you guys found an animal on the streets ever bring it to this shelter...!!!!

The folks who run this place ought to be ashamed of themselves. The dogs sit in their own excrement and obviously aren’t taken out enough. Although the dogs here clearly need help, I will be giving my business to a shelter that treats the dogs right. Shameful.

Brought in 2 stray dogs after they’ve just been sitting in front of our lawn for 2 days scavenging the trash we left for the garbage men, we couldn’t take the trash out since the dogs would push over the bin and eat out of it. I have 2 dogs, a Shih Tzu and a Maltese Poodle. I don’t leave my dogs outside because of how hot this weather can get. Seeing these 2 dogs being in the sun all day, digging in the trash, panting from dehydration hurt me. I called the shelter and told me to bring them. I take them in and right off the bat they had a bad attitude. I finished filling out the form that they hand out and i had to waive at the lady that i finished, she looked at me, ignored me and continued to talk with the other employee. Y’all really irritated me with me that. Look if y’all really need to take an animal to a shelter don’t take them here. The employees are rude and give you an attitude. Except the guy that was in the front desk with glasses he seem cool. But if thats how they treat the people that bring in animals, it just reflects how these animals will also get treated. Little attention and with a negative attitude. SmhP.S. i read these negative reviews and believed maybe it was a misunderstanding but after experiencing that today i see why this place has such low reviews.Edit: I saw the dogs found a home and i was glad they did. For the small 10 minute trip that i had them for to the shelter they were really loving dogs and friendly.
