A review about a hospital to begin 2024 on Yelp? You know it. I'm grateful for this facility for helping me when I was at the mercy of dangerously high blood pressure. My older brother rushed me here when it appeared I wouldn't make it through the night. Thank you to everyone from Dan in ER to the woman who does housekeeping for a wonderful experience. Because of that, I proudly support UTMB 110%. Certain that Yelpers want to know about the food. Not exactly gourmet cooking, but substantial nonetheless (I really recommend the veggie burger).

From the moment I arrived I was treated with the most professional and caring staff. I was dropped off and picked up by a neighbor so I was there alone, and at 70 years old just a little nervous. Thankfully your staff made me as comfortable as they could and made me not think of the upcoming procedure. I made it through the surgery without complications! Thank you to everyone including my surgeon, Dr. Gabriel Reep.

Took a loved one to UTMB LC ER. Love one suffers from severe autoimmune disease was septic and admitted to ICU for several days. Great experience that time. One week after ICU release, took loved one back to ER, low BP, elevated WBC count, shaking in sever pain, couldn’t walk, unable to urinate, burning skin sensation when moving extremities and nausea. ER Dr. Sandhir was apathetic, unfriendly and uncaring. Was told they were busy and if I wanted to take her somewhere else I could. When blood work came back, she had a nurse go into the waiting room start an IV with at least 30 people sitting around. Sat in waiting room for a long time before being moved to a room. Doctor said she would be staying overnight and ordering imaging. Waited over 4 hours, no imaging was ordered, no orders for admission, refused pain medication yet finally received something for nausea. Doctor ordered drug screen which came back negative and still refused pain meds. Watching a loved one suffer is not quality care. Ended up taking loved one to a different hospital to receive the care she needed. If you are wanting compassionate care, go elsewhere if Dr. Sandhir is on duty. She is horrible!

The billing staff is beyond incompetent. 8 months and they haven’t processed my insurance. I have requested multiple times to speak with someone who can do more than request a review. Nothing. My insurance company has made multiple requests for a bill. Nothing. Don’t go here they will stick patients with thousands in debt by failing to bill insurance.

I live on Galveston Island and I was sent to this location for OT/PT because I am experiencing pain when I walk. So, of course the parking area that we are told to use is by the ER. Once inside, you have to walk a long distance to get to the Rehabilitation office. Now, tell me how that makes any sense?!

I was traveling out of town and needed to get looked at for a possible ear infection. This place and the staff was were amazing. I have never been to an Urgent care that was this efficient and thorough. I was in and out in less than a n hour. Nurses and doctors were awesome and I never felt rushed. They found a pharmacy that was close and open late to get my prescription in... Thank you UTMB you are the best

Last week I had two procedures done. One on Tuesday and the other on Friday. Not one time did I worry about the help or care I was going to receive. From administration to the nurses to the doctors. They all carry the best bedside manors I have ever encountered. Their kindness and words of comfort make you feel as if your being taken care of by angles. Their professionalism between one another and the way they take care of each other to take care of you is like a well oiled and timed machine. You can feel God's hands on theirs as they work to resolve what ever illness you have. May God continue to bless these people for all they do.

My 86-year old mother received excellent care. The processes in place were clearly established and followed (only 1 exception). My mom was not left waiting in the room with no attention. The doctors, aids, RNs, and social worker were all kind, informative, and caring. Everyone was very respectful.Everything went so well that I am still rating with 5 stars -- because how well they did everything!Note: the only issue was when it was time to check out, the doctor came by, & he must have been so very busy because it took 4-5 hours for her chart to be updated that her release was approved. Thank you to all of the UTMB staff. We think you are great :)

All the nurses ,doctors & the anesthesiologist to have that in order that I felt comfortable. They took very good care of my belonging while I was in the; operation room. And I never seen the shed and done and make sure that I had someone to go home with me and that I could get to my things and get dressed. I am a double amputee so It took a little bit more than help than most. They all liked and commented on my new wheelchair, and they all liked and commenting on to school design on my right socket. All in all it was a very good experience........ I'm just glad it's over!!

I was told to arrive at 12:00 for my day surgery procedure. I waited in the waiting area for an hour before I was finally called back to prep. Then I waited another hour for the procedure from the bed, being told sorry we are running behind. I get it...things happen and so do delays. BUT, it would be appreciated if y'all notified patients of the delay (especially when it is 2 hrs) and possibly postponed their check in time. No need for me to sit in a hospital waiting chair with my anxiety already elevated when I could've waited a bit longer in the comfort of my home. Y'all ask patients to arrive early/on time, a similar courtesy would be appreciated if you're experiencing delays.I also repeatedly told the nurse/anesthetist/staff that I had a headache (likely from no food or drink). Was even asked to rate it on a scale of 1-10 (it was an 8). But despite being told several times they would check about giving me a Tylenol or something similar (even in my IV), nothing happened. They kept waiting for the IV fluids to see if that helped...but it didn't help much.Nothing against the staff, they were nice...but it just felt like a mismanaged / disorganized / overburdened facility. I've been on the fence about switching from UTMB for numerous other reasons, especially at this particular facility and this experience just gives me another reason to switch.

The facility was very accommodating and extremely clean. The nurses were very knowledgeable and attentive. My first procedure was with a different Anesthesia group and that is why I returned to the Victory Lakes Campus. I would not have gone if I had known this. The MD had me sign informed consent but did not give informed consent. Did not answer my medication questions. THE CRNA did not introduce herself or give me a plan for my care. I was not medicated so I know the sequence of events. They tried to tell me it was the medication.

Great place to visit, but I wouldn't want to live here. The parking garage is a nice touch with the urgent care located inside for convenience. Unfortunately my stay was extended a few days, but the rooms are very nice and quite clean (duh). It was the height of Covid when I last visited, but even with all the issues I had, and procedures completed, the staff made me feel as much at home as possible. Most had a good sense of humor, but you always get that one or two that may think you are serious.Overall, great experience. Hope I don't have to go back, but if I do I know it will be as good of an experience as I could hope for.

I am impressed with the level of professionalism I have experienced during my care at UTMB. All the staff from the receptionist who checked me in to the medical staff were professional and very caring. My wait time was minimal, and the level of communication was great. I had a procedure that required anesthesia. I received a phone call the next day from the nurse to ensure that I was doing okay and to see if I needed any additional assistance. "Hats off to UTMB and a big thanks to all the staff!
