This company has many locations in South Texas. I am reviewing how stressful it is to deal with them apart from their work. They wouldn't follow through on a contract even after being given more than $30,000. They also wouldn't give back the money. It is expensive (court and attorney's fees), stressful, and takes a long time to get money back, so we gave them the benefit of the doubt and signed another contract with them for less expensive work. They did the work and then received the dollar amount stated in the contract. They then started pursuing the insurance company for more money. Both contracts had language in them that would allow the roofing company to seek a "supplement" etc. to any money already paid them by us from the insurance company. The problem was they were submitting estimates for work that they didn't do and work that was more expensive than the work they actual did. When we discovered this, a lawyer had to be hired. You have to be careful not to go along with anything that tends to mislead your insurance company. You should consult an attorney like we did and get legal advice so that you don't get in legal trouble yourself. We did the right thing and made sure our insurance company knew exactly what was being done. This cost $$ and was an unexpected cost in dealing with the roofers. After we settled with the insurance company, the roofers want all our insurance settlement despite already receiving more $ than the original estimate for the work they actually did. When we asked the roofers if the insurance had paid for our damaged air conditioners, they said no. When we asked the insurance adjuster, she showed us the estimates submitted by the roofers which included the air conditioners. The roofing company has now filed a lien on our property. The lien on our property was not their first or last-check Webb County records. The lawyers who helped the company file the lien have a website that says: "The Construction lawyers at (attorneys) can effectively employ the tricks and secrets discussed in this website as a means to enforcing payment." These are the same lawyers representing them in lawsuits. You can see how complicated, expensive, stressful, and tiresome having hired this roofing company to do our work has been. We hired these roofers because of their great reviews. After getting to know their names, we have discovered that the owners and some employees of the company have given themselves 5 star reviews on google (I have screen shots). Also forget the BBB, if you really want information on issues with this roofing company, check out the lawsuits (past and present) in Laredo, Hidalgo County, Cameron County. Long story short, it is stressful and could be expensive (in addition to the actual construction work) dealing with this roofing company.

UPDATE 12/5/19: I received a text message from Mcallen Valley Roofing that I would be called by the owner, Brian McSteen about a week ago. He never called. He did message me on Facebook and I replied to him, but he never wrote back. After waiting a week, I called him. He insinuated I had no right to talk to a business owner. He then stated that he would not fulfill his part of the contract (even though I had already paid him) unless my online review was removed. He said, and I quote, "I won the Better Business Bureau Ethics Award." The Better Business Bureau expressly forbids it's business members from demanding removal of an online review in order to complete agreed-upon work. I have a recording of this implausible unethical conversation should anyone want to hear it, as well as screenshots of the texts he sent me, and my original contract. I will post these or links to them, as needed going forward. This company had done thousands of dollars of work on my roof for the previous homeowner within the past year or so, yet he claims he was totally unaware of the condition of my roof, or even how my gutters were attached to it. He said "it is a complex job." Yes, it becomes a very complex job if you ignore the homeowner for almost three months without ordering the gutters he paid for. Ultimately, he left my home damaged by failing to install just 27 feet of gutter, leaving water runoff into unprotected areas. He mentioned he will refund the money I paid him thus far for work already done. The work "already done," has already had to be "redone" at my expense. There are a dozen or more roofing companies in the Mcallen area. Choose wisely.

I couldn't be more satisfied with our new roof from Mcallen Valley Roofing. The estimator arrived on time and was very helpful. When I had a question, I could pick up the phone and call the office - someone was always there to pick up. Getting our roof replaced was not a small project, but I was very comfortable with my decision in hiring this roofing company.

After suspecting we had some roof leaks we contacted Mcallen Valley Roofing and they came out the next day to inspect our roof. They confirmed that we did have roof leaks and gave us the option to patch the leaks or replace the roof. Due to the age of the roof we decided to go with a complete roof replacement. When the work was being done, the crew was always on time and cleaned up each day. We've had no complaints and I am very happy with our new roof.
