As of December 26, 2023, customer service is still very inadequate. When I called, I was transferred 3 times, only to be put on hold for longer than I ever care to wait for assistance with my money account. I'm currently on hold again going beyond 30 minutes. It's no wonder the ratings are currnetly horrible for this financial institution. I will email the 800... if service is this bad on the phone I can't imagime the wait time to resolve issues through email.

I have been calling for three days trying to speak with customer service. Still no answer. They know I want to withdraw so they ignoring my calls.

I was unable to login into my account for days. Customer Service said someone would call me. No one called for the first week. CS was often clueless and I knew more than they did about this problem. Finally I was able to login into my account. I have NEVER heard any financial institutions that was off-line for this length of time.During the last 2 years, we experienced numerous other problems that took considerable time and energy to resolve.As mentioned above, customer service at the 800 number is poorly trained and lacking in interpersonal skills. Mutual of America is a lower grade company that has lost control of quality.The Regional Office has provided superior support but they are unable to fix the corporate level IT problems or improve on the poor CS from the 800 number.

The customer service is absolutely horrible. The hold time is over 3 hours long to only be told "I'm a generalist, you need to speak with a specialist". I no longer work for the company that invest retirement with them. Employers should avoid this company at all cost. I've even reached out to my previous employer regarding this company's customer service in hopes they will discontinue doing business with them. This is unfortunate because this company presented so well during a staff meeting and I was hopeful they were worth the investment. Please reconsider.

I have literally spent over 6 1/2 hours on hold over 3 days time trying to resolve an issue. Customer service is non existent. I can no longer recomment a company I used to hold in high regard.

I've been trying to do a simple transfer for over 2 months. Phone lines are either busy or you hold forever. Guess it insn't possible to leave less than 1 star. Horrible service..

DO NOT TRUST THEM WITH YOUR MONEY!!!! PLACE YOUR FUNDS ANYWHERE BUT HERE! It’s sad how they run this company now. On hold for over 15 hours over 3 days to have a rep hang up in my face because they lied to me. Just horrible!!!!

Unfortunately, I have a account with this company. They are always “experiencing hiring than usual call volume”. Weird that it says that even when the offices are closed. You will wait literal hours before someone answers the phone or gives a call back. The average time I’ve found to be is between 4-5 hours! On top of that I requested a form through email and never received it. I have called them over 6 times and each time have talked to different employees each time. I verified my email by spelling it out and listening to them spell it back. I get no notification and receive the incorrect form weeks after my call by postal mail! This is hands down the worst retirement company I have used. Everyday I am not able to contact anyone who can help and I watch my account balance lower every day. NO CARE FOR CUSTOMER SERVICE.

Worst customer service in the world. Never answer the phone you can be o hold all day. When you choose the option for them to call you back , they are not able to assist you in any way, it’s like they hire people of the street to answer the phones with no training. I have been trying to transfer my funds to Fidelity for over a month it’s has been so frustrating. Once again I will drive an hour away to the nearest office and will not leave until I get this issues resolved.

This company is horrible. While I did not personally choose them, I am fortunate that I no longer work for the agency that did choose this group. Customer service is unresponsive, and after hours of trying to get someone they give false information. I had a simple rollover transaction, and funds have disappeared. Mutual of America is doing nothing to correct. Please beware!
