Midway Market beginnings actually started back 1961, Meyer could not receive a job at Houston Lighting & Power (his Dad worked there), so he went back to work Dube Grocery in Katy. After 4 years he thinks, why not make the money for myself and become his own store-keeper. The chance to go into business came in 1967, when he opened his store at the present location 5901 Highway Blvd, with his father’s help. The meat department always one of his favorite parts of the store, which his love for wild game hunting led him to wild game processing. In 1970, our first year in that business, we did 125 animals. By the early 2000s the number had grown to several thousand.
