Awful service, they ask you to leave your purse at the entrance of the store because of their bag policy. Is the first place they ask me something that offensive. I'm never going back

I went into dollar this general today and it is usually a good experience. I’m a regular at this location and I have been for about two years now. This location is one minute from my house and is usually a quick in and out. I am never bothered or ever have to wait long in line. Today, when I walked in and the employee at the register immediately started flagging me down. He was yelling at me to put my bag at the counter. There was no hello, or greeting just telling me to put my bag at the counter. He tells me that there is no bags allowed in the store. There is no signs on the doors stating this policy or any signs outside the building stating this. I am confused at where this policy came from as I’ve never had this encounter when I have been there. I always carry the same small bag everytime I come in, what makes this time different? The small bag I carry has never been an issue in any store. The small bag contains my wallet, cash, coins, and my medicine that I keep on me at all times. It is inconvenient for me to carry all in my arms so I put it in a small bag. This was a huge inconvenience to me because I did not feel comfortable leaving my bag up front at all. I don’t know any of the employee’s there and I don’t feel comfortable leaving my belongings with a complete stranger. Who is to say they will or will not take anything or snoop around. I told him I would go put it in my car and I did and came back. At that time it looked like the manager had approached the “situation.” I do want to note I was super calm with the guy, I was just very confused at why he was yelling at me. I was also confused at why he thought I would leave my bag up there with no explanation. When I came back I got the items I needed and checked out. The same guy that was yelling at me was the one checking me out. I asked the guy at the register if this was a new policy and he said yes. I feel like if it is a new policy they should have signs on the door stating such. That way the customer isn’t blind-sighted when they are getting yelled at first thing when walking in. The only sign on the door was to email if you had a bad experience. If there was a sign on the door I would have taken my cash out and put my bag in the car before even going inside. I don’t like getting yelled at. I don’t like being embarrassed in front of other customers. I don’t like how he approached the initial interaction. When I was leaving I believe it was the manager who asked if if I grabbed my bag from the front, and then she said “oh right you put it in your car.” She did not end with a goodnight or thank you for shopping. Just walked away. I went and took a picture of the only sign on the door. It was the email for the district manager to tell them about any bad experiences. I think they could have gone about it a different way. This experience really sucked because this location is close, convenient and I know where everything is. As I am sitting in the parking lot writing this message multiple people have been stopped with small purses, big purses, and a motorcyclist on a bike who all had to put their bag at the front. They all look shocked as they are told this information. I don’t think I will be returning to this location until this issue ends up getting resolved and the employees learn how to approve conflict situations.

I come to this store all the time and while i like that it has everything that i need, there NEEDS to be more than one person checking people out. I’ve never been in here when the line isn’t wrapped around.

Had to run out for some potatoes ? I came to the Dollar General because I know they have a produce section. For people who didn't know ? I took pictures because it should be shown. Thank you to Ms. Mel, the manager she is always too nice and helpful. Keep up the great work, ladies ?

They got propane and Redi Ice...two main things I need for summer fun. Place was a little messy but check out was easy and smooth. Entrance to the parking lot is not sports car friendly lol

I have been shopping at this store for many years. This store has always carried Blue Bell ice cream where I have always bought it at this location. Since the recent renovation the store quit selling it. Many people have complained about it and are requesting the ice cream back to this store. On this side of town we have no grocery store and it was extremely handy to have Blue Bell at this location.
