Dropped my car off at 1:30 for a 2pm appointment for maintenance. Was told it would take bout an hour. Called a little before 4 to check on it and was told they would check and call me back. Called back at 4:40 and was told they had just finished it. When I picked it up I asked was it normal to take this long and was told they had had an issue with another customers vehicle and apologized I use to work at a body shot so I understand things happen. Said they would call me for a price on the license plate I had asked about when I dropped it off but wasn’t written down to check on, and the 2nd key they said they ordered.

We purchased elsewhere because Shapen Toyota switched financing terms on us at the very last minute. The agreed-upon price was suddenly "only available if you finance through us." *
[Edited after Shapen's reply]:
Dear Shapen Toyota, your statement that "We do have policies and procedures in place for reasons sometimes customers do not understand" implies that it's somehow my poor little brain that can't understand how to buy a car! Utterly galling.
Our sequence of events at Shapen Toyota:
1) We found the car we wanted online, mileage confirmed with the dealer via phone, price confirmed as well
2) 3hr drive to Shapen first thing next morning
3) Test drove the car, confirmed the same price, and we say yes, we'll buy it.
4) The salesman who plays guitar for his church states, "That price is only good if you use our financing." [How Godly]
5) We explained we had financing through Navy Federal Credit Union, they stuck to their guns about dealer financing, and feeling lied to, we left and purchased from Legacy Toyota of Dallas. What a difference, Legacy Toyota is great!
End of story. You'd have felt lied to and left, as well.

I can only tell you my experience, and hope your car buying process goes smoothly if you're a customer.
tl;dr Things got off to a good start, but a last-minute switcheroo to the financing terms meant we walked out empty-handed. We purchased elsewhere mere hours later.
Take a beat, and notice again that I said, "[L]ast-minute switcheroo to the financing." That's really all you need to know.
It's a long story, and we ended up feeling disrespected because we had driven 3 hours one-way, to buy a specific car from Shapen Toyota. It's one thing when a disreputable local dealer pulls the rug out from under you, but another thing entirely when you've just made a last-minute mini road trip to get to the dealership in question.
At the last minute, Shapen Toyota put a new condition on the sale of a new car we were ready to buy, "You have to use our financing." When we presented the check from our Federal Credit Union, Shapen demanded we instead wire them the funds directly. When we asked why we were now having to pay cash, they told us they didn't trust our check because we were from out of town. No kidding! You knew this yesterday before you coordinated with us to set up an appointment for today. ?
* It's 100% COMPLETELY LEGAL in Texas for a dealership to demand you use their financing, by the way. Texas Senate Bill 1464 (TX SB 1464)--which would have made this illegal in Texas--died in committee in late 2023 in the 88th legislature. Guess which special interest lobbying group argued against it?!
