Our fur “baby” is an older gal, and needed to be spayed before she got any older. They helped us set everything up, and PATIENTLY and VERY KINDLY answered all and any questions! The Dr is also very patient and kind with our girl, and put me at ease! Everyone there clearly loves animals and is so kind and helpful, we love them and are so glad our community (and our world) has them in it!!!

I started volunteering with A.R.K. 4 years ago. While this is a small shelter they do their very best to gain a good insight on potential adoptee's. Hands down this is the only shelter in town I will support. My family and I began walking dogs and cleaning kennels when we lived in a apartment. Now that we have planted roots in K-town, after a thorough vetting process, we have been able to foster several animals. Moreover, we have had our efforts rewarded and have been able to see them successfully adopted into good "FURever" homes. What Kurt F may fail to realize, almost all animals at this local, no Kill, animal shelter, is that these animals often come from really bad situations. A.R.K.'s main purpose it to ensure these animals do not end up in a same or worse situation. I personally have seen a student, who lived in college dorm rooms, attempt to adopt a pet. For those who may not be aware, dorm rooms are temporary and almost never allow pets of any kind. Clearly her heart was in the right place but she was a bit short sighted. When adopting from A.R.K., much like other shelters, they ensure your home, landlord, and family are a good fit for the animal as well as the adopter. This has been by far the best and most rewarding volunteer opportunity for my family and myself. The board members' integrity and willingness to go above and beyond the call of duty is refreshing. I have personally sat in on a few meetings just out curiosity and was inspired to join their outreach efforts. We certainly are blessed to have the opportunity to serve along side the dedicated volunteers that run this fantastic organization.

without the ARK many of these animals would be euthanized instead of finding loving homes and the spay and neuter program is awesome.

My family, especially my parents, donated a lot to ARK. I visited there myself a year ago and they are improving and growing at an amazing rate. And If I was down there now I'd scoop up Bernie the border collie mix in an instant.

They have a great selection of animals and work very hard to find them homes, but their policy of requiring pets already in your home to be spayed/ neutered can be frustrating. Hopefully that policy will change in the future, but if that scenario applies to you maybe you should put on your application that you don't have any current pets.
