I am so happy to highly recommend Smarty Paws! Val is clearly experienced, has an intuitive way with dogs and knows exactly how to motivate good behaviors with positive reinforcement. Her training sessions are organized and fun for both doggy parents and the dog - my pup absolutely adores her. She patiently listened to my concerns and incorporated specific training for addressing them. Willie learned so much including: sit/stay, go to his bed and wait, not pull on the leash and is way less leash reactive after only 5 sessions. Most importantly I learned how to manage Willie’s intense energy and how to redirect him to positive behavior. Smarty Paws’ prices are extremely reasonable and they come to your home so you can train in your dog’s environment and deal with their triggers real time. Huge thanks to Smarty Paws for starting us off on the right “paw” and giving us the confidence we needed to have a great life together. Best money you’ll ever spend.

i needed help with my 3yo shepherd/husky mix to be more responsive, to have better manners and recall. i ultimately decided on getting trainings with valerie, after many calls with other trainers, i still remember my first call with her. she stood out so much and i couldn’t consider any other trainer at that point. she was beyond helpful and really took time to listen and gave me so much info before we even set up our first session! shes extremely knowledgable and it’s been such a pleasure having her. she’s not judgemental at all, shes patient, her training is effective, and always sets us up for success. so glad to have stumbled upon her business and highly recommend anybody considering training to book with smartypaws. i cannot say enough good things, im extremely happy with my decision. would give a million stars if i could !

I would highly recommend Smarty Paws trainer, Valerie. She worked with our little Allie the first few weeks after she arrived in our home and is continuing training with us. She made the transition so much easier for Allie and for us! She helped us understand the puppy stages, what toys and equipment we needed to make it easier on everyone. Allie loves her and she even looks for her when she hears her voice when I review the training videos. Allie is only 13 weeks but is very well behaved and happy. I contribute it to Valerie!

Smarty Paws Dog Training is the best! It is so evident that Valerie loves the dogs she trains using positive reinforcement and consistent care. Our puppy Bindi loved the sessions with her as Valerie trained both her and us. She equipped us to continue with what Bindi has learned. Thank you Valerie and Smarty Paws!

Awesome and consistent training. My new pup went through the Paw Camp training and I am extremely happy with the results. After the Paw Camp training, my 11 week old puppy is confident, calm (still with playful loving puppy energy), responsive, and so easy to manage. I highly recommend Valerie’s services.
