The portion of the park that was open was nice, but I was very disappointed to find that the riverfront portion of the park is still closed due to flood damage that occurred from 2015 through 2017. I find it pathetic that they don't at least allow hiking in the area.Playground: They have a couple of nice playgrounds for the little tots.Restrooms: The restrooms were well maintained, clean, and stocked with TP.Dog-friendliness: Dogs on leashes are welcome. They have waste bags and containers for your use.Picnic area: They have picnic tables and benches.

This is truly an amazing place to visit. The campsites are better than Disney's Fort Widerness and cleaner bathrooms than Buc-ee'sDog-friendliness: A picture is worth a thousand words

We love going to the different state parks here in Texas and were blown away out how wonderful this little park is. The staff called ahead to check us in and make sure we knew how to get in and where to go since we were arriving after dark. The campsites are meticulously maintained and so roomy. We had no trouble at all backing our camper in. The trails are gorgeous and so easily accessible. It is truly a hidden gem and we will definitely be back!

This definitely a very nice state park with plenty of shades while walking the trails! They offer some nice sites to see. The bathrooms are definitely nice with windows and a fan to help keep it somewhat cool in the heat. I recommend this state park and will be back.

Definitely one of our favorite state parks to go camping in. The new RV spots are excellent, the trails are great, and the staff is awesome!

What a gorgeous state park in the late spring! All the wildflowers were blooming and we saw deer, caterpillars, a local cat and a skunk. We tent camped next to an RV and there was a nice gravel area, metal table and fire pit at each spot. Multiple short hikes & two playgrounds (one natural and one for slightly older kids based on swing & slide size). Clean restrooms and a quiet, serene setting.

This was a nice park. Great trails and great history. It's always fun walking around somewhere as important as the first State Park in Texas.I definitely recommend spending some time to explore the trails here.

Off the path feel! Full of history and rock formation designs everywhere. Stumbled across a rat snake clinging to the ceiling wall...lol probable hiding spot from the predator birds we saw on the trail, as well. Renovations from flood damage and new additions can't come soon enough. We are ready to return.

Well maintained trails that are very family friendly! The visitor center has several excellent exhibits and had crafts for the kids. The park ranger also showed them different pelts from animals found in the park. Rest rooms extremely clean.

My husband I love visiting state parks. This makes 15 we've visited (it would be more, but we also have revisited some a few times. This park is nice! The facilities were newer and well maintained, the staff was so nice, and the trails were super well marked.Only down side was that drought has dried up all the water features. I guess it's just a good excuse to come back.
