I wish I can give Bill zero starts. He came to my home mid-July and told me that my pool system is compromised and we need to change the whole plumbing (even though all plumbing is less than 3 years old) and he said I have heat because O-rings leak. He charged me $159 to change 4 O-rings. Immediately after he left, they continued to leak, I kept calling him and the office but was told he is out of town and would call me in 10 days. He never called. I had to hits another company, they charged me $60 and changed all four O-rings and emailed me an invoice and an email indicating that those O-rings were leaking still and cause the system to heat up. I texted Bill asked for a refund and he said NO and the reason is that my system is compromised and old. It has been 2 full months since the other company changed the O-rings with NO issues.
If you want to save your money and your pool system and not run into scams, stay away from Bill and his company. Very dishonest

I had a great experience at Pinch A Penny, thanks to Andrew. He was incredibly knowledgeable and helpful, going out of his way to ensure I found everything I needed. The rest of the team, Kyle, Austin, and Christine, were also friendly and welcoming. Highly recommend this location for all your pool needs!

Poor filter cleaning service!
I'm tired of giving them numerous opportunities to do the right this.
If you can get them to even show up, highly unlikely.
The original filter clean appointment with Andrew, no show. Then next day, he was supposed to be here early sfternoon.
But then called me at 4:45 that he was close, but stuck behind a train stopped on track.
I told him how to easily go around, he said okay.
Then 35 minutes later he was still sitting in car waiting for train.
Then he said it was after 5 and that was his quitting time.
Totally irresponsibity, dishonest, unreliable!
Don't waste your time with this store!!

Lousy pool service, the guy kicked my dog and then stole a pool floaty. That was my 8yo’s favorite pool floaty too.

My first time to visit Pinch a Penny. The employees engaged me immediately after entering the store and directed me exactly what I needed.

Low cost provider of pool services with the lowest level of service. Perfect example of getting what you pay for including piss poor cleanings and customer service. After eight years of being a customer and with only one phone call to complain EVER, they told me that I was being put on the cancelled service list. Really???... for the better certainly. I will pay more elsewhere but couldn't be happier to spend the extra money to not rely on these clowns! On another note, the company cannot retain staff and those who make it more than a week, frequently complain about their job during cleanings. Trust me.... pay a little more elsewhere and be much happier!

They cleaned my pool well and got my pump/filter back up and running after it unexpectedly went out. I signed up for monthly cleaning, then received a $365 charge for getting the pump going and chemicals etc..with an invoice. $90 charge with no invoice or anything, I called and was told it was a pro-rated amount for a week of cleaning/chemicals. Then we got a monthly charge so my wife called just to get an explanation and make sure we're on the same page, and that we know what we're paying for. Wife asked for an explanation, the girl basically said its for cleaning the pool - so my wife asked how can she be sure what the charges are for without even asking our name/address or looking us up. The girl said she did not like my wifes tone and literally hung up on her. Wife calls back frustrated naturally and spoke with Chad, when she mentioned how rude the first girl was who hung up on her, he was dismissive and rude as well, then just passed the phone off to a guy named Bob without even saying anything. Bob gets on and just asks my wife whats her issue and went into a rant about rates and taxes, when my wife was first trying to address the original girl hanging up on her. Bob was unhelpful as well and had an attitude. I called later myself to cancel our service and Bob had a rough attitude with me - told me it was cancelled already and how my wife caused a big disturbance with his employees, as if they can't handle a concerned customer. He then tells me "you gotta deal with that" referring to my wife's supposed attitude and went into a rant about how everyone pays taxes on everything except for milk blah blah. We're not dumb, we know how taxes work.
We just wanted clarity on our bill after being charged a $365 fee, then $90 pro-rate then another $247.89 when the monthly rate was $229...we wanted to make sure we understood completely because it's our $$. Even for the 1st $365 fee, I kept asking the guy while he was at my house to fix the pump issue "how much is this going to cost me" and he was not clear, just said "not much, you need a few $10 this and a few $20 that" etc...and then when we were billed it was $365. I didn't like that because the guy was not upfront about the costs and avoided answering me directly when I asked, but I was happy with the service so I paid it. After the $90 pro rate and $247 a week later, we HAD to call to know what was going on. They do not like being questioned about the money. It's just shut up and pay, plus they kept our card on file and billed it so we were at their mercy. They treated my wife very badly under the circumstances and were rude to me when I followed up. Terrible customer service and nasty attitudes.

Stay away from this place. Our pool heater stopped working. They came out and said rats had chewed through all the wiring and the heater need to be replaced. Gave me an estimate of about $5000.Called another pool company. He showed me that wiring was fine but needed a circuit board replaced. $700 later and heater works fine.

We have been using Pinch a Penny for weekly pool service for a year now and the water has never looked better. No more green water one week and blue the next and back to green. We are actually saving money on chemicals with weekly service. Very happy with this company.

These guys really know their stuff!I go out of my way (30 min both ways) to do my water tests here, because of the expertise of all of their employees, which exceeds other pool stores and even other Pinch a Penny's in the area. I've been everywhere, and for a while I really tried to find a store I can trust this much closer to me that is this good. They take the time to walk me through all of the complicated chemical requirements of the 2 spas and a pool i manage, and speak straight forwardly about what's worth it and what isn't when it comes to replacing parts for my pool vacuum.Andrew in Particular has the experience and experize to diagnose, repair, and advise on mechanical parts and get me out the door in 15 minutes.Christine is always there with a familiar smile to perform and advise on water tests and spa chemicals, remembering me and my spas and pools from previous weeks in order to answer complicated questions on how to proceed.Daniel, who also has on the job practical experience with pool maintenance can separate the signal from the noise when it comes to pool chemicals. This is the place to go for attentive, experienced and personable professionals who do their best to save you time and money, even if that comes with a little extra drive time.

In addressing concerns with my pool pump recently, I encountered Nicholas, who, regrettably, displayed a notable arrogance. Despite my specific need for a "capacitor" replacement, Nicholas insisted on an unnecessary pump upgrade.Thankfully the subsequent day brought a more positive experience, as Bill and Daniel not only efficiently diagnosed the issue, but also demonstrated an exceptional level of professionalism. Their expertise pinpointed a malfunctioning capacitor as the true culprit, showcasing their dedication to both their craft and customer satisfaction. This narrative serves as a reminder of the importance of vigilance against potentially deceptive offers, emphasizing the significance of informed decision's.
