This gallery sits in a prime location on Lockhart Square with ample parking on the street or the surrounding blocks. If you didn't know, they refresh the exhibition every First Friday of the month, so if you want to go opening night when things are poppin', that's the time to do it. I've only been during the daytime on random weekends and it's been a great experience, too. No crowds or folks chatting around you. Just you and the art, or your friends discussing the smaller nuances in the pieces.I've been in twice now, and the person who works at the desk is really friendly and chill. Aside from the exhibitions in the main room, they have a back area where more artwork is stored and allow you to poke around and check that out, too. They also feature artists based in Texas or those who have ties to TX or western/southwestern imagery in their pieces. So next time you're in Lockhart for some BBQ, take a moment to walk it off around the square and pop in here to check out some rad contemporary art.

I have been delighted to collect several pieces of art from the Commerce Gallery, and my life is better for it! Beyond the amazing curated collections, they are very professional. Purchases come with certificates of authenticity, and they make all the logistics easy. Commerce is a world class gallery!

Donna & Tamara have one of the most wonderfully inviting galleries in Texas. When I fell in love with a Ralph Fulton Jr. piece, Tamara customized a payment plan for me so I didn’t miss out on taking home my first major art piece. It now hangs in my shop and brings me joy every single day.Thank you for curating such incredible art in a warm, hospitable way.

Love visiting Commerce Gallery any time I’m spending time in Lockhart and surrounding area. The space is amazing and located right in the heart of downtown, and the art is always incredible and fun. They do a great job of changing the exhibits to keep things exciting. The staff is welcoming and knowledgeable about the pieces and the artists, but never pushy. I love how they include the local community by hosting monthly events. Thanks for providing such a lovely place to visit and find wonderful art!

The best gallery to do business with as an artist(or spouse thereof). Donna and Tamara are kind, fair and professional. The gallery is a Lockhart treasure. We are thankful they took the dive into our small town. The gallery regularly brings us all together to embrace visual art and each other.

Lockhart is now famous for not only barbecue but also art—art specifically curated by this glorious gallery. We wandered in on First Friday a couple of years ago and were blown away by the paintings, the people, the music, the vibe, and we keep coming back. Somehow they manage to find and showcase the best up and coming artists, and our walls are better for it. Check them out—they welcome window shoppers and buyers alike.

Do you want to spend a wonderful day/evening in Lockhart? Then you need to head to The Commerce Gallery, it's nothing short of "state of the art". Every time I visit, I am in awe of the amazing works and knowledgeable staff. A big "hat's off" to Donna & Tamra for bringing the Art to LockhArt. Make sure you say hi to Fred. Set aside the amazingly curated artwork and you will find a woman owned business ran by two of the most thoughtful and generous women around. The wife and I were on a road trip recently. We drove from Bangor, ME toSan Diego, CA. By far our favorite town to happen upon was Lockhart.The BBQ was the best we’ve had, Texans clearly have a superior grasp of meat.After our feast, we took a stroll on Lockhart’s historic town square, and randomly walked into Commerce Gallery.Not only did we see some world-class artwork, we were treated like old friends by the staff. They were knowledgeable but not at all pretentious. So many times we’ve strolled into galleries and have been greeted (if at all) by a nose in the air, or a smug sense of self-importance.That was not the case here. They clearly love the artists they represent, and they want EVERYONE to take part in the love of Art, for Art’s sake.Our kind of people. Caroline was especially helpful, we were both impressed all around.A must visit.
