We came by to exchange $2 bills for $1s, since young people think they're not real (yes, really) and the teller actually informed us the red serials were more rare and did we want to keep them. I thought that was so nice! I've been banking with them since it was Northstar and am very happy with their service.

I have been a small business customer of Northstar Bank of Texas for a little over a year. I have enjoyed working with them vs one of the big banks where you are basically a number on an account. Unfortunately, they apparently have not enjoyed working with me. I have two small business accounts and one personal account. I opened the personal account a month ago, moving it from Wells Fargo, in response to the great service I had received over the past year. I ordered my new checks, set up all my online bill pay accounts and updated my direct withdrawal payments. All was good. Then I received notice that all of my accounts will now require large minimum daily balances or be charged monthly fees. I came to Northstar because they were not one of the big guys that charged you for every little thing. I came to Northstar to build a long-term relationship with a bank where they knew me and offered personal service. What I received was a lot of wasted time and expense. I expected more from a small bank that was founded in a small town in North Texas. I guess the days of having a working relationship with a banker are gone...unless you are wealthy enough to make it well worth their time. Oh well. Now to get working on my new account applications at Ally. Sincerely Disappointed, Dennis Ozment

It is 2014 and all I want to do is MAKE A PAYMENT ONLINE. I live in Dallas and I work long hours. I go to work before the bank even opens and I get off after they close. It is NOT convenient for me to drive to Lewisville and hand them a check. The website is VERY misleading in regards to making payments. You click on the link for payments yet there is NO button or way to SET UP payments. So what do I do? I call the location I normally deal with. They don't know what to tell me, so they transfer me to customer service. It says "Press 1 for a representative". I press 1, more than once and nothing happens - the automated message just keeps talking. So I go back to the website, and call the first customer service number listed. The lady that answers doesn't know what to tell me either, she says to call my bank that I have a checking account with. So I call them, and by some miracle I finally set up Northstar as a Payee. Although it took me several tries and several error messages because it wasn't finding them. It also says it will take several days for the payment to process. So rather than worrying about being penalized for that, I call them to see if they'll take a payment over the phone. SURPRISE, they won't. And they WERE NOT nice about it. I wish I could just close my account altogether but I don't really have that option. It's going to be a long year.

Good service if you walk in for something minor.... I had issue with my online account, debit card, and deposits... To get this corrected I had to wait for an hour. No one knows how to solve any simple issues. Oh an if you inquire about a loan forget about it. The finance person there is worthless does not even know what type of produces they offer without having to verify the guidelines or asking someone else. Really Scary!
