I own a 2010 Prius and in the last few years I've noticed the hybrid battery capacity has been slowly going down. Recently I've gotten a P0A80 Code and knew that it was time to replace the hybrid battery. Checking with my dealer, I found that it was going to cost me around $3,800 for a new battery. At that price, I decided to do a little research and see if I could find a cheaper alternative solution. After researching several companies, I found hometown hybrids. I'm a retired engineer and I knew that I wanted a factory new battery and not a rebuilt and after speaking with Jessica and Miguel I knew this was the company I wanted to do business with. I was able to schedule an appointment within a couple of days and Miguel drove up and installed the brand new battery in less than an hour! I could tell that Miguel was a good technician and not just a mechanic. My 14-year-old Prius is now driving like it was brand new and I'm back to getting over 50mpg. I saved $1,000 by having Home Town Hybrid replace the battery instead of the dealership. I would highly recommend this company to anyone needing maintenance services for your hybrid!

Hands down, I 100% recommend Hometown Hybrids. Hometown Hybrids quickly responded to all my messages and gave me clear, concise answers the first day I contacted them. They were able to set me up an appointment the day I messaged, and they sent someone out the next day. I got my car fixed on the day of my appointment, and I haven’t had any issues since. John was absolutely fantastic and very helpful. He knew the answers to our questions and was very kind and efficient. As a college student, it was nice to have such efficient people respond and fix my car so fast. It meant a lot to me that they gave such excellent customer service, and I appreciate their efficiency. I was able to use my car to go to class the next day, and I couldn’t be more thankful! Thank you so much to Hometown Hybrids and John! I 100% recommend this company, and I will be coming here from now on.

Miguel installed our new hybrid battery today in no time. He was super friendly and receptive to questions. If the battery is as great as the service we should be in good shape! ☺️

Hi Jessica, just wanted to take a brief moment to let you know how the battery installation process went on August 13, 2023. The installer was very professional and courteous. Answered all my questions the whole process went way better than I expected. The car is performing fine and I just hope it lasts much longer than the warranty. Thanks so much for taking care of this.Ken2012 Toyota PriusService: Auto battery replacement

Like many reviews, Hometown Hybrids has a new happy customer. I'll try to be brief, but I want to tell the whole story.07/27-Red triangle, VCS and brake system warning lights, won't ready on and had to reset to start every time.07/28-12v battery changed, warning lights still coming on.08/01-Went to Ricks' Auto in Dallas since he said he was a Prius specialist.08/02-Rick says it is a module problem, car will be ready in the afternoon. Went to pick up the car, wasn't ready and apparently car was with another shop.08/03-Rick now says it is the battery, said it will cost $4,800, charged me $300 for diagnostic when I wanted a second opinion. This is his way of "taking care" of me, by charging more than the dealer.08/03-picked up car, called and went to Greentec Hybrids in Garland, TX, 30 minutes away, but lights didn't come on so went back to work since they said they can’t do anything.08/04-lights came on, went to Greentec Hybrids. Manager Bryan said it was the inverter, not battery, and it will take about an hour to put in another inverter. Waited over 2 1/2 hours, paid and then Bryan said the warning lights came back on. Problem is not battery or inverter, Bryan says it must be the transmission. Waited another 1 1/2 hours to get the old inverter put back in and reverse the charge.08/08-Toyota dealer said battery is bad with code P0AA6, 526, 612. Called Bryan at Greentec, scheduled to have battery changed on 08/11 at 2 pm.08/09-called Hometown Hybrid to see how their system works, but I decided on Greentec because Greentec has a shop in town. Besides, I felt bad that Greentec spent 4 1/2 hours last time so I wanted to give them a second shot.08/10-called Greentec Bryan to confirm schedule on 8/11 at 2 pm. Bryan said everything is good to go, they will take about 40 minutes to change out the battery.08/11-went to Greentec 30-minutes early just to be sure. Bryan then said he didn't have my battery, even though I confirmed the day before. I asked why he didn't call me before I drove 30 minutes, and he said mistakes happen, he didn't have the battery, not enough tech, and didn't want to talk about his mistakes but about compensating me.I asked what compensation, and he said getting me my battery that I have to pay for is my compensation. Lost for words. He then said it was going to take about an hour to rebuild and replace and wanted to know if I had extra time just in case. I asked exactly how long since last time I waited 4 and 1/2 hour, he couldn't tell me how long, and basically wanted me to say I don't have time.I left the shop, called Greentec 1-800 number, talked to sales rep, Ian, who I spoke to about the battery purchase order. Ian put me on hold, came back about 15 minutes later to tell me that the shop doesn't have tech to rebuild my battery. So, even if I had waited, I wouldn't have gotten my battery. They asked if I can come back the next day, Saturday, and they will rebuild and change my battery.Didn't want to take a chance with the guy who confirmed my appointment the day before, that he can rebuild and replace my battery in 1 hour, but then told the sales rep that they didn't have a tech to rebuild my battery.Called Hometown Hybrid, asked Jessica if they are still able to change my battery on 08/14 and she said yes.08/14-Mike showed up on time, determined the battery is bad, showed me which cells were leaking and put in a refurbished one in about 40 minutes as we talked. Cleared the code and so far the car is working fine for the last four days.Mike is very knowledgeable, very friendly, and even showed that he just serviced a vehicle under warranty. Keeping their promise on warranties was more important than getting a new customer. What a concept. What more can I say about Hometown Hybrid? They stand behind their work, and I am so glad I found an honest, reliable mechanic for my Prius. So, again, thanks Jessica and Mike for great service, great conversation and a quick battery replacement. Thanks for being affordable, reasonable a

