“The VFW was a fantastic and affordable venue to host our family event, Sweet 16. The auditorium comfortably held 150 people with a stage for the DJ and enough space for food buffets and dancing. We very much appreciated their accommodations!”

“Truly an experience one will remember for life! Austin has such an amazing bike network I never realized only until I was guided by the professionals from BikeTexas using their top-of-the-line e-bikes. I admit, I was intimidated by e-bikes because I never used one before, but it was so easy! I can't believe I never tried it before. I really recommend anyone looking for a memorable group experience to try this bike tour!”
“Around a month ago, I was sojourning in Austin for the purpose of viewing the celestial phenomenon: the Total Solar Eclipse. I was looking for a YMCA to exercise at since I am a member of one back home, but unfortunately, my “home” YMCA recently joined the chain and thus doesn’t have its nationwide portal properly configured yet. However, despite my failed entry attempts, Townlake YMCA staff were very cordial and understanding of my issue. Instead of directing me to purchase a one day pass, staff allowed me to enter completely free of charge—on multiple occasions.Heightening my satisfaction with this particular Y was the fact that its surroundings are absolutely prepossessing and that it is situated in a very convenient location: it is practically right on the Colorado River and on the outskirts of downtown. In addition, the facility is one of the best I’ve ever witnessed, boasting new equipment and a fun-to-navigate layout.I will definitely be returning next time I visit Austin; though, I am not sure if I will do so anytime soon, considering the city’s growing homeless and crime problems…At any rate, this gymnasium thoroughly impressed me and significantly enhanced my experience in Austin.”
“Fabulous shows! I highly recommend & support the free productions put on here. Come early, bring a picnic & if you bring tall chairs, be courteous & sit in the back. There's nothing ruder than sitting your kids in the grass with an amazing view while people squeeze in late & setup their large, bulky chairs in front of your small children.”
“My boy Deyron recommended this place. Fabulous gals and Mia recommended a fantastic pizza place nearby
Neat stuff inside, even had a large Talk to Me hand (ahhhh)
Whether you’re going to Eucharistic chapel at San Jose or getting a drank at Black Sheep Lodge nearby, be sure to stop by this gem ?
? She want the Talmud!
So happy to help pets in need as well”

“I was fortunate to be able to attend the Dress for Success in Austin with other fellow veterans. What a wonderful experience for us all to be pampered (hair, makeup, business clothing, etc…) by their staff. We were honored to be able to attend and listen to their success stories. Great opportunity for us to network and bridge friendships!”
“Creekshow is one of the many reasons I love loving in Austin. A free art show in a tiny treasure of a park downtown. Come support a beautiful park and wonderful art installations.”

“This organization does sooooo much for our community! From organizing the abity to use food stamps at Farmers Markets to assisting farmers to get their farms certified organic.”
“If not for this organization a lot of us aged and disabled at home would be almost forgotten. It's so nice to be visited each day with a smile, freshly made food and fruit and plenty of great attitude from the volunteers who came no matter what the weather did just about. Plus they provide food and toys for my companion therapy cats, as well as litter every two weeks, as a matter of fact I was just visited by the volunteer. Today's healthy meal is hot and delicious ? it's chicken marsala sweet potatoes and a nice carton of milk a huge piece of Texas toast and green beans. Plus homemade applesauce. I enjoyed it all. And I'm so happy in my tummy! Ty to all the folks who haven't forsaked the elderly! We ran the world pretty darn well up till now!!!! Lol ty very much for the whole organization!!”
“TL;DR: If you love books or love attending lectures and speaker panels, you should attend this free festival!TBF is an event that I look forward to each year. I grew up in Austin, but somehow didn't find out about TBF until 2017! The festival was started in 1996 by Laura Bush and Mary Margaret Farabee. The best way to describe it is ACL for book lovers. Unlike ACL, this festival is free! A few of the keynote speaker panels have an admission fee (which includes an autographed book). Tickets for the keynote panels typically go on sale about a month or so before the festival. With the exception of the key note speakers, the rest of the festival is free (even parking if you get there early enough). The festival is held downtown. Some of the lectures take place in large tents near the Capital, some are held in churches nearby, and many of the smaller sessions are held inside the extension rooms in the Capital. They have food trucks in two designated areas. Additionally, there are restaurants and cafés along Congress Ave. that you can eat at too. If you're willing to walk, there's many restaurants in the vicinity since it's right in the middle of downtown. I've had the opportunity to see big names like Malcolm Gladwell and John Grisham as well as up and coming authors. They have a myriad of speaker sessions. Whether you're into YA, history, biographies, cooking, social justice, etc., there's a session for you. They even have kids programs so the whole family can enjoy the festival. I personally love the C-SPAN tent which focuses on a lot of social justice issues. The C-SPAN tent broadcasts the sessions live on C-SPAN 2 (and probably online) so you can watch it at home if you aren't able to make it in person. I was very happy to see that the festival would be back in person this year! During the pandemic, they did a virtual festival. One thing I liked about the virtual fest was that they recorded all of the sessions and left them online for a month so it allowed for more time to go back and watch/listen to other panelists that I may have missed. TBF 2022 was good, but not as good as previous years. I wasn't impressed with the keynote speaker line up. The authors that I enjoyed this year were Michael Fanone, Gabriel Denbenedetti, Julissa Arce, Taja Issen, and Danielle Prescod. The layout of the tents were a little different this year. They were positioned closer together on fewer streets. It was sometimes distracting because of the noise from golf carts and all of the people walking by. I didn't like how the vendor tents were set up. It was one giant walkway that went through each tent. There were not many entry/exit points so it felt claustrophobic. I did like the Book People Tent and the autograph tent, but was disappointed that Book People didn't have a larger inventory of books. I also wasn't able to find a discounted book tent. Perhaps I missed it. The TBF merch tent sold out of items very quickly but I was able to get a t-shirt.In past years, I have literally left the festival with a (free) tote bag full of books. This year, I only bought 3 (it would have been 4, but one of the books I wanted was sold out). It was awesome to have the festival back in person and hopefully they'll make some improvements for next year.”

1011 San Jacinto Blvd STE 500, Austin“I had a wonderful experience with BCL. Their team was extremely knowledgeable about the homebuying process and was able to help me better understand every step of the way. They helped me prioritize the tasks that were truly important, and their guidance was invaluable. Thanks to their support, I was able to feel confident in my decisions and I'm now in the process of finding the perfect home for me. I would highly recommend BCL to anyone who is looking to buy a home.”

6510 S Congress Ave, Austin“Great place for furniture and lamps. Everything looks well taken care of and clean. The clothes is sorted by color and I personally didn’t like that because I am use to goodwill sorting by size. Other than that seems like a nice place.”
10:00 AM - 2:00 PM
101 Westlake Dr Suite 210, Austin“The Goodwill located on Brodie Lane is by far one of the best Goodwill stores in the greater Austin area. I always find the coolest treasures in this store! Unlike some of the other locations who choose to price all items at a higher level (for no good reason at all), the Brodie Lane Goodwill has set their prices at very reasonable rates. Although the drive from my house to this location is almost an hour, I will happily continue to shop at this location over most of the other locations around Austin.Y'all keep up the AMAZING work! This store's management team as well as the store employees are absolutely fantastic! 10 out of 10 (in my opinion)!”
