Safety: Handicap parking but stairs to climb bout 5 . On main street in very small Beach town. Friendly service. Lots of seating. ??
Walkability: Walk small downtown area and see few shops.
Noteworthy details: Has all you like for food choices. Has great location. And if your staying in Nearby hotel or one of the many rental houses or condos on the water within couple miles.

Rik and Peggy were wonderful hosts at their beautiful “clean” historic landmark home.Rik is hilarious and Peggy is a wonderful cook with her legendary breakfast.There is nothing like peacefully sleeping in one of the 1st official Texas built homes!Matagorda beach is also the cleanest most peaceful beach that I have been to in the United States!

Rick and Peggy went above and beyond our expectations. They were amazing hosts. It was our 20th anniversary and it was special to spend it there. A terrific breakfast on the back porch. The house is a true Texas treasure, a marvel of Texas history. We received a great tour and even got to see the old outhouse. It's awesome that the home is almost 200 years old and looks that immaculate. All that and a five minute drive to the beach. We will return.

Beautiful house with so much history. You can tell the owners cherish the place and I can't wait to go back and hear more about it. Amazing service! I wish I had taken pictures of the beautiful breakfast set up. Not a bad drive to the beach, maybe 10 minutes? We stayed in the bedroom with 1 queen and 2 twin beds and we had a private bathroom with shower. Room was refreshed daily. Highly recommend this place.

The hosts were amazing and very attentive. We stayed in a room that had a queen and two twin sized mattresses. This was perfect for my wife and two kids. We would eat breakfast on a screened in porch. The view was amazing. We will definitely be coming back. The beach was pretty good for the gulf as well. So it was a great package altogether.

What a wonderful place! What wonderful rich history! And so close to the water!
Bring bug spray ! Bring a camera! Bring a learning attitude. The people who keep this place do a wonderful job. They were kind and catered to me and my kids. We enjoyed the space, the rooms, the view, the courtyard, the fruit trees, the coffee. Really everything was quite wonderful. I hope to return again soon!

Peggy and Rick are great hosts. They know all the local places and will guide you in the right direction. Her breakfasts are always amazing. She set us up with a great fishing guide "Marty". Will be coming back in the neae future.