About a month and a half ago I got the dreaded P0A80 on the original hybrid battery for my 2005 Prius. I've known about Hometown Hybrids for a while due to their activity and great reputation on the Prius Chat forums, so when the battery died I immediately gave them a call and they got me set up with a replacement refurbished battery for $995. Both Jessica and Mike were highly knowledgeable and willing to give any advice on issues not even related to the hybrid battery. Mike got the replacement completed in about an hour and then insisted that I contact him with any further questions, which I appreciate. The car has been running great ever since, and I can't recommend Hometown Hybrids enough. Plus, at a price that's less than 2 monthly payments on a new car, the refurbished pack has nearly paid for itself already.

As a cranky always complaining nit picking old man (you can ask my wife to verify)I finally found a company that earns your business. This comes from 5 years of doing business with Hometown Hybrids. As an engineer I expect quality service and knowledge. Hometown Hybrids supplied that and more. They treated me like family, with compassion and respect. The hybrid battery replacement was done in my drive in under 45 minutes. The Tech for Hometown Hybrids, Mike explained if I have any problems with my Prius I could call. My Prius developed a problem without a check engine light. I went to Clear Choice Lexus. They had the Prius 2 days and said it was a transmission failure go to the dealer and they gave me a slight discount on the $179 fee. So I went to Gullo Toyota,5 days latter I picked up the Prius and was told they had no idea what was wrong but it wasn’t the transmission, but they would contact Toyota engineering and call me. I will say Gullo did not complain when I told them I will not pay for a diagnostic fee. Gullo never called so I went to Hass Toyota. The manager was professional and had her Hybrid mechanic test drive. He pointed at testing for compression and head gasket failure starting at $350 to diagnose and anywhere from $4000-$9500 to repair. So before I junked the Prius I called Hometown Hybrids and talked with Mike. He said he would come over to my house and look at it. He spent 2 days diagnosing and cleaned several parts. For Pennys on the dollar, I have my Prius back and she runs like new. Thank you Hometown Hybrids.Services: Auto battery replacement

Hometown Hybrids examplifies exactely whtat I look for in a business: honesty, facts, and good service. During the processing of replacing my camry hybrid main battery, Jessica has been welcoming and very respectful. She listened to my concerns and presented me with the options. Mike, the techinician who diagnosed the car and replaced the battery, was very honest in presenting me with facts and leaving it up to me to choose. Lately (few months later) I had a maintenance message on the board, so I call Jessica and gave her the diagnostic code. she immediately scheduled an appointment to honor the warranty without any drama. Mike showed up on time and replaced the battery. They do business the right way. I highly recommend them for anyone who wants peace of mind.Service: Battery
