Our teenager is taking western lessons. She loves it. Staff is great. I like that students groom the horse before the lesson and learn to tack them.

Horrible experience, totally after money. Novice riders with experienced riders that never get to progress.

I just finished my four-lesson package at Bear Creek Equestrian Center and I feel compelled to leave an honest review. My experience is with the Western Intermediate Class. Even though they are group lessons they have the personalized feel of private lessons.. The instructor Shae pays attention to each student’s needs individually. Shae herself is extremely experienced and knowledgeable in Western riding techniques and equitation. I appreciated the fact that she paired each horse with the individual rider’s skills and abilities. The lesson horses here are fantastic. I got to ride a different horse per lesson and each horse was responsive yet gentle. The horses are in great condition, very healthy and happy and seem genuinely eager to do their job.The two lesson arenas are well-maintained, clean, and safe. The tack room is super organized, each horse has their own tack and equipment and everything is labelled with their name.If you or your child are interested in learning horseback riding, or just want to improve what you already know, I highly recommend Bear Creek Equestrian Center.

While I am not one to ever give bad reviews, my experience here was so disheartening I feel like I have to share. We signed up for four lessons and paid in full and did not get to go to one lesson. After they changed the initial day on us, I told them prior to the first lesson starting that day/time would no longer work for us and they refused to give us any money back or reschedule. So we paid $275 for four lessons and we received zero instruction, zero flexibility and zero remorse. I understand it is about business, but it's also about customer service and people - and that is what I am rating here. I was really hopeful that I had found a good lesson program but unfortunately we won't get a chance to find out because I would never give them anymore of my money.

I boarded my horse out at Bear Creek for about 5 months. he lost a lot of weight, i would take him out for the day and take him back to the barn after dinner feeding (which was at 3:30pm) and they would not leave dinner for him. I paid for him to have extra flake of alfalfa at dinner and they only gave him the scraps out of the gator. I heard them tell their trainee that "that horse is a pony and doesn't need a lot of food" as my horse had a heavy workload and dropped weight instantly. I began going out everyday to supplement with my own hay.

Bear Creek was amazing! The instructors were amazing and explained very well how to treat, ride, and communicate with the horses. The horses was so mystical and magical, we even got to feed our horses an apple (we brought our own fruit), brush their hair, and just connect before we rode. We had the amazing opportunity of partnering with the stables for our holiday gift exchange and we are so thankful! Hope to work with them again!

My daughter has been going to Bear Creek for the past two and a half months. Online, the lessons state they are from 5-7, which was explained that they really end at 6:30. The last couple of lessons were getting a late start, which I understand 5 or 10 minutes waiting for some stragglers. However, when they consistently start late AND end before 6:30, then I have a problem. Our last lesson, they didn’t get started until 5:20 AND they were already coming back to the barn at 6:17, that’s not even an hour. When I say started, I mean they didn’t even walk to the barn to get the horses until 5:20. Keep in mind there is grooming, & saddling before they actually get riding time. That evening they may have spent 30 minutes riding and that’s being generous. This scenario has happened at least three times and by the third time I had enough.I messaged the owner right after our Mondays lesson to see if we could reach a solution and to tell her that my daughter’s ankles were in so much pain (she was literally screaming) from kicking the horse, she didn’t call me back until Friday. I told her I messaged her on Monday and she said that due to the nature of the business, they are really busy. She hung up on me after I told her that was unacceptable and it sounds like they don’t respect anyone’s time. We’ve already had another lesson somewhere else and I cannot believe the difference in the communication, respect, cleanliness, quality of the horses, and quality of the trainers.Miriam, I highly suggest you look inward and try to have tough conversations with dissatisfied customers, because your barn clearly needs the business. Also, I don’t find it appropriate that a the trainer’s helper spends the majority of the time with the children. She does a wonderful job, that much I can say.Full transparency, I thought the day was Friday, but apparently I was wrong, it’s Thursday. Still, if I message you on Monday at 6:27 to be precise, Thursday is still unacceptable to me.Additionally, I still have two lessons I have paid for, and being hung up on and blocked is unacceptable.

WASTE OF MONEY!!! They didn’t TEACH anything and the “trainer” (Maybe 18-21yr old girl) told my 9yr old unexperienced, Type1 diabetic daughter (who’s sugar read 57 at the time) to “USE HER BRAIN.” when she was confused and asked for help!!!! I would never recommend this place to anyone.

God I love horses so much. Majestic creatures, just like Miriam. The beacon of my life, the moon to my stars, the ebony to my ivory. God I love horses.

i rode horses here for about 3 months. The place is old and seems to be falling apart, not even to mention the amount of dust you inhale from the unkept arenas with bad footing. From what I had seen, the community there is unenjoyable and gives off an unwelcoming feeling. There is a dog that runs around there, im assuming lives there however i’m not sure. That chases the horses and kids that are there. None of the staff seem to have any care for the havoc this dog is causing. During the lessons, the horses are sweet and have good manners, however it is unlikely you will progress much at this barn in lessons. With kids basically running the place, you don’t get much one on one teaching or acknowledgement. Even though it’s a group lesson and not a private lesson, you would expect to be “taught” more, especially being at a lower level. I would highly not recommend this place, for horses, or people.

I’m a 35 yrs old who has ridden horses on and off for years. I recently switched to Bear Creek after an injury at another barn. I was looking for a more experienced instruction. Bear Creak has at least 10-12 different horses at different levels, depending on your level. They teach both English and Western.Unlike some barns that let you do whatever, Mariam makes sure you understand the basics before putting you on a more experienced horse. I also appreciate having adult riding lessons for those who take their lesson time more seriously.Sometimes you may get a different trainer which gives riders opportunities to learn from different instructors styles. The tack room is very organized. Each saddle has a pad, girth, and saddle rack with labels for the appropriate horse and their bridal. Each horse also has their own tack box labeled with their name and equipment. Fly masks, halter and lead rope and also provided for each horse. There’s an covered area and outdoor arena. From my understanding there has been some ownership changes and new instructors brought it. Compared to other bars I find this place very clean and the equipment well maintained. Yes, there’s dust, it’s barn.Overall I’m very pleased I found this lovely barn and these lovely people.

Do NOT recommend. The owners daughter attempted to threaten/intimidate me. Comical at best. I moved my horse before further confrontation could happen. Sad to say Miriam is still involved in the program. STEAR CLEAR.
